With the President on his side and the failure of the Vestibulum's last-ditch attempt to stop him, it seems that Sean's goal is almost complete. Until, that is, the First moves up Sean's timetable to deal with Canada and Mexico. Also it seems that a group in Congress is starting to push back against the President's executive order, but no one really seems to know why. Or even who's behind it.

Canada proves to be full of unexpected surprises, but when events start heating up in Washington D.C., Sean is forced to switch gears and reassess his priorities. Things are not always what they seem, of course, and things that didn't make sense before start to take on an ominous meaning as Sean begins to learn about the real enemy that he is facing.

And he'll be facing them much sooner than anyone suspected.

I'm new to the Harem / LitRPG thing (If I'd known more about LitRPG when I wrote Shadow, I might have incorporated more elements of that into it).
I have a FT job, so I work on this when I can. Hopefully the next one will be even better.

Awesome sequel

I am happy for Sean and his girls, revolted by the demons, disgusted by the magic society that let things happen because of greed. In this book you see that even under the influence of a dark force, humans do their all to keep what they think are theirs and prefer to destroy it than let someone have it. Be it items or other human beings. It was a bit philosophical.

I can't wait to see the next book!

Another great entry in the series and a new story arc i didn't see coming

This book really stepped up its game. The stakes are higher and the enemy is more sinister than what they've previously dealt with. Though this book feels shorter than the previous ones. Also, some of the scene were kinda shortened or summarized (e.g. the fought in canada, won and then moved on to the next) No explanation or emphasis on some of the scenes, especially the one of steve and terri or how the wedding was planned or even stewart (what happened to him?) Im dying to know

This is a combination review of the entire 17+ book series as I binged the entire The Valens Legacy over the about a month.

The Positives:
- The writing is really good. Often when I binge an author things like their crutch words become constant irritants that didn't happen here.
- Stryvant doesn't mess around. The plot never really stops or meanders, each story having important events that carry the narrative forward.
- There's two maybe three arcs in this series but each flow one into another smoothly so it all seams like a natural progression.
- All the arcs are entertaining and engaging I always wanted to know what would happen next or figure out the mystery.
- The Main character rides the line of being a Gary Stu never really crosses that line.
- Functional magic system and cohesive world.

The Negatives:
- The pervasive fetish portions. Even during serious portions Stryvant will often break my immersion with sexual talk or fetishes.
- Repetitive sex and romance. It does get better later in the series, but since Stryvant's fetishes don't change over the course of the book neither do these scenes. I started skipping them, but he'd often stick important plot points in the middle of them.
- The women characters tend to be on the bland side and over sexualized.

Over all I enjoyed the series.

Renewed Interest in the Series
Overall this book seemed to recapture some of the great things about the series, and had a good balance of all the elements.

Good dose of action and combat. Balanced adult situations. Not an overwhelming number of politicians/names that just popped up only to be overcome and forgotten. Reconnected a bit to some of the discovery of the magic system through the lens of fairy-magic, a new realm for Sean.

The story arch of moving the "war" to Washington and how the political arena could be even more cut throat then what they have been doing was great. Terrie and Max started to develop as more important characters in that role.

Turning enemies by infecting them as Lycans just so lions can boss them around seemed like a bit of a plot cheat.

There was a fair amount of buildup to the wedding, but then it wasn't really described or elaborated on enough. But doesn't everyone want Dwarven inlaws that bring tanker trucks of ale to parties?

I'm not going to rate 11 books individually.

So I will rate 1 and 11 and let it stand for a!l. Frankly, if I read all the way through 11 books, you may safely assume that they were greatly enjoyable.

Excellent world, fun action, enjoyable characters... All in all, I highly recommend it.

Mild critiques: #1: 2 billion? The population is past 7 billion now.

#2: in book 9 or 10, one character makes a comment that no one wants to hear about a man's kinky sex with his wife. The character was right. The sex scenes with the wives were strong at first, but have grown uninteresting now. Truncate them greatly.

Really, other than that, I highly recommend the entire series, which has remained interesting through multiple evolutions...

This is the best novel in this series in quite a long time. Sean is becoming aware of another threat—one posed by demons who plan to invade the earth. He also begins to learn that the timing of his charge to free the lycanthropes from slavery has been determined by the need to prepare an army to defeat the demons. This is credibly set forth and strengthens the series as it begins to appear that some of the stupider moves on the part of the wizards in this series have been made because they are being influenced by fell powers from a different world. Sean does do a couple of really stupid things in this book (like leave the sword that kills demons behind when he goes traveling thousands of miles from home) but overall Stryvant has succeeded in taking this series up a notch.

This was a good continuation of the story. It had the same feel as book 6 in that there is a transition from what the story was about into what the story was becoming. For the first 5 books, Sean was trying to free Reno, then in book 6 he wins Reno completely and now is moving on to Vegas and the rest of the Country. Freeing lycans in the US was the main story point since then, until this book. The story is starting to shift to fighting demons, so the previous storyline of freeing all the lycans needed to be resolved so that the new storyline can take precedence. So I would definitely say this is a transition book.

Great Book

Finished it in less than a day as it was so hard to put down. The Valens Legacy is such a great story and I love the interaction between Sean and his ‘wives’. A story that leaves me with a goofy smile plastered on my face as I read is a great book. The story is building up quickly and I am a little worried that the story will end in a few more books. Looking forward to the next book that he has said will be available before the end of November.

The Plot Thickens (No, Really)

A very straightforward and steady action story with few POV splits. Quite welcome, really, considering the recent books. Sort of a mega-plot down-shift while accelerating, focusing on core group and personal activities. Welcome action scenes [heh] coupled with some good plot-forwarding, and the weddings were really nice. Definitely recommended reading.

Can this series get any better?

I just love Sean and the girls. Throughout the series we watch their love and respect for each other grow.

We get to see the start of a new threat to the family and the lycan race. Can't wait to see what happens next and how they going to deal with the new threats.

Plus the last chapter of this book...ABOUT DAMN TIME!

A pleasure as always

These stories are always a joy to read. I like watching the family's interactions. I like watching the protagonists efforts against the mage and now the demon, menaces. As always the writing is enjoyable and characterization is the star of the show. The plot flows quickly and the story is just the right size to be satisfying but still leave you wanting more.

Awesome read

As always with Sean & crew, it's never simple. The hits keep coming, and they make for a fun and wild ride. I highly recommend this book for lovers of modern fantasy, harems, LitRPG style novels. Mr. Stryvant has built a fascinating world with highly entertaining characters.

Another great one

This time around there are demons in DC, in a prelude to the up coming war that has been hinted at. Who would have thought it? Demons in DC? Then again considering our current elected officials this would make a lot of sense, hmm. As always the action and adult content are on point and couldn’t read the book fast enough to see what happens next.

Prelude To War

Sean and wives work to free all the lycans from the magic users societies. Problems in Congress cause Sean to change his plan and go to D.C. I like the action, built in humor, and romance. I like the series and this book brings a lot together while setting the stage for the war to come. I look forward to the next book.

Sean Valens vs.

Another amazing story in a fun reading series. This time Sean fights politicians and devils ( sometimes the same people). In the end he has a different battle, love and marriages to 7 wives.
I again an looking forward to seeing the next installment of this series to see where it goes from here.😃

House Valens

Another amazing installment. If you've followed along with the gang this long, you can expect great things in this installment as well! Sean and co. start to unravel a plot that is bigger than just freeing the lycans and everyone is worried about the escalating attacks from their enemies.

Nice capper

The "marrage" of story threads was somewhat unexpected but an excellent stage setting for conning events. The somewhat unification of previously warring groups expressed a depth of moral civility seldom found in books of this general type. Can't wait for the story line to cook into a quasi-semi-war story!

I really like this serie. I started it as an experiment to try something different and from that moment on it seems I cannot stop reading. I am used to read john conroe, drew hayes, jim butcher, benedict jacka, ben aaronovich.
To me the stories of those writers are a significant part of my life. As of now the stories of Jan Stryvant are part of it too.

for what it is worth; I recommend!

Series gets better and better

Starting this series, it was like any other harem series, fast action and beautiful girls. Now the plot is picking up and I love how this entire series has developed. I have to wonder if demons were always part of the plan. Ending with the wedding was great. Hopefully we will learn more about the wedding rings.

Yes

Not as much battling in this one. That said the big picture is opening up. Big trouble (war) on the horizon and this book was about housekeeping and preparation. Sean is finally been made an honest husband so get another debtor unofficial alliances to manage but it's "all hands" soon which mean there are to few for the upcoming store. Can't wait for next book.

3 Words. Lion Fight Club!

This book was awesome. I couldn’t leave my bedroom until I finished it. I have already preordered the audible book and will redo the series for the 10th time! Love it and all the characters. I am so team Kali but I truly love them all. So good I can’t stay away!

I have to say I really enjoyed this one... while a little far fetched on the short time table to free all the lycan’s of Canada and Mexico, the author handled it well. The corruption of government and politics takes a very literal meaning in this book which is fun as well.. and we finally get to see Sean and the girls take their biggest leap yet.. looking forward to the next book

Good continuation of the series. A little less action packed than some of the previous books but not too much less. Plenty of build up done right so you don't get bored and the grounds for the next book have been laid. Looking forward to the next one!
