Somnia is evolving, and Murmur is confronted with enemies both old and new. She must lead her guild, Fable, through a dungeon filled with riddles and puzzles to claim the first of twelve keys required to achieve victory. But things are not as they seem: glitches abound, enemies rally against Fable, and unexpected threats move in the shadows.

As the system becomes increasingly complex, Laria and Shayla battle through mismatched coding, and Storm Corp discovers they’ve left some anomalies in the game out of their reports. Anomalies like Wren. With the report deadline looming, and errors riddling the system, Laria’s house of cards is about to come crashing down.

KT Hanna has a love for words so extreme, a single word can spark entire worlds.

Born in Australia, she met her husband in a computer game, moved to the U.S.A. and went into culture shock. Bonus? Not as many creatures specifically out to kill you.

When she’s not writing, she freelance edits for Chimera Editing, and chases her daughter, husband, corgi, and cat. No, she doesn’t sleep. She is entirely powered by the number 2, caffeine, and beef jerky.

Note: Still searching for her Tardis

Murmur/Wren has a WOLF named Snowy. This makes me so happy and jealous all at the same time. 🥺

Loved

The more I read the more I love this genre. This author has given me so much that it makes me want to play some MMORPG as well as write my own Litrpg/ gamelit fanfiction of my own. I am definitely in with this author and want to read anything she writes in the future.

Multi-dimensional conflict detracts from story

I fully understand what the author is trying to do and I commend her for it, but execution is a bit lacking.

There seems to be more time spent in the in-between and internal monologues than on what's taking place, and with the main character's understandable angst at her situation, it adds a level of anxiety that detracts from the original premise of the story.

The introduction of both a "virtual villain" as well as another set of the contenders (which was ok until the end of the book) creates a situation where the reader doesn't get any relief, especially since book 3 doesn't conclude any storyline.

With that being said though, I will be picking up the next in the series, as anytime an author is able to pull these kind of reactions from me, they deserve to be read.

I find I am getting more invested in the series as things go along. I find myself invested in the 3 AI's, their interaction with each other in this love/hate we have a common problem/enemy relationship. I like Murmur's pet and the relationship they are developing (although I dislike the name of her pet, it was a missed opportunity in my opinion). I am wondering WTH I am seeing with Murmur and Sinister, are those best friends or is something developing. The introduction of corruption in the game world and how it impacts things is a fantastic plot point that made me often wonder if Murmur had what it takes to survive. She no longer seems so OP.

The only knit-picky thing I don't like as much is the cut-scenes over to Jirald. Much of it seems to be a rework/revisit of the same rant, working to control his rage again, and fixating on Mur. Just recently have I seen something different come out of those cut-scenes with character development or plotline. I know he is a main antagonist, it's just the least favorite part of the series so far.

However, still a very good book and the series stays as strong or gets even better as we move along to a new book. Absolutely recommend picking up the series. I've already started book four and have book five on the way.

So this was a bit of a strange book.

Very enjoyable to be sure but it didn't really do much.

A little talk of in game skills but that wasn't the main focus. A little talk about events in the real world that wasn't the main focus. A little talk about what the AIs are doing but that's not the main focus. A little talk about an NPC that seems to have exceeded its parameters and is up do evil shenanigans in game and this was an important plot point but it didn't feel like it was given enough time.

The most awkward thing for me was the discussion on the nature of Murmur's growing telepathic skills and the morality of inflicting your will on somebody else. In the real world, sure, very bad thing but in a game where it's just a mechanic to interact with 1s and 0s, it seems less a moral quandary and more an attempt to illustrate that the baddy is the baddy.

Despite feeling that there was too much of everything or, maybe, not enough of everything, it was still an enjoyable read. All the mains are back. Everything that's been shown to be important in previous books is reviewed and expanded on. It's a solid read with good pacing, great descriptions and much fun.

The story is going great! My only note is I don't like the portrayal of the computer and AI systems. As much processing power and as powerful as the systems must be to run the AIs they AI interactions seem really slow. There have been a few other stories that have computer system interactions and account for the fact the processing speed is much much faster than human thoughts not discounting multi tasking and being able to just use a small section of processing power to interact with a slow thinking human. So it bugs me to read about the servers beeping and whirring fans when something "heavy" is processed in total comparison to everything that has to be running the game environment. It's a small little quirk but feels like the server and IT research on this story was a little hamfisted and not properly portrayed to the reality given.
Outside of that things are going great and it's an enjoyable read!

I'm writing this before I'm finished with the book. Although the book is good and I've rated it 4 stars I'm getting close to it being a DNF. The author has taken the main character from a little whining but still likeable to getting pissed off every time someone breaths and you'd just as well see her character get killed off so you can actually enjoy the book. I'm really hoping this path changes or mellows soon. I'm very much enjoying the story line, the adventure and the plight set before the group but man 2 pages of everybody apologizing to each other for the same crap over and over is getting tiresome.

Fun

The third book and the MC hasn’t grown but has gotten more powerful. By the end I was feeling more for Jirald than Murmur. New complexities were introduced without previous ones being resolved. In all this is more a serial than a novel. The overall story is still good and the world building is still on par, but I’m starting to find the characters more than a little one dimensional.

Makes me want to renew my WoW subscription!

I absolutely love this series. I was sucked in from the first page. I have found that each of the books I’ve read in this series are well written and very action packed. I love the game elements interspersed throughout.

If you are looking for a solid series that continues to evolve and grow this is definitely a great choice!

Enjoyable continuation of the series

The tension is ramping in the world as a lot of different threads are starting to pull apart. We'll worth a read if you've enjoyed the others, or just like litrpg in general.

Well 3 down

I don't know but I feel I should apologize. I have been growing bored with Murmur, I find myself giving a lot more of my interest to Rash. I like the Felis face and I like what I have heard of Rash. It used to be that murmur and rash were at like 50% each now it is more like 35% 65%. Here's hoping that things change with Murmur and she can grow up. Of course half of my frustration with her comes from my play style which is the complete opposite of hers and she would most likely find me equally annoying.

Ohhhh wow after hating, all the teen-angst in book 2 Anomaly... I'm back 3 years later writing a review for Fragments my son wanted it and he broke my resolve. And yeah there's still some angsty bits but mostly they're gone and KT Hanna has settled into good story telling.

I'm getting into the series but still not liking the lead. The ideas and the overarching plot are intriguing especially the military.

Enjoyed the book it picks up where the previous left off. It's interesting to see how the main character is doing throughout the story
