Some of the stories like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Thumbelina are dated. These stories are about marriage and how a woman must marry a man to get rescued from her miserable life. I, a father, don’t feel comfortable reading this rubbish to my daughter.
I snagged this at a bargain basement place in Kentucky - I saw the cover, that there were 365 bedtime stories, and bought it without even opening it. One of my best spontaneous purchases ever. I didn't read the "and Rhymes" part, so I was a teensy bit disappointed to find that there were a lot of rhymes and lullabies. But let's be honest, that was my fault for not reading the title thoroughly. I'm lucky it wasn't '365 Bedtime Stories & XXX Porn'.
Anyway, the stories are really great. Fables, fairy tales, legends. A lot of classics like 'Goldilocks' and even more I've never heard of - a few originals, too! Wonderful little rhymes scattered throughout. But the best part is the artwork. I really love the illustrations and would have been so, so happy to own this beautiful book as a child. As it is, my daughter is currently enjoying it, but I hope some day she'll treasure it. I think this is a book that she could easily pass on to her own children someday.
If you want lots of stories (quantity over quality), this book is perfect. The classics are here too. But many stories are lacking in plot or details or may simply be too simple. For the rhymes alone, the book is worth it.
This is a nice collection of children's stories, fairy tales, and fables in Spanish. The illustrations are not only beautiful and aide me and my son - who are reading these stories to increase our Spanish comprehension - in learning the the language.
God, more memories. My parents give me this on christmas when i turned 6,I loved this so much, I'd reread this a billion of times,HAHAHA. I'm nostalgic now!
A Nursery Rhyme/Story to read your little ones at bedtime, for everyday of the year. This books is such a great one to gift, it is so beautiful and a lovely keepsake book.
I love this book to read to my son. The stories are the perfect length, especially for young children. They range from less than a page to four pages long. Many of them are stories I grew up reading. The illustrations are very pretty and some of the stories even have a moral at the end. The pages also have silver gilded edges and there's a ribbon bookmark to keep your place, so the overall style is pretty. I think it only cost around $10 so it was well worth it!
"365 vakara pasakas un dzejolīši" - 2,5*. Trīs ceturtdaļas pasaku vājas vai viduvējas. Dzejoļus bērns nemaz neļāva lasīt priekšā, un ja godīgi - saprotu viņu. Dažreiz šķiet - ja nav iespējams labskanīgi un sakarīgi pārtulkot, varbūt labāk netulkot vispār. Grāmata, kur spiests uz kvantitāti, ne kvalitāti.
