I tuned into a local podcast, Skin in the Game, to hear Brandon Steiner talk about selling items from Highmark Stadium, the former home of the Buffalo Bills. How do you go about selling items from a stadium as memorabilia, including its urinal troughs? It was an interesting interview. Steiner understands people, especially the unique bond that Western New Yorkers have with their Buffalo Bills. It’s not like other places and he got that. But what stuck with me the most, other than where someone would display a urinal trough, was a book he wrote, Living on Purpose. He spoke about the book and his genuine caring for others came through loud and clear.

Sure, I could have just bought a copy on Amazon, but I felt a connection. I messaged him, asking how I would go about getting an inscribed copy. This guy is kind of a “Big Deal,” so you can imagine my surprise when two days later an inscribed copy of Living on Purpose showed up at my front door.

On the podcast, Steiner indicated the target audience for the Living on Purpose was those in their forties. I’ll tell you this, it’s a book for everyone. I’m retired and happy, but as I read Steiner’s words, I began taking notes.

Living on Purpose describes the importance of having as many reasons as possible for doing something. Although Steiner has been uber successful in developing his business, accumulating wealth, and making a name for himself in the sports collectibles industry, he’s critical of his personal journey and shares the course corrections he’s made in his own life. Now he aims to do at least two things for others each day to help them achieve their goals. Steiner understands our legacy is greatly influenced by impacting others in a positive way.

Living on Purpose is packed with advice on cultivating relationships, prioritizing what’s most important, and putting a focus on health and wellness. It bursts with memorable stories that give light to the complexity of everyday life. I won’t ruin it for others, but I loved the story on page 18 about the harried businesswoman and her cookies. Talk about adjusting your perspective — wow!

This is a five-star read!

Fantastic book! Brandon’s story is one that can resonate with just about anyone, no matter what phase of life you are currently in. Faith, Fortune, and Fitness. Most if not all of us tend to struggle in one, if not all of these key aspects of life. Brandon lends personal advice from each of these areas that can change your life. Discovering your life’s “purpose” or “why” and using that to set your soul on fire.

Pretty good. I like the idea, “do as much as you can, for as many people as you can, and don’t expect anything in return.” I also like how he connects his physical health to his ability to help others. Lots of “meh” stuff, but honestly some great tidbits in there.

A book that was “On Time” for me.

As a budding entrepreneur, a relied upon mentor and single mother of many children, this book resonated with me. Brandon has a way to share his ideas of “living on purpose” with including the “how” in a narrative format that makes you feel like you are sitting on the porch with him just talking like friends. His wisdom in this book reminded me to slow down and appreciate what I have at the same time that I am giving 10x my effort to see my business succeed. Solid read. On time for me. Definitely a book I will pass on to others who need to see how they can be engaged with life and family as they succeed.
