Great short review of Lenin's life and accomplishments. It does however paint a very positive picture of Lenin and his revolution and asserts multiple times that Lenin's decisions were the only right ones (instead of treating them like the best decisions that could have been made by Lenin at the time, while leaving open the possibility that Lenin erred). This puts primarily Trotsky in a, in my opinion, too negative light, and discounts his contributions towards the establishment of the eventual Soviet Union.
All in all an interesting book to start to get to know Lenin outside of the Western conception of him.

Read the French translation.
Although this is clearly a work of propaganda, I thought it very interesting.
Lenin must have been a very charismatic man because his life and ideas were very coherent.
Hence my fascination and patience to finish this book.
Disturbing is the hagiographic nature of this biographical essay.
Disturbing is the closing chapter in which the failures of the communist system in Russia is not at all recognised.
It's very interesting to see where the central points of communism of which I learnt in school (internationalism, federation of independent republics, New economical politics, the party as vanguard of the proletariat) came from.

Apart from being a book of propaganda with military style assertions, it is not bad for a starter about Lenin. Definitely biased and so a more neutral reading would be required. Consider also that this is written in the mid 70's when USSR was still boastful of the socialist model, I think this book is an interesting read then from this perspective.
