Complete novel that can stand alone. Ex-SEAL and US Coast Guard aviation rescue swimmer Marcus Holt has never lost a victim to the frigid waters of Alaska until a rescue spirals out of control, and he loses a man he loved like a father. When the dead man’s sexy daughter—a former assistant district attorney from New York—blows into Sitka asking questions, Marcus admits she may just have a case to sue him. Too many things went wrong out there. And he can’t remember a thing. Nicole Manning isn’t staying in Alaska long. She’s determined to find her estranged father’s secret accounts and correct the crimes he committed before he died. After that it’s back to New York to pick up her broken pieces. But she isn’t prepared for the rough-and-tough USCG swimmer who heads her off at every turn and makes her rethink…everything. Marcus stubbornly demands to take the blame for her dad’s death in order to protect the air crew. His strength and big heart tempt her to deviate from her get-out-of-Sitka-fast plans. Because Marcus himself is a man in need of a rescue, and Nicole is impossibly tempted to jump in feet first.

Survivor Lost by Kimberley Troutte is the first book in what I hope will be a long series based on the USCG team stationed in Sitka, AK.
Ms. Troutte has written a wonderfully complex romance with a few spine tingling moments that had me gripping the ereader. Nicole Manning and Marcus Holt are both broken individuals who have managed to survive but keep their secrets closely guarded. Nicole has come to Sitka to find answers about her father who has been missing for several years. Marcus had a terrible childhood and has the scars to prove it both physically and mentally. Together they face both a white hot attraction and a medical crisis before they find the answers they have both been looking for. The supporting characters, Cammie, Dane, Justin and Ross were all likable and admirable. I would love to visit Sitka and sit in Cammie's bar and get to know all of them. I am hoping that Ms. Troutte is planning on writing their stories next.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
I liked this one, liked seeing how Nicole was a fish out of water in Alaska and how things weren't as they seemed with her father. The chemistry between her and Marcus was off the charts, which made for some fun times for them. Things became really interesting towards the end when it seemed Marcus almost lost it all, making him needing to start from scratch with Nicole. I liked how both of them dealt with things, showed they really wanted to be together.

Survivor Lost by Kimberley Troutte is one heck of a wild ride from start to finish. I've read most of her SEAL Extreme Team books and I have to tell you that this book is even better. Well worth all five stars and many more if I could give them. Having grown up in a seaside town that had Coast Guard Rescue station the author put you right back in their shoes.
Nicole is a high powered lawyer with the NYC District attorney's office who is trying to pick up the pieces of her life from the betrayal and scandal by her boyfriend and father. When she received a call from a bank in Sitka Alaska telling her that her father Carl had passed away from a heart attack and drowning. Oh and by the way did you know he had a extremely large bank account here? Once in Sitka she meets the wonderful people of the town plus Marcus the Coast Guard rescue swimmer who tried to rescue Carl. But she feels just as much guilt as Marcus for Carl's death because her dad been accused of running a ponzi scheme in NY. Will she figure out why he has so much money and can she ease the minds of the Coast Guard crew who tried hard to rescue him?
Marcus was a former SEAL before he decided to become a Coast Guard rescue swimmer one of the most dangerous jobs in Alaska. When his crew is called to rescue Carl in a storm but he isn't successful when the boat shifts and both Carl and Marcus lose their grip on the line. Marcus is left with a concussion and Carl drowns. He decides to take the blame for the death but his friends don't agree. When he meets Nicole he tries to tell her what happened but the concussion becomes a brain bleed and he's rushed to surgery. Nicole has fallen for him but they will have a long road while he recovers and she finds out that perhaps her father had a secret.
Survivor Lost is the first book in the Alaskan Guardsmen series, and what a start it was! This book grabbed me from the opening chapter and kept me hooked until the very end.
I loved Marcus and Nicole together. They both searching for the truth. For Marcus, that would be what happened the day the rescue of his friend, who was Nicole's father, went wrong. After banging his head on the deck of the boat, he doesn't remember. Nicole wants to find out not only what happened during her father's attempted rescue, but also if her father was really guilty of the pyramid scheme he had been accused of before disappearing to Alaska. The chemistry between the pair is great.
I also enjoyed the friendship the US Coast Guard Air Station Crew shared with one another. None of Marcus's friends would let him take the blame for what happened during the rescue, even though he kept trying to. They also tried to protect him from Nicole, when they initially thought she was out to pin the blame on him for what happened. I'm looking forward to reading about the other members of Marcus's Coast Guard Team.
If you enjoy your romances mixed with a bit of suspense and mystery, you won't want to miss Survivor Lost. It's definitely a must-read.
**An advanced copy was provided. I voluntarily left my opinion**
Survivor Lost (Alaskan Guardsmen Book 1) by Kimberley Troutte is an exciting rescue story as well as a second chance romance that takes place in the harsh Alaskan environment. It is just not the first rescue attempt that comes to be or is most needed.
Action, romance, and mystery with two determined and stubborn characters make this a thrilling read from the very beginning when the call come in for the ill-fated mission. Nicole Manning and Marcus Holt must face their own demons to be able to turn their attraction into something more lasting.
This is an entertaining well-written story that I recommend to all fans of action romances. It is a great beginning to a thrilling series. Look forward to reading more of these brave US Coast Guard heroes. I purchased an anthology that contained this story. I am not sure if the anthology is still available but the novel is available on its own.
4.5 Stars The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Survivor Lost is the first book in Kimberley Troutte’s new series Alaskan Guardsman. This book started off with such intensity. I was pulled in from the start and couldn’t put it down. I loved both characters, Marcus Holt and Nicole Manning. Both of them were dealing with issues from their past. It was heart wrenching as Marcus discovered what truly happened in the accident that lost the man, he considered his father while Nicole discovered that her father wasn’t the man, she believed him to be. Add in a health scare and Survivor Lost is a must read.
I love that this series pays homage to our US. Coast Guard, a division of our armed services, that is rarely written about. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I received an advance copy of Survivor Lost which I chose to voluntarily read and review. This is my honest opinion.
Marcus is an Ex-SEAL and is now a US Coast Guard swimmer. When someone who he treats like a dad needs rescuing, Marcus jumps in head first to save him while the clock is ticking. Things don't go as planned and Marcus doesn't remember the rescue attempt. Nicole, the man's daughter comes into town to figure out a few things. Marcus accidentally runs into her (not realizing who she is) and sparks fly. When he finds out who she is, Marcus feels guilty and wants to accept full responsibility for what happened only, Nicole doesn't blame him nor does she think he's the only one at fault. Sparks are flying but can these two get onto the same page? Will Nicole had back to NY once she finds what she came looking for? A great start to this new series! Can't wait to read the others!
I really loved this one! I adored Nicole and Marcus, and they have a connection from the beginning. While there is an instant attract, they have a really well-developed journey and go through a lot. I found that I particularly liked the last 30% or so of the book. There is lots of action, danger, and intrigue to keep things interesting. I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't put this book down. Marcus is really the perfect hero. I can't wait for more from this author!

This book was great. It started off with great action that really pulled me into the book. I didn’t want to put it down. Every chapter left me wanting to read just one more, just one more. Loved the characters and their chemistry. It was hot and steamy too. I can’t wait to read the next books to come. Definitely would recommend this read.
4.5 stars. I loved it. Likable MCs, well paced storyline with a little bit of mystery and surprise plot twist. This one is a unique combination of insta-love and slow burn. Can’t wait to read about the rest of the crew.
Great book was on edge till I finished it. I love reading this author's books. I didn't realize what's involve in Coast Guard rescue and how dangerous it could be at times in real life. This book has opened my eyes to what can go wrong on a rescue.
I enjoyed this brief space in time with the characters, and then gripped my seat as the chopper lifted off and into the storm. Your selections are vivid, and I look forward to more!
