It was good and emotional but I had a hard time catching up with all the characters. I suppose if I had read the previous stories it would be much easier.
This is the book that I didn't know I was waiting for. Julianne and the gang back at Cliffs House for one last story, and one with an ending that hasn't driven me mad this time!
We get all the big characters from the series return for the Christmas Eve party, and while Julianne is waiting for Matt to return from Boston, she is reminiscing about instances relating to many of the other books in the series.
This is full of well nostalgia for lack of a better word for the whole series, and has a sweet story in it too, the will he won't he be back in time for Christmas.
The scary house keeper from the last book is back but is starting display some empathy towards the people she is looking after. It was wonderful to see Julianne and her child, Dinah and her wonderful bakes, Kitty still being unsure when it comes to love, Pippa's young son, Gemma and Michael and trying to work out if they are in a relationship. Plus of course Lady Amanda who is still a fabulous boss.
If you are looking for proper closure, and a festive interlude for the A Wedding in Cornwall series then you definitely need to read this book.
This was a short sweet holiday romance. It's the story of the build up to Christmas day from a family. The troubles that come from it. The main characters are separated by countries and it's there story until they reconnect. It was short and sweet. I can see many enjoying it.
Boring .... I must have downloaded this as a freebie as it's a Christmas short story that follows on from a 12 book series. It seemed to me like starting a book half way through as I didn't know any of the characters backgrounds
This was a little novella accompanying the "A wedding in Cornwall" series. Events planner Juliane Rose is busy with preparing Cliffs house ready to receive its first guests as an open house for the festive season. She is struggling to focus as she is worried about Matt coming home from the USA amidst turbulent weather and plane cancellations. Her friends are also facing their own troubles over the season too so at the start of the preparations it's rather a subdued party. Will Matt make it home in time for Christmas to spend it with Julianne and their daughter Sylvia or will she be "lonely this Christmas"? Can they make it a special day at Cliffs house or will their Yuletide hopes be dashed? Maybe it's because it's part of a series the novella was associated with and I just randomly downloaded it as it looked cute but I didn't engage much with the characters, I didn't particularly like any of them and I found the story a bit light weight and overall not much happened. But to be fair as I say this was a random download and I haven't read the rest in the series so haven't followed the characters to see them develop. Just for me this didn't really work.

This is a short and sweet holiday romance - I have read this book as a stand-alone. Whilst there is no introduction to the characters, or any background, it didn't spoil my enjoyment as my main reasoning for choosing this book was that it was a short Christmas novella.
I know that there are books in the series I haven't read, in fact I started on book 2 'A Christmas in Cornwall' and then moved on to this one, but it doesn't seem to matter. I enjoyed the storyline and found the characters to be believable. Both of the books I have read came via Kindle offers on Amazon but I have enjoyed them so much I will purchase the other books in the series at full price if needed.
One of my favourite elements of the novel is that fact it is contemporary but with the class of a period novel. It is refreshing to find a chic-lit style novel that is not full of sex scenes. I am not surprised to read that Jane Austen and classic novels influence Laura, I could detect an essence of Austen and also Daphne du Maurier in her work.
A DNF, as I abandoned this at 21% on my Kindle, it having moved through 3 only vaguely connected vignettes already with little plotting or storyline discernible.
This was a freebie so difficult to complain on that score, but it was neither novella nor short story, and felt more like a series of scenes discarded from other books. Had characters that were complete stereotypes (so much it references Rebecca and Poldark stereotypes without irony), and seemed purposeless.
As my mantra goes "life is too short for a bad book".
Light and fluffy easy read…though nothing happens. Maybe it’s because i haven’t read any other books in the series so not invested in the characters but……nothing happens… well they decorate a tree and wait for a plane to land. Main character thinks about her husband a lot and it seemed like the memories are just bits out of the other books, just fillers. Maybe I should have gone back and checked the age but it seemed a baby months old was constantly eating biscuits and stuff that didn’t seem to make sense for their age. Not bad but not good.
I thought we had seen the last of Julianne and her friends and family, but was really pleased to discover that Laura Briggs did this "A Cornish Christmas Reunion" and it did not disappoint. There are joyous reunions of old friends and how they have lived their lives and where they are leading, you can see how Julianne has progressed into being a mother and doing that alongside her job.
There is a bit of suspense over whether Matt gets home for Christmas and Laura Briggs as the author builds up the suspense and keeps you on the edge of your chair.
I wondered whether the author would be able to do another book in this series as there are so many already but I think if they can be written in this heartfelt way, with a great combination of how peoples lives are progressing and new work coming into the House then I am all for another story. I am sure that I would never get bored with hearing stories about these wonderful people that Laura Briggs has created.
I read this as a standalone as I haven't picked up any of the apparent series. It's a sweet book filled with nostalgic images of Christmas and reuniting friends. Very cute but a little too niche as it's clearly part of a series and all of the meaningful glances just don't have a meaning without the other books.
Normally not my kind of book but with Christmas approaching I gave it a go. Ms Briggs has a beautiful style of writing, elegant, gentle & stylish. Though I enjoyed the light read it wasn't my cup of tea but I can understand why it would appeal to some readers. A nice gentle read but just not my style. A case of "horses for courses " and nothing more.
A book to encourage the Christmas spirit and provide a temporary escape from the hustle and bustle of this time of year. It focuses on family/friends being together for Christmas and creating the perfect setting. Simple and not taxing.
A totally wonderful Christmas tale, that would cheer up the most unhappy soul. Possibly slightly predictable but there is something about a seasonal romance that cheers the soul (in my view anyway).
Have enjoyed reading this Christmas tale the setting is lovely and the house sounds very grand. I liked all the characters as this is the first time I have read one from this author would highly recommend
I tried several times to get in to this book with no joy. No idea why it didnt grab me, normally love any book to do with Cornwall. Felt like I was missing the back story, maybe this is part of a series and I need to read the others but its put me off.
This was a nice add on to a good series. Better to have the other books first so you have an idea as to the relationships and events prior to this book but still a lovely read.
A blanket over my knee and a nice cuppa at the ready, I was settled in for a nice read. This author engages my mind so much that I often feel as though I am part of the storyline
Like comfortable slippers reading Laura's book. The last ones were great but this, although short was really soothing and just like Christmas preparations are in most household's. "Loved It".
A Cornish Christmas Reunion was a fun Christmas read. Okay, I did not have the characters back stories and this story would have been more enjoyable with them, but , it was still a pleasing story. Was there an air of predictability? Somewhat, yes. But there was still much enjoyment to be had.
Easy short read. However insufficient depth for me both in characters and storyline. The emotions of the 2 main characters hoping they would be reunited for Christmas, weather permitting , came over clearly. However if I wanted to track a flight I would phone the airline directly.
This lighthearted book gave an air of nostalgia a grand home being prepared for Christmas and the longing to be with the ones you love over the festive period
It was o.k. Not really my sort of read. I don't usually read books like this. I much prefer historical romance, but it was a freebie and thought to give it a try. 2.5 ☆
