While the first half was slow, the book picked up and the plot deepened. The pacing does detract a little from the overall enjoyment, but the intrigue shores that up nicely.
At its core its really a story of desire, of forbidden lust, and that makes it an old archetype that we, all of us, can relate to. After all, that's what we want from our vampire stories, isn't it? Vampires and angels don't usually fit together so well, but in this case the meta was strong enough to carry the idea.
I'm keen to continue with reading the series to see where the story goes and how the characters develop.
As this is a novella, I didn't expect very much in terms of character-growth or story. But the book surprised me.
Not really my cup of tea. I found the beginning half of the book very slow and at times confusing. I didn't really care about the characters in the story except that they were trying to save innocents. There was not a lot of character development in my opinion.
I have not really gotten into books like these before but wow this was awesome. It had me hook line and sinker. As soon as I finished this one, I got the next two and started. I'm really enjoying them. Good deal.
