I’ve read all 4 of the Mrs. Entwhistle books. I’m glad I started with books 2 and 3 because if I had started with book 1 I may not have read the others. I would recommend others do the same. All of the books are fun and fairly quick to read. Mrs. Entwhistle is a 78/79 year old lady who is still full of spunk and spirit. She prefers to be called Mrs. Entwhistle, thank you. First names are for good friends only. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, duty and honor, and expects others to have the same. She was the textbook wife, mother, Sunday School teacher, homemaker and then widow. When she learns that her husband’s pension fund has gone bankrupt, she refuses to ask her children for help, but gets a job writing for the local newspaper: the advice column, society stuff, … She finds she has a real knack for the job… but of course, against the will of the editor (the only other person who works for the paper), she expands the range of things she investigates. …. She winds up in a number of adventures and brings her best friend since childhood, Maxine, along on many of them. Book 3 is especially interesting as the two women decide to drive highway 66 across country to California. --- I think Mrs. Entwhistle’s adventures would be a fun read for anyone, but those of us in the senior citizen group will especially enjoy this spunky lady.

Mrs. Entwhistle rules!

Back to the cozy mysteries I go after a stop for a good laugh. Mrs. Entwhistle (who will be Mrs. E for the rest) books are always a good calm read a cross between Jessica F. and Aunt B. She rules her small town and everyone in it. Proving just because Your old Your not dead. Its small towns at their best and worst but always a fun trip. A good day for a read that is quiet but still moves , very readable lots of twist and turns. Theme here is gray besides woman rule. Enjoy the book and Have a good time doing it. Here's to the gray haired woman who don't need Tom Brady for a good time. Have fun hope the weather treats You good over and out baffle

Reading the Mrs. Entwhistle novels is much like running into old friends; you immediately feel comfortable with them, and want to know more about what they've been up to. Perhaps it's having been raised in a smaller Southern city that makes me feel this way, but the characters seem like some of the senior generation with whom I've played duplicate bridge and shared meals. Engaging and delightful reading, no matter what one's generation! This one tossed in a little mystery - something I'd hoped would happen - more in the "polite mystery" vein, without a lot of blood and guts and gore and profanity. What I term "polite crimes."

Loved this book! Mrs Entwistle and Maxine get in some unexpected fixes that are serious and funny. The books characters have developed as to make one feel they are people we in the South would know and understand the situations they would get into. I had been searching for a book series to follow up with my beloved Miss Julia! This series was just the fit! I hope there is another book in making now!

Earned all 5 stars

This book popped up on my suggested reading list and I’m so happy it did. I’m new to the author but I hope she wrote more as I’m hooked. This book was so delightfully written with great characters and intriguing plot. Such an enjoyable read. I could see it as a movie or series. Absolute enjoyment!

This is a page-turner,,

This is great story and makes me laugh! I can’t wait to read the next adventure!
The characters are people I’d like to know and it’s nice to read about a senior citizen’s adventures and talents that are a little dangerous but wise and funny at the same time!

Very nice story.

I thought this was a very good book. I thought it showed that older people were still capable of doing great things. I liked the humor in it. I think most people would enjoy this book because it was a good story and good language 😀.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Mrs. Entwhistle is a character to be in awe of, laugh at, and genuinely enjoy spending time with as she fully embraces life. After reading her stories I feel refreshed because they are so uplifting; a nice break in my time.

These are ok and I say these because it's really a collection of vignettes and not a novel

A nice light read when you don’t want to think too hard. Mrs. Entwhistle is a fixture in her small town community who unexpectedly becomes a report at the age of 78. She stumbles across a case of embezzling and money laundering in her new role in life.

I'm an old man (81) and Mrs Entwhistle is an old lady. She is so skillfully portrayed she seems like a familiar friend. If you're an Old Guy, it's required reading.

Mrs.E is someone everyone should get to know. Personality plus warm friend to all. The town and all the characters were wonderfully crafted in this book.

Listened on Audible (VV) while reading on KU.

I’m not sure how I feel about Virtual Voice narration. In this series, it’s just a notch above text-to-speech on Kindle.

Cora Entwhistle didn't disappoint in her second outing. This time around, it was just as enjoyable and a hoot to read as the first one. I loved Jimmy Jack and Dexter. Maxine was a great BFF as always.
