Wreath Between the Lines is the 7th book in the Cookbook Nook Mysteries written by Daryl Wood Gerber. In this Christmas-focused installment, Jenna's father's best friend, Old Jake, is in trouble. A good friend has been murdered, and it appears like either Jake did it, or because the two men looked a lot alike, Jake had been the intended victim.
I've read all the previous books in this series, plus several other series from the author. This one is set on the Coast of California, and Jenna, a ~35ish bookstore/cafe owner is rebuilding her life after her husband's disappearance and death. She's fallen in love again, but everyone around her is getting married and having babies. Is she ready for a big step?
As Jenna investigates the crime, she digs deep into missing stamps, lost relatives, and anger about Christmas tree lights. A neighbor hated Old Jake, and he threatened to kill him too. What about the strange two sisters who showed up, plus the new man dating Gran. Lots of potential characters could be the guilty party.
The book was an easy read, one of my favorites, and it shows how the series is really getting good at this point. I have three more to go, and I'll finish them in the next few weeks, so that I'm caught up and can turn to the author's other series under a pseudonym, Avery Aames. Onward we go!

Dollycas’s Thoughts
It’s almost Christmas in Crystal Cove and Jenna is excited about all the upcoming festivities until her father’s friend Jake arrives at her door with tragic news. He arrived home to find his friend Geoffrey tangled up in Christmas lights and stabbed with a tree star. He asks for Jenna’s help with the police, he is certain that his crotchety neighbor is the killer but Jenna is not so sure that is the case. She thinks the killer made a mistake and that Jake was the intended victim. When Jake is poisoned at a holiday event she knows she is right. Luckily he survives but before the killer has another chance she is determined to catch them as fast as she can so everyone in Crystal Cove can enjoy the Ho-Ho-Holidays.
Again the well-developed characters shine within this story. The drama between Jenna’s sister Whitney and her husband is having a big effect on their daughter and Jenna tries her best to lend her support and smooth ruffled feathers but her main focus is solving the murder. The supporting cast plays a huge part in enabling her to do both. The dialogue is crisp and relationships stand out. We are getting to the point where a cast of characters list at the beginning of the book may be necessary as the cast grows, especially for new readers to keep everyone straight.
The author serves up a wide variety of suspects. As Jenna investigates we get to know several in depth. The clues are spread out for us to see but as the title says it is “between the lines” where things start to become clear. I enjoyed how officer Cinnamon tried to keep Jenna out of the investigation but even while on vacation her father was able to convince Cimmamon that just wasn’t going to happen.
The merchants of Crystal Cove are all decked out for the holidays. A wreath contest finds a unique wreath on every door. The events, the lights, all the decorations put this reader in a very merry holiday mood.
One of the things I really like about this series is the book title name dropping, sometimes with great descriptions of the books. Real cookbooks with great recipes and colorful photos. Cozies fitting the theme of the story, this time Christmas. It is a good idea to have a place to jot down these titles so you can check them out later and add them to your wish list. There are also recipes in the book to tempt you, so again a place to write them down is helpful.
A wonderful holiday read! Make yourself comfortable, with a cup of hot chocolate or cider, sit back, put on your sleuthing cap, and enjoy this fun holiday trip to Crystal Cove.

Author Daryl Wood Gerber has started off my Christmas season right with this murderous holiday themed tale.
I know when I have a new Cookbook Nook Mystery to set aside a day where I can read the book from beginning to end. Seriously, I want no interruptions. With WREATH BETWEEN THE LINES I have set a new record for finishing a book in one setting. I even went back and reread my favorite parts!
There was more than one story happening in WREATH BETWEEN THE LINES. The question is, are they all connected? (What? I’m not telling you!) There were so many plot twists, each one was like opening another gift. And trust me, that made for a lot of unwrapping. But the author unraveled the tangled ribbon of clues and deceptions and delivered a reveal that I never would have guessed!
I love every minute I get to spend with Jenna and friends. I always feel like I’ve come home. The way author Gerber writes this series, I can hear the character’s voices as I read and envision every detail. I truly I feel as though I have walked every square inch of the Cookbook Nook, and every mile of Crystal Cove. Writing like this is what made me the reader I am.
There is one more important ingredient of book. Recipes! Over a dozen wonderful, mouthwatering recipes!

I love a good Christmas cozy. Wreath Between the Lines is the seventh in the Cookbook Nook mystery series, but it can and does stand on its own. The quaint town of Crystal Cove is preparing for Christmas festivities, but this is Crystal Cove, so the festivities are interrupted when a body is found murdered with Christmas decorations. The suspects include Jenna’s brother-in-law and Jenna’s father’s friend. Jenna feels compelled to step in and solve the mystery to clear her loved one’s good names. This is a good addition to the series and you’ll love the recipes provided at the end of the book.

In this next book of the series Jenna is getting ready for her favorite time of year. Christmas is coming and she is having a fun time with decorating and looking forward to upcoming demonstrations that are being held at the Cookbook Nook. When her sister comes to town, for a singing competition her daughter is a part of, Jenna hopes they can get along. She is surprised when her sister tells her that she is worried that her husband is cheating. She hopes that Jenna will help her find out what he has been up to. Meanwhile her father's good friend calls her with some upsetting news. He has a friend visiting him and it looks like he may have been murdered. When she arrives to help she finds the man wrapped up in Christmas lights with a tree star sticking out of him. The man looked similar to Jake which has Jenna worried that the killer missed his real target. As Jenna begins to investigate she finds numerous reasons why someone might want to harm Jake but none for the dead man. At her cookie event Jake is poisoned and almost doesn't make it. Follow Jenna as she starts looking at suspects and the reasons they have for disliking Jake. Will she be able to whittle down the clues and pull out a real killer or continue to move around in a circle. Is this murder all over a stamp, a grumpy neighbor or a real estate issue, Jenna is determined to find out. This is such a wonderful series filled with a cast of characters that you'll love, a town you'll want to visit and a plot line that always delivers!

Okay so I am now officially in the holiday spirit after reading this wonderful new cozy by Gerber. Gearing up for the holidays everything is going great for the Cookbook Nook but not so much for some others. Jenna is worried for her sister's marriage and then a friend becomes the prime suspect in a strange murder. With her dad off on a trip she finds herself investigating just like he would to answer the questions she knows he will have. There are quite a few surprise answers alone the way that lead to the twist of an ending before the sweet wrap up. This has been a wonderful series since book one with this one fitting right in. Perfect for fans of culinary cozy mysteries. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

The town of Chrystal Cove, California is getting into the Christmas spirit, and Jenna Hart is busy with a bunch of Christmas themed events at the Cookbook Nook. Her life is more complicated by the fact that her sister and her family are visiting, and Jenna gets pulled into their drama. But things take a huge turn when her neighbor, Jake, comes over in a panic one night to report that a friend who had been staying with him has been murdered, trussed up with Christmas light and stabbed by a Christmas star. Who would want to kill a visitor to town? Or was Jake the intended target?
If you are looking for a cozy filled with Christmas spirit, you've come to the right place. This book is filled with Christmas. The mystery is a little weak since a couple of sub-plots crowd it out, but we do still get some twists before reaching a creative and fun climax. The series regulars are all here, and it is wonderful to catch up with them again. Once you've finished the book, you can keep the Christmas spirit with the many recipes for holiday goodies at the end.

Wreath Between the Lines by Daryl Wood Gerber takes us to Crystal Cove, California just two weeks before Christmas. Jenna Hart owns the Cookbook Nook, and her shop is filled with customers looking for gifts for the cook, baker, and reader in their life. The Crystal Cove Christmas Festival is taking place and since wreaths are the theme, every shop features a unique wreath. Jenna is surprised to see her sister, Whitney and her family. Jenna’s niece, Lacey and her group are participating in a cappella competition. In addition, Whitney is worried that her husband is cheating on her while Lacey wishes to avoid her critical mother. Late one evening, Jake Chapman knocks on the door needing assistance. Jake found his friend, Geoffrey strangled with Christmas lights and impaled with a tree topper. Jenna is worried it was a case of mistaken identity and the killer might try again. Jenna dons her sleuthing cap once again, makes a list of the suspects and sets out to wrap up the murder before Santa rides into town. Could it be the neighbor angry over Jake’s Christmas decorations or a philatelist after Jake’s rare and valuable Blue Mauritius? Someone has been naughty, and Jenna has no intention of letting them have a merry holiday.
Wreath Between the Lines is a joyful cozy mystery. I like the warm, friendly characters that have grown over the course of the series. Bailey, Katie, Rhett, Jake and Tigger return and are ready to celebrate Christmas. I am hoping that Whitney has seen the error of her ways and we see a change in her in future installments. Crystal Cove is a quaint town with lovely shops and activities year round. I like a cappella competition taking place in town with Lacey’s unusual group. The mystery was multi-faceted with multiple suspects, red herrings, and good clues. While pinpointing the grinch is a cinch, I wanted to keep reading Wreath Between the Lines to see how the various storylines would play out. While Wreath Between the Lines is the seventh book in A Cookbook Nook Mystery series, it can be read alone. Everything a reader needs to know about Jenna is included for new readers. I could have done without the frequent references to Jenna’s former job working at Taylor & Squibb (you know I am not a fan of repetition). I truly loved the Christmas spirit woven throughout the story. There is a delightful description of the wreath on the front door of the Cookbook Nook along with the Dickensian carolers who are strolling around the village. The narratives of the delectable cuisine will have your mouth watering. Wreath Between the Lines has a heartwarming ending. Wreath Between the Lines combines charming characters, a cozy town, Christmas festivities, romance and murder into one jolly cozy mystery.

It's Christmas time in Crystal Cove and the town is packed with tourists and family visiting for the holiday. Jenna has her hands full with this complex little mystery plus her sister's family is visiting, her best friend, Bailey, may or may not be pregnant and she has her own romance with Rhett to focus on, too. I guessed who was behind the murder before the reveal but I never guessed the reason behind it. A fun afternoon read that kept me entertained for several hours.

Wreath Between the Lines is an action packed mystery that will keep the reader guessing until the end.
Jenna is getting her shop ready for the holidays when an unexpected visit from her sister brings some troubling news. It seems her brother in law has a secret that could end his marriage.
If that isn't enough to rock her world, a murder will surely do the trick.
Jenna once again puts on her detective cap and sets off to find the answers.
This is a fantastic addition to the series and I loved every word. I've come to love Jenna and all the colorful personalities that make up her world.

“Wreath Between the Lines” is the 7th installment in author Daryl Wood Gerber’s fabulous “Cookbook Nook Mystery” series. Christmas, mystery, food, cookbooks, love, murder and serious intrigue and fun, what more could you ask for. I love going to visit these characters and this amazing town of Crystal Cove. And I think Christmas is the perfect time to enjoy their festivities and entertainment. Jenna Hart is a superb protagonist and her group of friends and family are the best. I would so love to be right there in the Cookbook Nook with them.
This installment of one of my favorite series is one of my favorites. The murder mystery kept me guessing. With a list of suspects, Jenna and her best friend Bailey try to figure out who killed the poor friend of Jake ( a self-made millionaire friend). I went from one suspect to the next along with them and really was not sure until the reveal. This author really knows how to build the suspense, weave a truly intriguing murder mystery and fill the story with fun, laughs, and in this one festivities that kept me wanting to be right there.
Jenna is so busy with the Christmas doings that a visit from her sister, brother-in-law and oldest niece are definitely not what she needs nor what she expected. It was nice to meet this part of her family. I had forgotten she had siblings. I love the interaction she had with her niece Lacy. It was nice to see Jenna and her sister’s relationship change and really develop into a wonderful one. With Jenna’s father out of town, it was nice she had other family than just her aunt there to keep her grounded and busy.

Operating from her store, the Cookbook Nook, Jenna Hart once again is called upon to solve a murder case. When her father's wealthy friend, Jake, finds his guest murdered, Jenna is afraid that Jake was the intended victim. Jenna goes to work to find the murderer. Was it Jake's Grinch like neighbor who was constantly at war with Jake over his lavish Christmas display, the woman who covets Jake's valuable stamp or maybe his estranged sister who has come to stay in the area after being missing from Jake's life for over 60 years. With the Christmas season at hand, Jenna has her hands and time full investigating the murder while running her store.
This series continues to deliver top notch mysteries with a well developed cast of characters. There is enough background provided that you can read each book as a stand alone but it really is best to read the series in order to see how everything has evolved. The murder plot delivers a lot of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages. Cozy and traditional mystery reading fans should all check this out.

For the months of November and December each year, I primarily read cozy/amateur sleuth mysteries and if they are holiday-themed mysteries all the better.
It took me a bit to get into this one, but once I did it moved along nicely. It did feel like the author felt the need to introduce each character to me in a very quick succession. That took some getting used to but it was fine once everyone was in place.
I would love to have a shop that sells cookbooks and mysteries and does as awesomely as this shop does. This town is pretty nice too.
A good mystery with plenty of suspects.
I liked it and will probably head back to Crystal Cove in the future.

Jenna Hart and company are back in the newest installment of the Cookbook Nook mysteries. When Jake Chapman's friend is killed, Jenna feels compelled to step in a help Cinnamon solve the case. Jenna's father is away on a trip and he asks her to help out in his stead.
I enjoyed this story very much and it was great to visit Crystal Cove to see old friends. Can't wait to see where this author takes us next.

WREATH BETWEEN THE LINES is the seventh book in the Cookbook Nook Mystery series by Daryl Wood Gerber. The front cover of the book draws the reader in with its coziness and I love the Christmas feeling it imbues. The author effectively captures and continues the Christmas-y feeling throughout the entire book despite some of the residents of Crystal Cove acting more Scrooge than Santa. Protagonist Jenna Hart co-owns the bookstore and bakery, Cookbook Nook, with her Aunt Vera. The Cookbook Nook and their California coastal town are gearing up for a wreath-themed festival. I loved all the descriptions of the creative wreaths each business designed to go with the theme of their shops. It adds to the festive feel of good cheer throughout the town. Jenna is also pulling out all stops to decorate her bookstore and make sure there are plenty of Christmas cookbooks for her customers. I have a love/hate relationship with all the cookie and cake cookbooks Jenna mentions and stocks for the holiday… they all sound amazing and I found that I ended up purchasing more cookbooks than I really need so that I can read and drool over all the recipes and photos of seasonal goodies.

One of the fun things I love when reading Ms. Gerber’s books, is the amazing amount of recipes she provides at the back of the book. WREATH BETWEEN THE LINES is no exception and you’ll be drooling as you read over the holiday recipes she’s created.

Good mystery! Enjoyed getting to know Jenna's sister and her family. Love how Lacy and Jenna bonded. I think it would be fun to see them solve a crime together in future books!

This was the Barnes & Noble Nook serial read for the month of December. I love a good cozy mystery. It is a bit odd to jump into a series at book seven, but the author did a good job recapping so I didn't feel lost. I enjoyed the characters and setting and would definitely read this series from the beginning.

This is a fun Christmas themed cozy mystery with likable and quirky characters in the small coastal town of Crystal Cove, California. Jenna Hart, her aunt, Vera, and the crew of the Cookbook Nook are gearing up for Christmas with lots of fun activities and even a cookie exchange. Things turn bad when a friend of her neighbor, Jake, is found dead at Jake's home. His body is found wrapped in Christmas lights and stabbed in the back by a star used on a Christmas tree. The first person blamed is Jake but he was at the store and video backs him up. A grumpy neighbor reported hearing Jenna's brother in law arguing with the dead guy. But he also had an alibi. Jake and Jenna's dad are close friends but he is out of the country so Jenna decides she needs to do some investigating in her dad's place. Maybe the killer was really after Jake and not his friend. She finds that there are several people who might want to get to Jake. A local businesswoman wants a rare stamp Jake has that is worth tons of money. A businessman from San Francisco wants Jake's house but it is not for sale. Jake's estranged sister is in town. Maybe she wants his estate. Amid the investigation, Jenna has her sister and her family in town for a music competition, her boyfriend Rhett returns to town and news abound with Jenna and her good friend Bailey. But also, danger is there as someone tries to complete their task of getting to Jake. The shop and connected cafe have fun events with yummy sounding foods and the cafe serves great food. The book includes some recipes in the back that would be interesting to try. I found the ending not totally surprising but it does have a strange twist that I did not see at all.

I love Daryl Wood Gerber’s books and the Cookbook Nook series has become one of my favorites, so I was thrilled to get the chance to read Wreath Between the Lines. The cover is beautiful, I really enjoy the cookbook shop setting, and Christmas themed cozies are always a hit with me. Jenna is a smart, capable sleuth and this puzzler of a story kept me guessing and in the holiday spirit all the way through.

What a wonderful cozy mystery! It was the first one I read in this series and I surely will read the others.
It can be read as a standalone as there are no problems in understanding the characters and their relationship.
The plot was both enjoyable and entertaining, the cast of characters is likeable and the setting is perfect.
I loved the Christmas atmosphere and everything in this book.
A great discovery, I look forward to reading the next instalment.

A little bit a love a bit a murder makes for an intriguing and exciting package. Jenna gets to put her sleuthing skills to work, by trying to solve the murder mystery that happened too close for comfort as far as Jenna and her family were concerned. With new relations on the horizon, all having a dramatic impact on their little cozy settings. She aimed at solving this puzzle quickly, so they all could get back to celebrating having a merry Christmas.

Everyone in Crystal Cove is getting into the festive holiday spirit, from the town vendors with their personalized wreaths as part of the town's themed contest, to the homes with their decorative outdoor displays. Everyone except Jake Chapman's next-door neighbor, Emmett Atwater, the definitive "Bah humbug." Not only is his home totally bare of any decorations, and not for religious reasons, but he also spends his time complaining loudly about Jake's decorations. So when a murder Jake may have been the original target. While Jenna's father is away on a river cruise vacation with Lola (her best friend's mother), it is up to her to sniff out the suspects and help Chief Pritchett (Cinnamon) solve the mystery...whether she wants her help or not. With an unexpected visit from her sister and family, as well as all the Christmas Festivities planned for the next two weeks, Jenna definitely has her hands full. Can she separate the suspects from the actual murderer in time, or will she once again be putting her own life at risk. This is a fun series full of interesting characters. I liked the opportunity to get to know Jenna's family better, including her niece, Lacy. Her aunt is always a hoot, especially when giving her tarot card readings. And of course, Jenna has a great relationship with her cat, Tigger! This story also delves more into her relationship with Rhett. The book contains lots of holiday ideas, as well as cookbook titles throughout the story for those interested in trying out new recipes. Finally, I love the holiday themed trinkets and decoration ideas scattered throughout. Twists and turns as well as entertainment make this a fun series to read. I forgot how much I enjoyed this series and I'm glad I found the time to catch up. This one was a perfect read for this hot July weather we are having. Who doesn't love a little Christmas in July? This book was entertaining as the readers are finally introduced to one of Jenna's siblings, her sister Whitney and Jenna's niece Lacy play a key role in this storyline. The characters are developing at a really good pace. I love how even though there have been marriages, engagements, and other relationships, all of the characters just fit the stories. They are growing together and it just feels like a natural progression. One of the other reasons I like this story is that Jenna is a busy body and really she doesn't try to hide it. She reminds me a bit of Jessica Fletcher in that she knows everyone so when a crime is committed it is personal to her to try and solve it.
The mystery was really good. I was surprised that I figured out the identity of the killer early on in the book. I was unsure of the motive but came to the same conclusion as Jenna when the killer was revealed. This didn't take away from my enjoyment for two reasons - one, I'm rarely right and two I love to watch how Jenna puts the clues together and comes to a conclusion. Jenna Hart loves the holidays. The Cookbook Nook is decorated and she's ready for the festivities. She's surprised when her sister makes an unexpected visit, but this gives her a chance to bond with her niece, Lacy. Unfortunately not everyone is in the holiday spirit. Geoffrey is visiting his friend Jake when he's bludgeoned to death. Did the killer get it right or did he want to kill Jake? Jenna has to find the truth. She's a caring woman who uses her keen mind to track down a killer. I was pleased at how perceptive Lacy was and how she helped her Aunt. Jenna's romance with Rhett is so special. He's a keeper. I loved that he's so supportive. Crystal Cove provides the perfect backdrop. The area and the people who reside here add warmth to the story. The cozy mystery has so many suspects that I wasn't sure who committed the murder. Daryl Wood Gerber has outdone herself. I loved Wreath Between The Lines. I cared about the characters. I loved the dialogue. It made me feel as if I was part of this town. I didn't know until the very end who did the deed. I loved how the author combined multiple story lines to produce an excellent addition to this series.

I just love Jenna and the gang. Jenna's sister comes for a visit with her husband and daughter. While she is spending time with her niece, Jenna's family friend, Jake, comes to get her because his friend has been murdered. Jenna is pretty sure that the intended victim was really Jake and she knows that she has to figure out who the killer is before they strike again. When the killer tries to scare Jenna off of the investigation, she knows she is out of time.
