From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laurelin Paige comes a new story in her Found Duet series…
I knew JC was trouble the minute I laid eyes on him.
Breaking every rule in my club. I never forget how he made me feel that night. With all the women in that room, all those bodies on display, but his eyes were only on me.
Of course I married him. Now years have passed. Kids have been born. We’re still in love as always, and the sex is still fantastic...
And yet, it’s also not. Like many who’ve been married for a while, I long for the high intensity of those days of the past.
I’ve heard rumors for years about the Open Door. An ultra-exclusive voyeur’s paradise. A place to participate in—or watch—any kind of display you can imagine.
My husband’s eyes would still be on me. And maybe other eyes too. If that’s what we want.
So when an invitation to come play arrives, how could we turn it down?

So many good things about this novella... For fans of Gwen and JC, we get to see how they are doing years later with marriage under their belts, and the joys of raising 3 young boys in their very busy lives. It's like a fun epilogue and pretty satisfying to see these two still so much in love.
This also can be read as a standalone. You don't need to know their back history to enjoy a story about a a married couple trying new things to spice things up.
The idea behind The Open Door is a great way for anyone, at any stage to experience what they like sexually. Gwen and JC didn't know what they wanted out of the experience, but the beauty of it was they could just go and observe if that's all they wanted. It's a safe place to explore.
I liked the way the author handled that exploration. It showed a married couple that was in tune with each other. Who talked things out, and never wanted to push the other to do something they didn't want to do, as well as find their limits. It's a great look into a beautiful marriage.
How do I get an invite? I want in. Jeepers it’s sexy! All manner of kink provided for.
Gwen and JC still adore each other. They’re just tired. Three kids does that to you. When an invite to an Open Door party comes their way, they debate it, decide on boundaries and then hop on. What a hot sexy adventure.
Seriously, I need an invite. I think my bestie T might be able to help.
It’s oh so delicious. I loved riding the merry go round with them and seeing some familiar faces.
Full transparency: I wasn't expecting to like this novella as much as I did.
Laurelin Paige has been evolving in her stories recently when it comes to the kinks her characters like, so much so that she's introduced us to an elite, invitation-only sex club known as The Open Door. It's a club that allows people to explore their desires and limits in a safe, consensual, and open setting where no one will judge, and anything is allowed; roleplays, swingers, voyeurism, BDSM, etc.
Whilst I am open-minded to some of those kinks, others are just not my cup of tea. So the previous two times that The Open Door has made an appearance in Laurelin's book - like Dirty Filthy Fix, and Slay: Rivalry - I hadn't been a big fan because honestly? I just didn't get the introduction I needed to allow me to embrace and be more open-minded about not just these characters and their kinks, but most especially about The Open Door itself. I felt like in those two previous stories, there was no real introduction to it, especially not through the eyes of someone who isn't in the lifestyle to begin with.
But then I read - okay, devoured (in one sitting) - The Open Door, and it's here we were delved deeper into this establishment, through the eyes of someone with no history to it... and it was everything I didn't know it could be. It was better than I thought it'd be, and I absolutely loved it.
You just never see stories like this anymore, ever.
Gwen and JC have been together now for around eight years and have three sons together. They're happy and very much in love, but the spark they used to have pre-babies has dwindled down. And the sex? It's non-existent. So when an invitation the The Open Door is presented to JC, who then presents it to Gwen, she is at first insulted and upset as she thinks this means that JC doesn't find her desirable anymore, but more so she's intrigued and curious, because going by the rumours of this sex club through the mouths of those in high society: just how open can The Open Door be?
It's a fun, funny, realistic, sexy (like, hella sexy), and just an all-around quick story to read; it's about a happily married couple exploring their desires and limits safely, and reigniting that dwindled spark and spicing up their sex-life without the fear that any of their kids will come barging in on them whilst they're getting it on (which happened in this novella and had me laughing out loud). But more so, it's about reconnecting with your husband, spending quality time with him, and finding that balance between giving your kids the attention they need, giving your husband the attention he deserves, and giving yourself the freedom to do something that you desire.
Laurelin Paige really touches on everything that I'm sure many working mothers and wives will easily relate to - the struggles and exhaustion of it all: working, marriage, children - all the while she delivers one hell of a fast-paced and erotic and adorable romance that had me devouring this story all the more. The writing is flawless and the story itself is easy to read and has my love for these characters skyrocketing, and despite the fact that Gwen and JC already have a duet together - Free Me and Find Me - this novella can be read and most definitely enjoyed as a standalone.
So if you're looking for a quick-to-read romance full of love, sex, and (something I enjoyed most about this novella; you'll understand why when you read it) communication, then The Open Door is the book for you.
This erotic peek into the married with children life of JC and Gwen was fantastic.
I loved seeing how life has been for these 2. I'm not married but it was unique to see a storyline about an already married couple. Those who are trying to juggle work, children, and a sex life. The imperfections of navigating parenthood while attempting to keep the sexy times just that... sexy. This is real life, relatable.
The Open Door was sexy and steamy and full of heart, like most of Paige's work. A definite end to summer recommendation.
HOT HOT HOT Even though we get married, have children and become a family you should never forget that you are also a couple. Never let life get in the way of spending alone time together. The Open Door gave them an opportunity to connect again and also explore some things they both thought about but didn't know how to express. What I loved about this story was they were open with each other and before going to the Open Door each time they agreed with what each one wanted and would be comfortable with. Every person looked for their own thing when going to the Open Door. Gwen and JC were both so much in love with one another and attending the Open Door gave them the opportunity to explore their "fantasies" with each other in a safe environment. A very steamy and erotic story with 2 people so in love with each other. A fantastic read by an awesome lady.
Well, to be honest, I was not expecting what I got when I dived into this. I knew it was going to be a sexy read. It's a Laurelin Paige book, it was a given. The author has written some of the sexiest books I've read before... and this was no different, and like most her other books, it held more than kinky sex, and bdsm elements. It held depth, and I actually feel like I’ve taken something positive away this book. Whether that was the authors intent or not, I’m not sure.
JC and Gwen are a favorite couple of mine and it was good to dive into their story a couple of years down the track. They are back and they're married, with three kids and I am no parent but those that are can probably relate to the way of life they now live, and how much things have changed for them. Nappies and sleepless etc, and work work work... It is a routine that can be so easy to fall into for any married couple with children, but after JC brings home an invitation to The Open Door (sex club) where you go and watch and even play sometimes. The invitation is too good to pass up, but after having three children Gwen isn't 100% sure she is comfortable enough with her own body to participate in front of many others... She's hesitant and I can completely understand that side of it, but JC manages to convince her, and it honestly didn't take much. He adores her, he loves her beyond belief and is loyal, loving and caring, so how can she not trust this mans words?
So, once they both agree... It's off to The Open Door, and holy fuck shit... As I said above, I knew this was going to be a hell of sexy read but... I was not expecting it to almost melt my kindle in my hands. It was seriously off the charts kind of hot and I devoured every single word... And although this is short steamy hot novella it still managed to hold more than just sex. It kind of gives out a message that just because you are married, and have children and your life has settled in a way yet is chaotic in another way... It doesn't mean you can't get out there and have fun with the person you love and that sometimes it is healthy to spice things up, to have fun, And that even though Gwen's body may have changed after having children and she may not be 100% comfortable in her own skin, it doesn't make her any less desirable, and JC proves that time and time again... He's the perfect husband! Well that's what I got from this novella, and in my opinion, every word was perfect, but I shouldn't have expected anything less than perfect from Ms. Paige. Her writing is always flawless and it's so easy to fall into a plot and lose the sense of time, or even day because I just get so fixated with her words, and the way she weaves them together to create a masterpiece such as this. This is definitely going on my re-read pile and I am praying she puts this in audio form! Absolutely loved this book!
JC and Gwen are a married couple living in New York City. They both work full time, and are hands on parents to their children. They've been together eight years, and finding time for themselves as a couple can be challenging with three boys under the age of six. Lately they'd sort of taken one another for granted, so when an opportunity to do something exciting that isn't all about their identity as parents comes their way, they take the chance to spice up their relationship.
They receive an invitation to join an exclusive club called the Open Door. They'd heard rumors about the ultra exclusive voyeur's paradise where the elite go to play and fulfill their deepest, darkest fantasies. They are curious, and suddenly privy to a sexy secret society that will give them a place to deepen their physical connection and explore new experiences together. They grow as a couple, and it pushes them to truly appreciate each other, and focus on their love life.
The Open Door (A Found Duet Novella) is a 1001 Dark Nights standalone story by Laurelin Paige that is sinfully delicious! JC and Gwen explore all their hidden desires while strengthening their bond as a couple. I really enjoyed this short sexy story! It was sensual, and full of passion, emotion, and love.
It’s been four years since I finished reading The Found Duet so I was more than excited to dip back into JC & Gwen’s life.
Like most people that are busy raising a family, JC & Gwen struggle to be able to spend any quality time together as a couple. Lack of time, sleep and interruptions has meant the physical side of their relationship isn’t the way it used to be, before children. Things are still just as hot sexually but quick fucks are getting to be too regular these days.
When JC proposes they take up an offer to attend an exclusive Open Door night, Gwen immediately overthinks his intentions. Is he no longer attracted to her, does he want to sleep with other women…. you get the picture. And why do women do that, immediately think there is something wrong with them.
Gwen’s curiosity has her agreeing to see what the Open Door is all about. They establish an agreed set of rules and head on through. Will the chance to be a voyeur inject some much needed spice back into their relationship?
A Slinky Provocative Celebration of Sex and Motherhood
Open Door is a wanton almost wicked exploration that pushes the boundaries of Happy Wife Happy Life.
Domestic diversions in New York? JC and Gwen from the Found Duet? And oh my god! JC has the greatest kink of all time! Only Laurelin Paige can deflate boobs, hurl barf and then write about the naughtiest parents ever in her Filthy Universe. Y’all are gonna be jealous of Gwen. We should all get so lucky.
With a simple note: “Interested?” Paige sent overwhelmed mother of three, Gwen through the looking glass and down a rabbit hole to explore her ever evolving libido. And boy did she find it. Turns out, Gwen is a very unchaste and ravenous wife. Fortunately for her—and us—she has JC and his connections that lead them to Open Door.
Down tree-lined roads and behind pretty stone walls, Gwen is seduced by a private, very risqué, universe of pleasure. You may remember Open Door from other Paige titles, like Dirty Filthy Fix or Slay: Rivalry. Open Door is a shifting hedonist’s playground for the well-heeled. Paige paints a vivid picture, where every manner of kink is indulged from the simple voyeur to the nearly violent.
Yes, it’s sexy and edgy, vintage Paige. But this is no paint by numbers guide to sexual fantasies.
This is a modern fairy tale for the sexy homemaker who’s seen her desire take a back seat to playpens and acetominephen. Open Door is about rediscovery and reunion with a touch of exhibitionism. It’s about stoking the flames of lust and love, and the connection that makes us keep coming back to fall for her characters over and over.
I could gush some more, but everyone who loves erotic romance or a great love story, should read this book. Just buy it and read. It's a delight.
OH WHOA!!! That was HOT! Our favorite couple is back for the after. Gwen and JC are now married with 3 kids. Their days involved sleepless night, dirty diapers, and puke. Who the heck has time for sex much less romance? When JC brought home an invite to The Open Door aka. voyeur’s paradise where couple can watch or participate, could they turn it down? Of course, it wasn’t an easy sell at first because after a woman bore three children, she is entitled to feel a little subconscious about her body and whether her husband still look at her with hungry eyes. It did not take much convincing though – I love JC – he is so loyal and he knows how to make his wife feel loved and cherished. So the Open Door, here we come … and it’s insanely erotic, dirty, and seductive. Whatever it takes to spice up the marriage, right? True to Laurelin’s style, this book was deliciously hot. Short novella – go for it!
Gwen is tired and overwhelmed with motherhood but wouldn’t change anything about her life. She is madly in love with her husband JC, has the job of her dreams and cherishes her best friend, Alayna. But she feels unsure of herself sexually, and when she received a mysterious email from JC, she was hurt that he would suggest a “sex club” as something their relationship would need. She had heard about The Open Door, but had never thought about what went on behind closed doors. Gwen wasn’t shy about trying new things, so maybe this is what she needed to make herself feel desirable to JC again like when they first met, before life got in the way. Even if it only gave them ideas and techniques they could use together at home, because what could it hurt to accept the provocative invitation, and open the door to pleasure?
Laurelin's third contribution to the 1001 Dark Nights series, and it was just perfect.
But I'll admit, before I started I had my doubts. A married couple? Visiting a sex club? What's the romantic ARC? So I settled in for a lot of steamy and maybe not so much story.
Game, match: LP.
Even in a novella, Laurelin Paige gave me all the drama and lust that make her books and characters so captivating. And I loved revisiting Gwen & JC in their perfectly imperfect happily ever after.
And I'm facepalming myself hard for even doubting because it was a novella that first brought me to LP's catalog: Dirty Filthy Rich Boys (run don't walk).
5 HOT SEXY STARS!! HOT, HOT, HOT and SEXY!! This novella had me drinking ice cold water all the way through. JC and Gwen know how to turn up the heat after marriage and kids....my kindle was burning up. These two will have you flipping pages. I totally recommend this hot sexy read.
Thank you to Inkslinger and the author for an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
The Open Door: A Found Duet Novella By: Laureline Paige
*REVIEW* 💋💋💋💋 The Open Door is my introduction to Laureline Paige, as well as Gwen and JC. This story is definitely relatable for anyone who has been married for a while with kids. It's so easy to let things slide, and problems gradually develop. I think most married women feel unattractive or undesirable at some point, so Gwen' s feelings are not unusual. The question is what to do about it? If Gwen and JC feel bored with their sex life, an invite to The Open Door is the perfect opportunity to turn things around, if they set parameters. I would never enter this type of place without definitive ground rules. It's a sensual exotic unreal experience, how will it affect them as a couple and individually? No spoilers! You must read if you want answers. What a break from everyday life! This story is definitely unique and fun. I enjoyed reading about Gwen and JC and their adventures as a married couple. They are wonderful characters with warmth and charm, and they are adorable together. The problems of marriage in the bedroom are universal and understandable. It's a relevant topic that gives the story more authenticity and relatability. I found The Open Door thought provoking, entertaining, smart and smoking hot. It's an excellent escape that's also a quick read. Definitely check it out!
I devoured this book! As a parent of two, I remember the days when we just couldn’t seem to connect. Laurelin Paige tells the tale of two people still completely in love with each other but just don’t have the time to be anything other than parents. The Open Door is the story of JC and Gwen, who are given the opportunity to reconnect in one hell of a way! This hot, sexy novella will get you in the mood to rekindle your romance with your significant other ;)
Whew! What a hot short read! I have always loved Gwen and JC. I remember in Fixed Forever when Gwen was talking to Alayna about The Open Door and I really was curious about what was going to happen with that! And now I know! I was so into it! I loved how their story navigated though such a touchy matter. The insecurities that Gwen suffers from are completely identifiable. And the way that she wants to please her man is so admirable... wanting to push her boundaries but still being comfortable with it all is the fine line to worry about. I loved this story. I loved catching up with Gwen and JC. And I loved watching them go through this together! So much love for them! Great story!
I absolutely loved this exploration of what happens after the HEA! JC & Gwen are madly in love, but with work, kids, and life, time for their relationship can take a backseat. When they are gifted a membership to a sex club called The Open Door, Gwen starts considering the possibilities. This is an honest, thought provoking, and deliciously dirty look at the challenges, insecurities, jealousies, passion, love, and trust they bravely face together. Being a wife and mother I could relate to so many thoughts Gwen struggled with. I haven't read their story in the Found Duet, but I fell hard for both JC & Gwen in this beauty story of their unconditional love and devotion, and how they only want whats best to make them more connected and stronger together. The different themes of the Open Door parties are intriguing, and seductive. But it is the authentic journey that JC & Gwen took, together, that makes me love this emotional, passionate, and steamy romance!
This novella is jaw droppingly hot! The Open Door by Laurelin Paige is the story of a couple with the opportunity to explore every fantasy they could possibly dream of. For readers of the Found Duet, you get a chance to catch up with JC and Gwen, who are blissfully married, while new readers will have no problem reading this as an introduction. The Open Door is surprisingly relatable. Paige expertly delivers smoking hot scenes balanced with the thoughts and feelings so many women would be experiencing in those scenarios. (Totally vague, but you don’t want spoilers any more than I want to spoil it.) Grab this quick read and enjoy! Note: If your ereader opens the book past the dedication, it’s worth the few seconds to go back and read it.
JC and Gwen are back in a book that is both sexy hot and moving.
Gwen's a mother of three under six boys. I can't even imagine what that is like, but in the hands of Laurelin Paige we get a careful, thoughtful and sensitive portrayal. Gwen's body has produced three children, but she's feeling the affects of it. Sees them in herself. Then there's the sex life of a couple with three small children.
The Gwen we encounter is a reflective one, wanting to find some ways to get the sexy back.
Into this mix the Open Door arrives and the journey we take with them is one of sexual exploration. Paige at her best. The ending didn't go where I expected and it was amazing.
A provocative, naughty, and scandalously hot quick read!
The Open Door is an erotic novella featuring a married couple finding new, illicit ways of reconnecting intimately, about revitalizing their desires and sexual chemistry that may have lost some of its fire over the years.
Gwen and JC were simply amazing! Their love and devotion towards one another and their children had only grown over the years. But the heat and carnal intimacy they once shared seemed to wane as life became more hectic. The story truly depicts them as a normal husband and wife, how they struggle with balancing their domestic life with their passionate connection as a couple. Their communication was a key aspect into restoring the fire and lust for one another, while navigating their carnal appetites and wanton fascination with The Open Door.
Gwen and JC’s love smolders in this story. It’s an undeniably hot, salacious and intense must-read romance that makes being filthy so much fun.
I absolutely loved anything from Laurelin Pagie’s Fixed world, so when I saw she was going to give us a look into Gwen and JC’s happily ever after, from The Found Duet, I was so excited. The Open Door was a look into life after marriage, kids and everyday life. Gwen and JC are still in love and happy, but sometimes life gets in the way of being a couple. How do you get that connection back? You open the door to all kinds of possibilities!
I loved seeing Gwen and JC’s life now. Seeing how important their love is and their need to connect. How they talk about what they want and how they move forward. Because even if you are a family now, connecting with the person you love is just as important. Though I loved seeing their everyday life and happiness, I loved seeing them bring on the sexy and steamy as well!
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog. Happy reading!
Gwen and JC. I love all of Laurelin’s characters. And this couple is no different. Married now with kids their lives are busy and there is not much time for play. That is until they are introduced to The Open Door. A prestige club offering all the opportunities for a fun sexy evening.
But is this what they need. What they want. It only takes one experience to get hooked and it is just what they need to spice up their marriage. How far will they go? Only one way to find out.
A sexy and hot novella. Loved it from beginning to end.
Wow! JC & Gwen’s story was burning up the pages! I haven’t read the first two books in the series, but I was able to follow along and enjoy JC & Gwen’s story. I will definitely reading the other two books in the series.
A hot steamy novella regarding a secret sex club called The Open Door. Laurelin Paige has been hanging out with her buddy Sierra Simone and has been taking notes from the queen of sex!
Gwen and JC were hawt in The Found Duet, but in The Open Door, they’re even more electric, not only because JC continues to push Gwen’s sexual boundaries but also because they’re a happily married couple with children they adore who still yearn for each other desperately, and even though they don’t get nearly enough time to be alone, experiencing the ecstasy of their joined bodies, they still can easily get lost in each other, reaping the benefits of their chemistry, their devotion, and their love.
Initially, the invitation to The Open Door was a point of contention for Gwen, forcing her insecurities over her post-baby body and her fear that JC didn’t find her attractive anymore, but her view changed quite drastically, seeing it as a way to focus on her and JC, as husband and wife, man and woman, allowing them to revel in a voyeur’s paradise while also reconnecting in ways that haven’t happened since their boys were born.
I love the fact that this happily married couple never allows complacency to enter their marriage, at least to the point that if forces them to live a certain way due to being parents and business owners, and while some husbands and wives would probably look for other more private ways to be together, this club fits Gwen and JC and allow them an avenue to keep pushing their boundaries and experiencing all that the combination of sex and love have to offer.
Gwen and JC are one of my most favorite Laurelin Paige’s couples, so I was thrilled to check in with them and see just how devoted to each other they remain and the things they do to keep their connection just as strong as it was in the beginning.
Reading Open Door by Laurelin Paige is like visiting old friends - JC and Gwen.
Ms Paige pulls you back into their love story but it's now 8 years and kids later and while the love is still stronger than ever there is some doubt and insecurity with Gwen. It doesnt help that JC comes home with a membership to Open Door a sex club which Gwen is unsure about but wants to please her husband, and that's where the story starts to get interesting.
It was so good going back and revisiting Gwen and JC. The story is told from Gwen's POV so we get to feel her love for her family but the insecurity that I think all women face. The story is fast-paced and just as hot as the first 2 books in the series. This is a continuation of JC and Gwen's story so you have to read the first 2 books in the Found series but if you havent yet then I highly recommend it. All three a fantastic end of some reads!
5 Star Review of The Open Door (The Found Duet #2)) by Laurelin Paige
This was a smoking hot, quick read that reeled me in and held me captive from the first to the last chapter.
What do you do to spice up your relationship when you’ve been married for years and have 3 children? That’s the position JC and Gwen now find themselves in and no doubt many of those who are reading this book will be able to relate too.
Gwen has heard about the Open Door, a club where fantasy’s can and do come true. A place where you can watch or be watched. When JC snags an invitation to the Open Door it is up to him to encourage Gwen to be daring.
I loved how supportive and loving JC is, it is obvious how much he loves Gwen and always puts her above all else.
The chemistry and connection between JC and Gwen will have you squirming in your seat and was absolutely captivating.
This is a passionate and oh so naughty story that encourages the reader to take a leap out of our comfort zones and that there can be passion and fire, even after years of marriage and children.
There was nothing that I didn’t love about this story.
