October 2019 reread: I reread this by accident sort of. I wanted to reread Three Irish Brothers for a specific mechanic and essentially got confused (because I read a lot and my memory is shit, it's a readability gift). But the upside is both books are so short and so good it is no imposition to reread them both. I still love the characters especially X, I've always had a thing for very broken and scared men. The plot is one of coming into one's own and realising that wants can be achieved. For all it's male characters it is a very female character. Waylyn has total control in the relationship and the ability to bring her men to their knees. That is something I enjoy reading.
“I’m just sayin’ ... Go, fuck, be merry.” - Charli King
We meet 18-year-old Waylyn in the back of a florist truck running from her wedding. She has one man in mind who can keep her safe, Magnar King. After meeting gang boss King she spends time with him and his right-hand man and giant teddy bear Jace and his enforcer and cold hard human X. King is the leader of the Irish Kings one of the feared Irish gangs, as is to be expected given the genre he has morals and will do anything for those who give him their loyalty. As time goes on the three men give her adorable nicknames, they are quite well thought out and give some insight into the characters. It might be worth noting that Waylyn is much younger than her men. She is the same age as Kings daughter Charli. Charli is an appealing secondary character she is smart sassy and loving. One of the brilliant quotes in the book is "She’s a fiery, sexy redhead who kicks ass. When I grow up, I want to be like Charli King." and don't we all.
I love the men so much. Their differences, their loyalty, the way they treat a young woman who as clearly lived beyond her years. Though X was easily my favourite. X is an ideal enforcer, scarred, broken and carrying too much. X reminds me of Zsadist from the BDB series (relevant book Lover Awakened) same scars, same role, same nature. Very much the same appeal. From the time he appeared I was squealing, Z is one of my fave book characters any character like that draws my love immediately. King and his brothers are bikies between that and Xs whole deal I was more than content.
For those who read Sienna Blake's other works there are links to Professor's Kiss and Dark Romeo, but it is independent of book one in this series. Possibly the best part about Sienna Blake's Quick and Dirty series is the way they are written. Ms Blake writes character and plot-driven stories with some brilliant fun. The smexy times aren't the focus. The stories are short enough to read quickly if you're between book but well enough that you are involved and want the character happiness and a good resolution. It is a satisfying story with appealing characters people get their comeuppance.
I can’t give her everything she needs. I can’t promise her a lifetime. That’s why most of the men share. At least then, she can have enough pieces between them to make a whole relationship. - Magnar King
