Be Yours Trilogy #1

Be Your Downfall

Rate this book
One year ago at my band’s first performance, I saw her in the audience. I never knew her name, but I dreamed about her for weeks after. It just wasn’t to be. Then.

Miles away from where we began, I answer her ad for a roommate in the sleepy lake town of Independence Point, WI. Her name is Jessalie Reynolds, and I get the chance I missed out on before.
Except, Jessalie is complicated. Troubled. She suffered a traumatic loss she’s been punishing herself with ever since, and I’m not sure I can compete with the darkness of her past. Especially when I come with darkness of my own.

I’m Seth Archer. Musician. Lyricist. And the very things that caused her first love to stare down the barrel of a gun and take his own life, are the very things I’m plagued with now. Bipolar 1. PTSD. Self-harm. I can control it only so much, but I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure I won’t be her downfall.

**Update** ALL "Curse" books will be on audio; Invisible and Inevitable are already available, Insatiable is in production and should be available by year's end, and Invincible will be available a couple of months after release. **

Sariah Skye physically resides with her family in southern Minnesota but mentally everyone is pretty sure she’s from Uranus. She’s a typical quirky Aquarian that swears too much, loves wine, shiny objects, and hates sarcasm and never, ever uses it.
She also loves Star Trek, Doctor Who, ‘90s reruns, and Imagine Dragons (probably a little too much).
In addition to all this oddity she’s an unprofessional obsessive fangirl, loves reading, hates anything domestic, and loves her pretty pink straitjacket. Oh, and she loves to chat with her unwilling kidnappees—err, “fans”, online at various places, like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram .Or drop her an email at sariahskyeauthor@gmail.com or private message her on Facebook.
She also has a private group called the Shenanigan Squad for anyone who might possibly want to follow her works, progress, or just share a silly meme war (though she really doesn’t understand why anyone is there, she loves them all nevertheless). If you want to join, you’re more than welcome:

You can also sign up for her newsletter, and maybe she’ll actually remember to send one out one of these days: http://eepurl.com/cqSJWD

Good start

This was a really good start to this trilogy....I think these two have a very difficult road to travel with lots of ups and downs. I guess we'll find out more in book two. Tate is kind of twisted to me. I mean what were the odds that jesselie would find two men whom were bipolar??

Couldn’t put it down!!!!!

I’m a huge fan of this author under her other pen name Sariah Skye and I was excited to read this contemporary romance from her. It’s such a great story of hope and love for those who struggle with mental health problems and I couldn’t put it down. I loved that the story is told from Jessalie and Seth’s POV because it just adds so much depth to the tale and being inside both their heads was so different and fascinating. I found Seth’s telling to be realistic and both heartbreaking and hopeful; while Jessalie comes from a different background her story is just as complex and well written. There are some triggers in this story and the author has noted those at the beginning but if those aren’t an issue for you as a reader then I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. 5 stars 😁

Be your downfall

Coming from a family with mental illness, this book has touched some aspects that I had experienced. I can relate and feel the pain Seth was going through. The story had me enthralled from beginning to end as well as feeling all the love, frustration and desperation of the characters. There wasn't a moment I was emotionally invested. I love reading books like Be Your Downfall, where you can feel the author's passion for the story they are writing.

Love this

I have not seen many storylines with mental illness. Showing the ups and downs. Showing that things can be manageable with proper treatment. Showing that you can have a life worth living. I don’t give many books five stars but feel like those stars were earned with this one. Looking forward to following their story.

None of your scars can make me love you less…

I am positively shocked by this book. Seth and Jessie's story has so much depth and brings light to an illness that is still very misunderstood. I am so happy that Sariah Skye isn't afraid to bring those subject forward it makes, in my opinion, her she's relationship more relatable and perfect in their imperfection.

Worth More Than Five Measly Stars!!

This book omg this book was freaking amazing!
I absolutely loved the way it sucked me in before I had even finished the first paragraph and it wouldn’t release me until I had gotten to the end of the story.
The MCs were all the amazing blend of strong but very vulnerable, they both struggled with their demons but they wouldn’t let their demons win they kept fighting them even when they both wanted to stop fighting.
This book hit manic bipolar disorder and the constant struggles one has when they are battling it, the constant highs and constant lows.
Seth and Jessalie’s story was raw, a little dark, brutal but oh so beautiful, so beautiful that I can not wait until the next book of their story because I want to know what else happens them!
Lizzie Fox aka Sariah Skye created an amazing masterpiece that I absolutely fell in love with.
So yes I most definitely do recommend this book to anyone who’s searching for a beautiful story to get lost within.
But fair warning there are some scenes that aren’t for the faint of heart.

What an utterly spectacular start to this trilogy. I'm still reeling from the emotions throughout this story. Jessie and Seth are two of the strongest most detailed characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Their story is heartbreaking but also has so much hope and love especially with the things they each have to deal with on a daily basis. Extreme loss, feelings of inadequacy and mental illness and how each character, the MCs and the support characters, deal with all the emotions and the ups and downs of mania. So many of the different aspects of this story are relatable to so many people and it showed a lot of emotions and ways that people cope associated with mental illness. This book is so well written it is like you are there living right beside them. I absolutely can not say enough about this book and how it makes you feel everything. I am still reeling. I can not wait to read more of Jessie and Seth's story, I need to see where this story is going to go. This book is a absolute MUST READ in my book!

I really enjoyed reading this book. Please be aware of the fact that this novel deals with mental illness and all of the roads that have to be traveled as a couple learns to trust and love each other when having to deal with said issues.

I felt I could really relate to Jess the most, as she cares for and remembers how to be present for Seth, given the fact he's bi-polar. The storyline is realistic and that fact made this book more enjoyable to me, personally. I would recommend this book for other readers that might consider themselves closely tied to the experiences and influence of mental illness, and I found it refreshing to experience this along with the main characters in the book.

This story was absolutely gripping, I managed to finish it in very short time. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Lots of emotion! This book has a lot of feels, a lot of ups and downs. The ups are so touching, and the downs are heartwrenching. But it is definitely worth it! The reader really feels what the character's are going through. Fox (aka Skye) does an exemplary job of bringing the pain associated with mental illness alive for both the sufferer and those who care for the sufferer. It's not a topic avidly discussed, but it is one that should not be shied away from. I think this story does a wonderful job of shedding light where others might gloss over. The characters are realistic; neither MC is perfect. Aside from the obvious, they both have insecurities and pasts, and it affects their actions, feelings, thoughts, and more. They really come alive and develop progressively throughout the story. Very well done. I'm certainly looking forward to the next book.

Be Your Downfall will be my downfall, literally. This book hits me right in the feels. I bleed for Seth Archer. I love him. I adore him. I'm in love with him. Did I say that I love him already?

This is my first time reading from this author and what I can say is that I am in love with it. It told the story of Seth Archer, a musician battling mental illness and Jessie, a divorcee who's in the process of moving on from her husband's memories. What I love about this book is that how the author touches the topic of mental illness, not only how the person suffering from it copes but also the major role of their support person. I cannot wait for the next book. Definitely a must read!

I received an ARC and I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Be Your Downfall was raw, emotional and had me hooked from the first page. Jessie and Seth both have troubled pasts but they are determined not to lead them into a troubled future. This doesn't mean they don't face challenges - because oh they do! Jessie and Seth grow as characters throughout the book and I can't wait to see how they develop in the second book. The other characters are also so much fun, especially Shane! The book focuses on tough topics such as mental illnesses including bipolar disorder, self-harm, suicide and abuse, but it does it is a way that's real and vulnerable. Definitely worth the read.

Amazing!! This book was too good for words. I was completely drawn into Jessie and Seth's story. There is so much emotion. I was on a roller coaster and couldn't stop reading. Both Jessie and Seth are fighting their own demons. The question is will they be able to fight them together. Each of the characters are extremely well written. There is a lot of depth to the story. I am anxiously waiting for more of their story.

This book is very serious and deals with a lot of difficulty issues, that said it's a really good love story about taking chances, healing, and finding something great in the process. It's a very real book and I loved every minute. If you can handle the possible trigger themes, I highly recommend it to anyone willing to take a chance to find something great!
