This book features characters from the Agency universe. It can be read stand-alone.
Take a trip back in time and read about our "The Agency" heroines' younger days. Books in the When We Were Young women's fiction series feature Elizabeth Grey's usual mix of laugh-out-loud comedy and dramatic angst.
Freja is a live-for-the-moment kind of girl. She knows who she is and what she wants, and what she wants is to be a world-famous actress, drink a lot of cocktails, and enjoy all the fabulousness life in LA has to offer. She’s not looking for love. She’s been there, done that, and left the T-shirt behind in Denmark.
But then she meets Nate Klein, and suddenly Freja wonders if she really does know what she wants. She obviously wants his delicious body, but maybe, just maybe, she wants something more…
Nate is handsome, funny, kind - everything Freja could ask for. But his father is a wealthy, powerful man. A man who is determined that the heir to his empire will not end up with a part-time waitress who wants to be a movie star. And he will stop at nothing to get his way.
This book contains a scene of non-graphic assault which some readers might find upsetting.
FRIENDLY NOTE: All of Elizabeth’s books feature realistic characters who do things real people do (like have sex) and say things real people say (like drop f-bombs).
He swings around a hairpin bend in the road, skimming inches from an articulated truck, and I half expect him to say “Meep meep”.
Things take a darker turn for a while but everything is well-written and relatable.
The comedy that I have come to love about this author is there. Well-written believable characters and a fantastic plot. I'm off to read Second Chance, the follow-up right now. Practically perfect in every way!
I was pleased that I read this book first before I go to the next agency series. Freja was a free-spirited and easy going woman but problems she had was huge. Hope the next book series will satisfy me with happy endings.
When Freya’s character is introduced in the 2nd Agency story, it was quickly apparent that she is an automatic friend to all with a 3D personality to match. Reading this story, the heartbreak that was inferred to within Violet’s story, brings it a full 360 and explains just how insightful she is and why. Loved it and can not wait for Second Chance :-)
Was a bit disappointed with this story, after all had read most of it whilst reading the agency, but was really annoyed with the ending as according to the Agency series Nate went to see her about cheating on him, in this book she just let him go, sorry Elizabeth but I do wish authors like yourself remember what they had written previously, also would like to know if there is a book 6 in The Agency series as I feel left in the air as to what happened to his Father in the end. ???
