USA Today Bestselling Author of steamy PNR and fantasy romance.

Ever since my grandmother first handed me a Nora Roberts novel, I KNEW I wanted to write romance.

I love love. Crave it. For me, genre doesn't matter as long as there is a beautifully epic love story woven into the storyline.

Which is exactly why I chose to write across so many genres. Paranormal, fantasy, contemporary, suspense...no matter which of my books you choose you always know what you're getting: a love story for the ages.

And before I was an author, I was a reader! Please be sure to follow me here, or add me as a friend! I love to connect!

The second book is even more fabulous, if possible. Anastasia is one strong character and helps make the story stronger.

This is book two of the Rise of The Phoenix series and continues the story of Ana (Anastasia), the prophesised warrior who is supposed to stop the darkness on Terrenia and the end to the war that is destroying their world. When Vincent takes the darkness and his Brutes to Seattle, he destroys the city and kills thousands. Ana races after him and his army, back to Earth and the city she was brought up in, only to run straight into the man she left behind five years ago! He sees her dressed and armed like those they are fighting against, not knowing how much he can trust her and what she is doing in the city! Vincent’s power hungry march sees him wanting to take Earth as well as all the other worlds out there in the universe. But he puts a spin on his destruction of Seattle, using his magic to fix everything afterwards, making him seem like a hero and saviour to the city! He comes for Ana again and her power just isn’t powerful enough yet, to go up against him. What good is being called the one who can stop the darkness, when she can’t even stand against this evil man?

Vincent has been practising his evil magic since his early childhood and grew to detest the fact his younger brother Gregory wouldn’t use the family magic. Gregory knows that all the men in their family have chosen an evil path with their magic, blaming it on them turning to the dark, whereas maybe they were evil before they even accessed their magic, especially when you see what Vincent I capable of. Gregory has passed this fear to Ana and always told her to stay away from the dark and not use anger to fuel her magic. He has had very little time to try and train her in using her magic, with constant attacks by groups of Brutes. Now Dakota and Ana are working together in Seattle to try and put a stop to Vincent, he has his army of Brutes looking for her, so he can make her join him in his quest for power. Vincent is managing to make her every moment a nightmare with images he is pushing into her head. When he figures out what her weakness is, he uses that against her and plays havoc with her memories, until she can’t tell what is in fact reality and what is fake anymore.

An alliance with the King of the Brutes, Argento, brings a huge lesson in trust from the villagers on Terrenia, after years of their people being killed by those who look exactly the same. A captain in Argento’s guard, wanted to gain power over his people and led a group of renegades against the king and his people. They joined Vincent, with promises of power, prisoners and more, and he isn’t too sure who he can trust anymore! Some key figures are badly injured and the queen of the Brutes killed, all as part of Vincent’s plans for power and to gain Ana’s power or alliance, by any means necessary. We get to meet Ana’s grandmother Carmen, herself quite powerful and the one who saw Ana’s future, the one and only time she met her as a baby. Ana is suffering more pain and abuse at the hands of Mitch and Vincent, and he for one is not happy when she refuses to join him and refuses to use her magic in anger as he wants her to. His constant playing with her mind leads her into a dangerous position and almost all hope is lost at the end of this book. Another cliffhanger of an ending, which leads directly into the next book of the series, Vengeance of The Phoenix. Loads of action and messing with the minds of our hero Ana and her allies, as well as the introduction of another foe in the Trepidoes. This book makes the mind the playing field for most of the action taking place and leaves Ana wondering if she can really stop Vincent, when she finds her magic sorely lacking at the time. Another great read and a series I would recommend to all. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

With this next book I had no idea which direction that Jessica Wayne was going to take us, but I can honestly say that the way that this was written it was done amazingly. I was hooked until the very end and boy, Jessica knows how to end with a massive impact. Yet again, she ended on another cliff-hanger, but it was done just perfectly, I couldn’t find anything to fault it. Throughout the book you can’t help but feel sorry for Anastasia, she’s been dealt a lot in the past few years and honestly the last thing she thought she would ever be able to have is Dakota, so the fact that he’s now in her world she is just shocked but happy. I seriously can’t wait to dive into the next one because judging by the ending of this one, I have a feeling that things are only just going to get more intriguing.

The last thing Anastasia ever expected was to be told her destiny for life was to take down her evil Uncle, but whilst she has excelled at a lot of things whilst being back home, she has also discovered a lot of loss. Things haven’t been easy on her, but now that she has her best friend by her side, nothing could be more perfect, (well, that’s without having to figure a way to save her home and the people in it). However, things end up taking a turn for the worse and Anastasia does the only thing that she thinks is best at the time, by trying to save Dakota she ends up sacrificing herself to her Uncle by thinking that she can take him down, little does she realise that he has plans for her and will do anything he can to get her to turn over to the dark side. Is there a way for her to escape and for Dakota to reach her or is she set to live up to what her Uncle wants?

There are a lot of little things that have really started to bug me. The MC is battling the evil character for the health of the realmS (plural). Yet the numbers she brings in is puny (a couple dozen from 1 group, 36 from another group etc.). She portals to one location on a realm and recruits. That’s it. 1 location=realm. A realm must be synonymous with village.

The numbers don’t add up whatsoever. There are battles every couple of pages with casualties most every time and she has been doing this for years. There is no way a village would have anyone left, let alone warriors after the numerous battles.

She goes to recruit from one group known for being untrustworthy. She asks the leader for assistance. The leader says sure and she just opens the portal and brings the group back. She doesn’t even ask the group why they are helping. The group didn’t even really get any details. They just said sure. Come on, that is horrible writing.

In the first book the female MC and love interest have been deeply bound since they were a year old. When reunited after several years, they sleep in separate beds/couches. Come on again they are not 12 years old having a sleepover. They are adults. The author is much more comfortable with violence than romance. It didn’t read as not sex positive but more along the lines of typical USA puritanical roots (prudes).

“Death of the Phoenix”, the second book in the “Prophecy” Series by Jessica Wayne, takes over from the first and hits the ground running, action non-stop from battle to battle, while still finding time for some character development. The story picks up on the previous cliffhanger and drives the reader through the battle, from page to page until a new cliffhanger end, well don’t say you didn’t see that coming 😊

Anastasia does not get a reprieve, just as she thought she was somehow succeeding, Seattle has been destroyed and she makes it her personal task to undo the damage and save the realms by opening portals and recruiting warriors throughout the realms and face the enemy as an united force.

It is a very well-written book that succeeds in narrating Anastasia story as a blend of realistic fiction and supernatural fantasy, what appears as an oxymoron at first sight is actually an exceptionally well-crafted plot that mixes action, supernatural romance and elements of thriller into an extremely enjoyable story. My only question (not critique though, as fantasy knows no boundaries) would be, where are that seemingly infinite number of contenders coming from? They seem to pop incessantly every couple of pages as the Turok-han did from the Hellmouth 😉

This is book 2 in this series, so definitely read book 1 first or you may be a bit behind in understanding what is going on. I own the boxset for this series, and loved the first book, so I was excited to continue with this book! It didn’t disappoint. Also, this story used to be called Fighter and was released before; I get a little frustrated when that’s not mentioned in the synopsis, so I wanted to mention it in case you already own that book. In the boxset I bought, the story is called Fighter.

Such a cool series with plenty of unique ideas. Fun and entertaining! The premise with the different dimensions/realms is interesting, and I absolutely love, love the deep connection between Anastasia and Dakota. These two are put through the ringer in this book. Ana’s evil uncle is out to have ultimate power and take over all the realms, and Ana is prophesied to stop it. Unfortunately, Ana hasn’t reached her full potential, so her uncle is doing a good job of keeping her down. Love all the magical elements, and there’s some awesome action. This does have a cliffhanger, so be prepared for that. It’s a doozy of a cliffhanger! I’m excited to read the next one. I’m glad I have the boxset!

🗡️🗡️ONE EXCELLENT ADVENTURE🗡️🗡️
Blazing blizzards! Jessica spins this action packed, hard hitting, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, page flipping, block buster, gripping you from the start and holding steady until the end, hurling this bad boy to a whole new level. Flung into a minefield full of riveting drama, perilous intrigue, ruthless pursuits, vicious deeds, spiraling danger, swirling suspense and nerve racking situations, kicking this baby into the eye of the storm, blowing it into a tailspin with mind-blowing results, melding this bad boy together seamlessly. Cunning maneuvers and clever strategy descend in a churning vortex of nailbiting encounters and brutal tactics, observing the blurred lines, broken barriers and crushed perimeters solidify as limitations are amplified and enforced, knocking down walls and bringing the heat, exposing the devious quirks and defying bents, reaching deep for every ounce of strength in a fierce surge of preservation and determination, exploding this bad boy to life spectacularly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity with enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that so rich and lively as though you can just reach out and touch it. Remarkable job Jessica, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.

Things are not looking good for our heroine and her crew. Can they find the strength to carry on, let alone beat the big bad?

This is book two of the series. As this is a direct follow on to book one, I do not recommend starting here. Start at the beginning to get the full impact of the story.

This is an urban fantasy story featuring a phoenix main character, which sets it apart for me as I don't think I have seen that before. The story is very well written and easy to read with an action filled plot that keeps things moving along. The characters are well developed and the setting is nicely detailed. My only word of warning is that this is a middle book, so things to do wrap up nicely at the end. There is clearly more to come. I, for one, will be looking forward to it eagerly.

Highly recommended.

So we are back with book 2 after we had Poor Ana just find her missing light for her to her to be pulled away again. BOOK 2 i found was a great fill in the blanks and plot development and set a few more twist that look like they comingin future books. We now been back and forwards between a few worlds and meet new character and challenges to help show Ana she is strong not that broken abused girl in book 1. This book is definitely more volatile and may cause abuse triggers. But this book was set to help strengthen the character but putting them thur hell. I did find this book drag a tad by over explaining things and repetitive feelings but definitely can't wait to read book 3 to see where this story leads too. After losing her eyesight in a riding accident, this brave young woman made it her mission to act as normal as possible so people did not treat her like an invalid. When her father died and left her mother and her in dire straits, her mother sold their manor house and much of the furnishings. Things were not good in their new home with her new stepfather but she tried not to let her revulsion for him show. When blackmailed to marry the new owner of her childhood home, she has no choice but to agree. It is one misunderstanding after another until finally, things click into place and they live HEA. i LOVE everything i have ever read by Jessica. I love the passion she puts into the book and the way she keeps me wanting to have more and more each time. I have taken longer to read this book than any of her others and the only reason was we were in the process of moving. I would recommend any of her books to you if you the suspense of not knowing whats coming next but want to keep reading until you finish the whole book! She is AMAZING at what she does!

I liked this book but sometimes question how strong she really is. I mean I know she’s new to magic (5 years) but I think she should know things that she doesn’t seem to think about. But then I think back and she didn’t have much training so I can understand. There’s a lot going on and nooooo I can’t believe Brady!! What will happen...

A fantastic next-in-series; like #1, this one also ends on a nail-biting cliffhanger, so it'll be an impatient wait til the next one. The thrilling story introduced in the first book continues, with more action, more suspense, and more incredible world-building, with so many twists you'll never see any of them coming. A great read.

This is a great continuation of the series. It's exciting and gripping, I couldn't put it down as I was completely hooked. I really feel for Ana and everything she's been through. It's so well written and the storyline is exciting, i'm never fully sure where she's going to go with it. It ends on a cliffhanger again and I can't wait for the next book.

This second book in the Rise of the Phoenix series starts off with a bang, and doesn't stop! Continuing from where book one ended, we pick right up. There are so many twists, and action. My heart was broken more than once. Of course, the romance between Ana and Dakota is fabulous, if not tested time and again! I highly recommend this book!

I found this one to be probavly even better than the first book in this series. Things are starting to fall into place, even if just when you think that Ana is catching a break, it is all swiped away from her at the last moment. Action packed, with tons of suspense, this is a hang onto the edge of your seat read. I cannot wait to read the next book.

Book was good but after two books she has had her butt kicked, kidnapped, manipulated. I’m ready for her to start kicking butt. She is supposed to be the most powerful person but continually gets out smarted every time. Fixing to start 3rd book, maybe she starts the butt kicking
