This was just an ok book for me. When I read the other series of the No Cal Chapter I was aware that the next series of the SO Cal chapter would be a lot more darker. The men from this chapter were way more violent, crude, and really had no respect for women. Smokey was definitely hard for me to like... I have read books with anti-heroes before; but I was able to see underneath their asshole-ness! With Smokey, there wasn’t a lot of redeemable qualities to him. He was nasty and treated Braylyn horribly. Even towards the end his excuses for being the way he was just didn’t generate any kind of empathy from me.
I will still check out the other books in this series but I’m really hoping the other men have some decency hidden away under their cuts!!

So my first review got lost in the nether world which is extremely irritating…so for the second time…..
Smokey is the worst! I don’t like him and never will .
Smokey kidnaps Bray to get revenge on her family for killing his family. He is A nasty slut of a man who gets off on degradation and torture. He is obsessed with torturing and raping Bray then he wants to send her back to her family so they will feel what he feels. He likes to bite and bruise and draw blood. He’s a sadist and she’s a masochist— but this is assumed. He rapes and pillages her for weeks to the point she tries to kill herself with a razor blade— even though she gets off on the sex. He finally starts to feel something for her but then he decides he has to trade her back to her family for a club girl who was kidnapped by them. He knows she will be tortured and murdered by her family because he has marked her. He’s a weak minded man controlled by demons of revenge. After she’s been in the hands of her family for awhile he decides— too late in the game— to ride to the rescue. He’s assuming she’s dead but at least he tried… then surprise she’s alive and preggers. She had tried to slit her wrist again to escape the ongoing torture. Smokey thinks his dick is the cure for whatever ails Bray— so despite weeks of torture— there he goes again. In the epilogue he finally tells her he loves her after she punches him with in the face for trying to leave her and their daughter… and they live happily never after.

Smoking Hot!!!
Oh, MC lovers this is the book for you if you like dark and dirty. Smokey’s family is gunned down by another MC so he is seeking revenge by kidnapping their Prez’s daughter. He plans to take her, break her, mark her and then send her back to her family hoping that they will feel some of the pain that he is going through. The darkness that has plagued him has left no boundaries that he would not cross.
Braylynn has a surprise for Smokey; she’s already broken. No matter what Smokey does to her it almost seems like she’s already been there. Smokey has watched and planned this for quite some time and would never have guessed that the sexy and beautiful MC Princess would react the way she has.
I have to say that I’m a huge fan of Ms. Trejo’s with the way she is not afraid to give it to you in some of the darkest and dirtiest ways…as MC’s should be in my opinion. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series.

I really really wanted to like this more than I did, but I need to connect with the main characters and I just didn't with either of them. Smokey's treatment of Braylynn in the beginning is expected and his first scene with Bri didn't matter, but to me, the second one did and I didn't care about him anymore. I totally got Braylynn's first attempt (you'll have to read to know what I'm talking about) but not the second. I like my female characters being strong and showing it. Overall this book of revenge played out as expected with a bit of a plot surprise. Not sure if I'll dive into book 2 or not but I do like ET's writing so probably.

The writing from this author as always is spot on. The story telling is incredible, enough details to get you up to speed but yet not enough that you get side tracked.
Soooo you may wonder what was my problem. Well for starters, Braylynn or rather her character. I found her character was so under developed, she was a door mat and way too weak for my taste. I never really got to know and/or connect with her character throughout, I felt the author didn't get me enough on her. yes, her background was horrible but yet I never felt like a had an inner read on her. I couldn't connect and quite frankly she was just too much of a pushover:(
Smokey was a bastard, I mean a cold heartless bastard BUT yet I felt like I knew him. I didn't quite care for the ending...I felt it was a HFN not a HEA. I also hated that he still had doubts at the end and hadn't confessed his love until the end. All in all I was def disappointed in this book, in the hero's actions esp when he gave or rather just let her go....BIG turn-off!!!!! After that I was not invested in the story and read because I was almost towards the end:( . very disappointing read for me and too bad because the synopsis had me chomping at the bit for this one.

Bray is one strong woman
As for Smokey I wanted to smack some sense into him. He let his Demons control who he is. I get he went through a tragedy but take it out on the right person. Bray had been through enough.
Bray helps control Smokey's darkness. Some good comes out of it all.

I received this book for an honest review. What an amazing beginning to the Soulless Bastards MC So Cal series these strong bikers who love the brotherhood and the strong women that enter their lives. This was an emotional, dark story filled with drama, kidnapping, murder, betrayal , revenge and lots of steam. This is not your normal romance story but about Smokey VP of the Soulless Bastards who is a broken man left with only hate and revenge in his heart when his family was murdered by a rival MC. Now the only thing that is on his mind is to take the MC President's daughter Bray, he wants to break her, hurt her and then return her to her father a broken women. But the tides turn when he learns what her life was like with her father's club and the abuse that was meted out to her. When he has to return her for a trade, he is distraught as he finds himself wanting her. Now Smokey and the brotherhood will do everything they can to get her back as Bray is the only one who can show him that he can love and not be the monster he became. This book is one story you will not be able to put down, can't wait for the next one. I highly recommend this book. Well done Erin!!!!

After reading the Soulless No Cal boys, I was so excited to dive into the So Cal boys. WOW, it was worth the wait! Smokey, tormented by his past and seeking revenge. Braylynn unsure of her place in life but looking for more with no idea of what that is or where to find it. Paths cross because of revenge with secrets coming to light along the way with other club business. The twists and turns, the mentions of the other boys and having their help along the way with everything that happens. Show that the MC is more than just friends they are definitely family, through thick and thin and helping each other with different ways their lives may go! Can not wait for the next book.

We've had the No Cal Chapter,here's the So Cal, and what a start this is, lots of fast paced action, a kidnapping, a traitor, what starts as revenge turns to something else, this is Smokey, the club's VP and Braylynn, the daughter of a rival club's story and the thing I love the most, is when characters you know and love make a guest appearance, this maybe a dark romance but it is also so much more and I cannot wait to get my next fix, I thought No Cal was my favourite of the brothers, but I can see myself loving these even more.it

I love, love this spin off!! We get introduced to a whole new Soulless Bastards MC chapter. Smokey is the VP of the So Cal chapter and he is out for revenge and is going to make Braylynn pay for her father’s sins. He captures Bray and tries to break and brand her. Bray isn’t the typical MC princess, she has determination and grit going for her. She knows why he’s exacting revenge and feels bad whilst understanding. Once Smokey is done with her can he really send her back to face imminent death? I can’t wait for this series to continue!!

This dark MC Romance is well-written with violence, abuse, revenge, a reawakening of feelings and wonderfully realistic main characters. The H is damaged after a tragic loss and is filled with vengeance towards the rival MC who perpertrated it. The h is the MC rival's daughter and is already broken, ruining the planned revenge. When the exchange is to be made, the reawakened feelings come into play. Very compelling and intense read. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

I love Smokey! He is rough and doesn't care what anyone thinks. He may have started out wanting to hurt Braylynn, but things change once he finally got his hands on her. Braylynn is broken and just looking for a way out.

Intense story!!
It was difficult to read this story at first as the way that Smokey treated Braylynn was cruel and unnecessary. However, this is a well written story which had me intrigued throughout and I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend for all MC lovers.

Fascinating take on MC life by Erin Trejo - the storyline is gripping and suspenseful, the characters are rude, crude and colorful and just downright sexy. Smokey changed after his family was killed hell bent on revenge but when he got Braylynn Tanner, he was in for a huge surprise. The woman who was supposed to bring him closure and revenge will bring him so much more.

wow where to start with this book! he had his life ripped away from him. now he wants revenge. so he takes the daughter and uses her until she is broken. only something happens that he might want to keep her. some want her dead others want her back. you must read to find out what happens.

Omg!!! Smokey had my feelings about him teetering towards dislike. Then as I saw how he changed after being around Bray, I loved him! This book was at times a hard read but as I got more into Smokey's pain I saw why. This book was brilliantly written! I can't wait for the next book!
