I would like to get into the mode of "meal prep", bur I haven't yet mastered keeping the steps and ingredients for both my wife's meals ans my meals in my head at the same time.

Are you ever really "finished" with a cookbook?

I love J.L.'s attitude toward cooking, meal prep, and living a cruelty-free life. I bought this book when it came out and flipped through it then, but have been "cooking the book"during the month of January. I have not made every recipe, but have enjoyed those that I have made. J.L. has a "secret" ingredient in her Not-Tuna salad that I really enjoy . . . I have made that the past 2 weeks in a row.

Anyone looking to eat more plants or start preparing meals for the week should give this book a look-see.

Great system for new vegan

This is what I’ve been looking for, an easy to follow vegan eating plan. My vegan diet has been all over the place or sometimes just boring and monotonous. I love the way she simplified the batch cooking according to themes with menus, ingredients, recipes, and notations at the end. I’m going to eat better and so will my vegan daughter. An excellent read. Can’t wait to get started.

This definitely skews very very heavily towards healthy, and lacking in flavor. Good book for those who are living on a very small number of calories a day and don't mind repetition.

Knuckle-head. That is what I am. I have had this book for some time now. I kept putting it to the bottom of the to be read pile! I am not sure why as the cover is so colorful and enticing. Again, I am a knuckle-head.

Let us (lettuce) begin!

Dedication. The book is dedicated to the animals. Awww. I love this. I am no bleeding heart _____ (insert descriptive here). I just love animals. I would love to have my own ark filled with two of every one of them. Except stink bugs. No room on my ark. Sorry, next ark for you stink bugs.

Next is some useful information regarding veganism and meal prepping. I have been meal prepping and a vegan for some time now so I glanced at it only. But I am sure this information would be super useful to a new cook or new vegan.

The book also includes 5-day menus and shopping lists. I never partake of these in a cookbook. I am not sure why. Maybe one day.

Part II of the book is the recipes, of course. My favorite part! It begins, like it should, with breakfast. Even though I never eat breakfast – in the morning – I do partake in the breakfast for dinner movement. Yes, it is a movement! Join in! We are rebels. We don’t follow no stinking rules. Breakfast for Dinner Movement!!

There are some wonderful tips with the recipes. Some for variations with ingredients, time saving, different modes of cooking i.e. pressure cooker, etc.

Also included is a blurb on storage for each recipe. Important step for the meal prepper!

The main course chapter has several I need to try soon.

My favorite chapter, in any cookbook is sauces, dressings and dips. (I am a liar – it is dessert. The sauces… is really my second favorite). Sauces etc. can change any base meal. Perfect for leftovers. Change up what your meal is swimming in and it tastes like an entirely new meal. This book delivers! The pesto recipe is so unique. I cannot wait to try that on a pizza! And I’m drooling over the curried peanut butter.

The book does not need to be called vegan. It is really for anybody. All these recipes would make super building blocks for anybody that likes to eat. And let us face it, who does not like to eat?
The photos that are included are great…but there is not a photo for all. So, I need to deduct a star. But four stars is not too shabby! Great book indeed.

Vegan Meal Prep fits a much-needed niche in the vegan cookbook genre. JL Fields is a master of umami and good simple flavor, and she organizes this cookbook for you to follow her prepared meal plans (listed at the beginning of the cookbook) or just cook as you wish (the recipes are together by type, not by food plan, but each recipe has the meal plan # on its margin). All the recipes I've tried have been delicious, thus far, and simple to prepare. The book is organized with a number of prep week options, recipes divided by category, and both a general index and an allergy-oriented checklist of recipes. If one is gluten-free or soy-free, etc., one can simply look at the chart to see which recipes will fit one's meal plan. Every recipes includes instructions on storage, with freezer and refrigerator instructions. Many options for easy food prep to keep you eating vegan!

My favorite recipes include the Savory Oats (I love creative savory breakfasts!), Pumpkin Oats, and the No-Tuna Salad, which is worth the price of the cookbook alone. There is a "banana bread bar" recipe that is whole food and easy, as well as a coconut chocolate truffle without refined sugars.

For those of us who are vegan for the animals, but also want to be healthy, this book fills that need. Resolve can falter when we are hungry and unprepared for dinner, and advance preparation can keep us on track. Thank you JL for a fabulous guide to easy veganism!

This book has been a life saver for my busy schedule. The meals are tasty and I really appreciate that the author has listed out the calories and macros of the meals. It makes it super easy to log into something like "MyFitnessPal" or another tracking app.

Since my work involves a lot of local travel and driving I'm not always near a microwave. I appreciate that this book has a plethora of recipes that work with my crazy schedule. But it does mean there are a few meals in this book that I haven't tried because I don't have a way to heat them up at work.

I may take it a step further and start meal prepping my dinners and then I can try some of the other recipes in this book.

If you're looking for healthy food for your on the go lifestyle and want it to be vegan, this is the right book for the job!

I was immediately impressed with this book from the second I read the introduction. I am not an experienced or savvy cook and I need recipes that are easy, fun, and sill tasty. JL Fields does a great job of breaking meal prepping down for the layman and providing delicious easy recipes. It's a step by step guide with different weekly scenarios and shopping lists to help the reader master meal prepping, you can get as involved (or not) as you want. The pictures and running commentary also help make everything crystal clear. I haven't tried all the recipes (yet) but I certainly plan on it; so far the breakfasts and mason jar meals have been my favorites. A staple for kitchens and good enough that I will certainly look into getting more cookbooks from this author!

Part 1 of this book talks bout Vegan eating, meal prep ideas and food shopping lists.
Part 2 includes all the recipes and are broken down between breakfast, lunches and dinner, vegetables, grains and beans, sauces dressings and dips, snacks and sweets.
The recipes are easy to follow and understand, but no pictures.
There is also a recipe index in the back of the book which will also indicate whether a recipe is gluten free, nut free, or oil free.
I have not tried all the recipes yet, but I still recommend reading this book and trying the recipes if you're interested in the vegan lifestyle. I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

Honestly, I was kind of disappointed by the first batch of meals I made out of this book. There were one or two recipes I really liked, but all-in-all I felt they just weren't very substantial. I'll give it another go and see how I feel (and maybe increase or decrease the star rating). At this point though I'd recommend people maybe sticking to fun Pinterest recipes instead of going out and buying this book.

Great ideas for prepping

I've been eating WFPB (While Food Plant Based) for almost 2 years, was vegan before that. I feel that I'm pretty good at prepping ahead but always like to see more tips and ideas. This book provides that along with some great recipes. While it's not completely WFPB as oil is used in some recipes, I would recommend to anyone needing some healthy ideas and recipes.

Such a simple concept- I know it’s easy for a lot of people to grasp, but. I do so much better with step by step guides/recipes.

I love how easy it’s all explained, laid out, and shopping lists. May not be for everyone- but I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is busy, or wants a clear cut plan to follow, or even just some quick and simple recipes.❤️

really solid cookbook and actually goes into the process of doing meal prep! i think this would be fantastic for someone new to cooking or new to vegan cooking, needing that extra guidance on process. because there's recipes, but there's also suggested meal plans and a step by step on how to get everything done as efficiently as possible.

The average “meal” is about 200-300 calories. You would need to consume 6-8 “meals” per day in order to not starve yourself. A more accurate title would be “Vegan Snack Prep”
