This reminded me of a really bad TV show with truly bad acting.

The premise sounded good but unfortunately it didn't pull through. There were so many things that didn't add up, there were too many coincidences, and talk about bad dialog. I was truly hoping this was going to be fantastic but...I'm sorry to say, I didn't like it. I literally skimmed, read a few sentences here and there. By 70% I just skipped chapters. I didn't want another dnf so I skipped and skimmed.

I'll give an A for effort though

Chills and terror with suspense that never stops

If your a fan of Ann Grove you WIll NOT be disappointed with her second novel
His Burning Ember is truely a maze of twist and turns and absolutely full of suspense with each chapter you read , this Author kept me guessing
RIGHT UP TO THE very end of the book .
You will meet Ember a unassuming 23 year old never had a boyfriend in her whole life .. Finds herself involved ,if only in her own mind with one of the most interesting men who keeps returning the place where she is employed . It doesn't stop her from accepting a date from this customer ,and doing so sets in motion several strange acts that puts her directly involved with the Autumn Falls rapist this book is fast pace ,exciting and WELL written book. This plot deals with mature situations which Miss grove handles it with Utmost care and Windom.

In Burning Ember, we meet Ember, a young woman who has faced her share of hardships, making her story both gripping and deeply emotional. Ember’s life is marked by resilience, though fate seems to have dealt her a difficult hand. Following a traumatic event, she finds solace in her best friend, who steps in as her protector and guide. This latest hardship is just the “icing on top of the pie” of life’s challenges for Ember, who bravely attempts to piece herself back together.

Just as she starts to regain a sense of normalcy, Ember meets a man who seems like everything she’s ever hoped for: attentive, caring, and making her feel beautiful in a way she’s never experienced before. As a woman in her twenties who has never been in a relationship or even kissed anyone, his attention is thrilling and she can’t help but be captivated. She’s cautious, scarred by her past, but eventually lets her guard down, trusting that his feelings are genuine.

However, a series of unnerving incidents begin to crop up, leaving Ember feeling watched and vulnerable. She suspects a stalker, and though he initially appears to be her safe harbor, her protector starts to show cracks in his façade. The suspense only builds as Ember’s life starts spiraling out of control, and she finds herself questioning everything—her relationships, her safety, even her perception of reality. She is tossed around in a whirlwind of emotions and threats, unsure of who to trust or where to turn.

Burning Ember is a rollercoaster of suspense and emotional tension, perfectly capturing Ember’s inner turmoil and the terrifying confusion of not knowing who has your back. The author has crafted a story that digs deep into themes of resilience, love, betrayal, and the hard journey of finding strength when life seems only to offer more challenges. You’ll find yourself rooting for Ember, hoping she can rise above the chaos and find the peace she deserves on the other side—because surely, the grass has to be greener over there.

If you’re looking for a story that mixes suspense, romance, and a powerful journey of self-discovery, Burning Ember will keep you hooked from the very first page.

I had a very hard time putting this book down! The main character Ember is very sweet, and very young. Never even been kissed in fact. And then she’s viciously attacked by a rapist, which sets off a string of events that make her into a total bad @ss that I rooted for the whole way. They live in a small town, Ember works in the bakery. She’s kind of a clutz, maybe a bit scatterbrained (is her phone ever charged? Lol) but you really grow to love the character. I absolutely loved the action scenes, was completely enthralled and felt like I was actually there. Some of the most vivid scenes I’ve ever read. No spoilers, but at one point I actually gasped out loud and made my cat jump! Enjoyed this every step of the way, especially the ending. I think this book would be absolutely decadent to read on a beach with a fruity beverage while on vacation! 🍹

Talk about complicated love affairs. This book is full of them, and it revolves around two young ladies. There is a rapist, but he goes to prison, right? Then someone else is leaving Ember unwelcome gifts and breaking into her home. There are a lot of unanswered questions, but can Ember live thru the answers? Very good book.

This is not the kind of book I would typically pick to read. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it so much. It kept my attention the entire time. Although some of the romance was a bit mushy for me, it fit well in the story line. The characters are dynamic. I felt a connection to the main character, Ember. There are several intensely violent moments in the book, so I wouldn't recommend it to someone for whom that is a trigger. Otherwise, I would definitely suggest this book for someone who is looking for a quick read full of suspense.
