Hey there! Before I tell you all about myself, can I invite you to join my private Rachel's Readers Facebook group? That's where my readers hang out, discuss my books, participate in giveaways and learn about new releases.
So who am I? My name is Rachel Hanna, and I am a wife, mother of three incredible kids (maybe I am a BIT biased?), two lovable doggies and one cat that lives outside and thinks he owns the world. Okay, I also have a gecko now too. Don't judge me.
I started writing as a young child, and I went into the field of Journalism for many years as an adult. Now, as a romantic fiction writer, I get to live out my own daydreams every single day and share them with readers around the world!
I'm a Southern chick living near Atlanta, so I say "yes, ma'm" and "ya'll", but I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
Both Claire and Jake desperately needed a second chance this Christmas
Claire was a professional ballerina in New York and had been invited to audition for the New York Ballet. Then she injured her knee and her career as a ballerina was over. Buying the dance studio in January Cove, GA was her second chance. Jake had always wanted to be a firefighter and he loved his profession until that night when he saved the young girl from the fire and went back in for her family only to have the house implode. He had promised Emmy that he would save her family and the guilt at failing was more than he could bear. He took his young daughter, Cassie and moved back to January Cove where he grew up. He and Cassie were living with his sister and her husband. Susan signed Cassie up for dance classes and offered to help Claire spread the word about her dance studio. Jake helps Claire when a pipe breaks in her studio bathroom. He doesn't feel that he deserves to be happy, but finds that he really enjoys spending time with Claire. Also, his daughter really enjoys dance and likes Claire. Claire has really fallen for Jake but knows he is still battling nightmares from that fire. She is not sure she can date to hope for a future with him and Cassie. Is it possible to have a Christmas miracle?
I love January Cove! No one is a stranger because the community opens its heart & arms & welcomes you in. Claire is a retired ballerina with an injured kenn starting up a ballerina studio in a new town where she doesn’t know anyone.
Jake Evers is a firefighter who is still struggling with a terrible fire & feelings of guilt. He’s brought his daughter Cassie home to January Cove to be closer to his sister & her family.
Can Claire & Jake help each other heal & move on with their lives? The interactions that they have & those that include Cassie give the story added dimension & strength. Jake’s memories of the fire are tastefully described but lend legitimacy to the thoughts of suffering from PTSD as do his flashbacks. This story is written as a story of love & second chances, not for shock value.
This was a story about two broken people: Claire, a ballerina who hurt her knee and would never dance at the same professional level again and Jake, a firefighter who lives with the guilt of not saving a family from a burning building. Jake has worked hard as a single father to support his daughter Cassie and he feels like he’s failed her lately. Claire is taking on a new challenge running a dance studio and she dreams of getting married and having a family before it’s too late. Jake doesn’t think he deserves her after not saving that family and Claire thinks he might just be playing her and is afraid to let him in and get hurt. There were plenty of funny, romantic, and at times sad moments in this sweet holiday romance.
Claire is suffering from an injury that ended her dance career so she has come to January Cove to open a dance school.
She meets Jake who is the Uncle of one of her mew dance students. He moved back to January Cove after he has a devastating experience. He is staying with his sister until he can pick up the pieces to start over and try to move past it.
Then Claire finds out she has to build a float for the January Cove Christmas parade. She has no idea where to begin so Jake offers to help.
Read this Novella to see if they are able to heel each other.
This is such a nice story and sweet romance. Author Rachel Hannah describes pre-Christmas festivities in January Cove so well that you want to be there, and she does such a good job of getting inside her characters’ heads. Jake and Claire each have their own issues, and their relationship is very much about second chances – in relationships and in life. This novella is a fast read with a happy ending – just right for Christmas! Enjoy a visit to January Cove!
Jake and Claire have both had setbacks in their careers and come to January Cove to get a fresh start. Claire helps Jake to understand that what happened wasn't really his fault even though he blames himself. In helping him, her eyes are opened to the opportunity to maybe have everything she's ever wanted too! Quick and enjoyable read that I would definitely recommend. My first "visit" to January Cove and I hope to read more. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I read to the 85% point, wondering if there was going to be a ‘romance’ in this romance, or not. Finally, at that late point in the story, we have a first kiss. So underwhelming it was, that it just irritated me more than anything else. I have no further interest in even finishing, at this point, and have deleted it from my kindle. Sadly, this is a ‘romance’ I wouldn’t recommend.
MS Hanna did it again! This novella lets us into the lives of two main characters, A burned out fireman and a injured ballerina. As time goes by this couple discover feelings they thought were lost to them. I love how this story ends and I look forward to reading more of Rachel Hannah's stories!
This story is so appropriate for the last in the January Cove series. Sweet, poignant characters, love in the air, and above all, Christmastime. Everything turns out the way it should, and that’s a wrap! On to Whiskey Ridge. Hoping to love those stories as much a the first two Series!
Claire is a professional ballerina who has come to January Cove to make a new start after a career ending injury. Jake is a single father recovering from a traumatic event. When fate throws them together, can these two lost souls heal one another?
The holiday season brings some glitter and light into two hearts seeking a new goal in life when the original goal gets derailed a truly entertaining story.
Ii definitely believe in second chances and I would love to be a resident in January Cove — I have completed the entire series plus the two novellas and feel so good!!!
Second Chance Christmas: A January Cove Romance Novella is by Rachel Hanna. There is just some magic in January Cove. It can’t be seen, smelled, touched, or felt. It is just there. In Second Chance Christmas, magic is full out. Claire Thomas left her life in New York City to set up a dance studio in January Cove. She was on her way to her dream of dancing with the New York City Ballet when she suffered a knee injury that put her dancing to an end. She could dance enough to teach; but not enough to dance for a career. At first, she didn’t want to teach children; but the more she thought of it the more excited she became until she purchased the dance studio and renovated it. She was ready to begin. Jake Evers also lost his career in a flash. Only, he lost his on National news. He was called a hero; but heroes don’t let people die and don’t forget promises. He had been a firefighter in Boston. In a house fire, he had located a little girl and got her out. Her parents and siblings were still inside and he promised her he would get them out. However, the house imploded and they were gone. He was now in his sister’s guest room and he and Cassie lived here. When Cassie decided she wanted to join the dance studio, Jake met Claire and thought she was really nice. Could this be the second chance his sister talked about?
