The Kurtherian Gambit #2

Queen Bitch: Das königliche Biest

Rate this book

This is the second book about the young lady Vampire who has been created in order to bring some order among the weres and vamps, who seem to be getting out of control. She takes that task to heart and with the help of an alien computer who has incorporated itself into her brain and nervous system, an American werewolf, a young Romanian lady, and a secret Black Ops team, she starts kicking some bad dudes asses😈! Ooo, and while resting from all the ass kicking and between spending a ton of money, her and her new buddies get to do some very creative cursing 😈😈😈😀...

These books should be taken for what they are - some entertainment and some violence, all for the sake of an light, fun read. I would not even go into it with any other expectations. The books are short and very fast read, all structured as a TV series episodes. I hope you check them out for what they offer 😀😀😀!

Now I wish you all Happy Reading and many more wonderful books to come!

Great

Great read, plenty of action, characters are really coming together and I love them. The funniest sayings come out of Bethanyanns character. Fun, action packed, violence filled book.

Damn this mainstream series is addicting! I have too many books that I have to read, or I would be sitting here reading one after another of this series. The books are quick, fast-paced excitement. And the fact you can get them through Kindle Unlimited, makes it even better. If you are a paranormal fan, especially of Vamps and Weres, try this series. There is also some sci-fi elements, which I love, but you don't have to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy these early books at least. Two books and I am hooked. Jane this is all your fault you realize! :)

When I come back to this series, when I have more reading time, I probably won't be reviewing all of these books. I think these are the kind of books that you just have to read, they are hard to truly explain. My 72 year-old father is still a big reader, and we talk about books a lot. I have even gotten him to read lesfic which I am proud of:) I told him the premise of this series, and he said "that sounds really weird". There is too much going on in these, you just need to read one to see if it grabs you. They really grabbed me. And it is hard to pick up my next ARC, when I really just want to read book 3, instead.

Yes! It does get better!

I guess I'm buying the coffee for the next God knows how many months. Honestly I can't get enough of this series. It just keeps getting better.

Be aware that Bethany Anne has a wicked 'potty' mouth. She actually works hard to insult everyone and give her her due she takes as well as she gives. Some are pretty adventurous. I grew up in London so there isn't much I haven't heard but all I'll say is WOW!

Bethany Anne has started to compile her team and they have nicknamed themselves The Queen Bitch or TQB. She is learning all the time and she feels safe with her team. She is also reaching out to the weres to increase her contacts. Her team are very protective off her as she is with them.

She just bought a Black Hawk helicopter. And a house. All for cash. She has some serious money and she is using it to set a up a fully independent team.

This series is definitely one of the best I've come across regarding the supernatural. This author has taken it to a whole new level. Buffy has no chance here. The books aren't too long either. I've got through two in two evenings. But be aware you will lose time because you get so involved you even forget to breathe.

Excellent series. But be warned. They are VERY addictive. Enjoy!

Didn't really like this one. Everyone talked about how beautiful Bethany was, everyone wanted her until they realize she's a killing machine, everyone wants to be on her team because she was so badass. I was tired of the ass-kissing. I also got tired of the profanities. I don't usually have any problem with that but it seems that what the entire book was about, coming up with the most stupid insult and comments about how badass Bethany was. It got tiring.

We didn't even get to meet lots of vampires in this one which I hated. I hope it picks up.

Just no

Book 2 continued all the issues from book 1: notable grammar issues, lack of character development, multiple points of view that clog the story and big it down, no emotional connection, a childish romance focused awkwardly on secondary characters, and general chaos. What made this one worse for me was how everyone finds Bethany Anne to be beautiful and delicate, and wants her until they are her kick butt; and they always see her kick butt because something convenient happens so that within a page they've gone from listing after her to fear. This makes up 90% of the plot, hence the chaos. The other 10% is Nathan and Ecaterina's blushing (gag) romance.

I need more storyline than a woman gaining powers and winning everyone over with her good looks, her supposed relatability, and her excessive wealth that she spends with no thought other than "I want, therefore it is mine." Is this supposed to be an attractive trait? I tend to associate it with children under 10. The end result is a character who is supposedly perfect, aka boring, and she's as sturdy as a paper cut out. The plot is basically meet people, cuss, fight, but something. Repeat.

I don't get why this series has such high marks. I didn't love the first book but I like the story idea enough to hope the second book has a lot of world building and character development.

There isn't as much shifting in POV which I enjoyed but very little development happens. Lots of violence and pointless profanity. Don't get me wrong I don't hate profanity I just think it should be used like an exclamation point. It loses its effect when it gets thrown all over the place. All the important people you meet in the first book don't matter or aren't mentioned. The lack of structure and thought about ramifications bugs me for a group of people who are supposed to be leaders.

I'll try the next book but I need to see some serious progression in the storyline or I'm done.

This is junk food reading that spoiled real fast. Bethany Anne, who is always called by her full name aka Queen Bitch is loved and adored by all the men she commands because she can cuss and spar better than any of them. She’s the Deus ex machina of vampiredom.

Blech.

Exciting Fast Paced Story! Great narration by Emily Beresford (audible review).

This book was much better than the first in this series. But like I said in my review of the first book, it seemed more of a prequel to this series and I was right! So glad I moved forward. But you have to read the first book to get a good understanding of where Bethany came from.

This story is full of action and action and more action. Great dialogue throughout the whole book! Funny LOL sarcasm moments. Just a fun book. Bethany Anne is getting her posse together, kicking some butt and not taking names! LOL Never a dull moment and no filler nonsense. I look forward to more of this series being released on audible.

As for the narration, it's great! Emily Beresford does a fantastic job narrating this series.

I liked this one more...

This was much better than Death Becomes Her. Bethany Anne was in the book most of the time and when she wasn’t it wasn’t as boring as the other book.

After Bethany Anne killed Petre in the last book she headed to his father’s house with every intention of kicking his ass or killing him to. Unfortunately, she found a really, really old man, so that changed her mind. Everything worked out just fine between them.

Then she took off to the States and got involved with a covert group that took care of business with no one knowing what happened. It was just one battle after another and her always making wisecracks to her team. She was so funny sometimes.

There was no sex but the F-bomb was used 52 times.

As to the narration: Emily Beresford did a lot better narrating this book. Her emotions were much better than in Death Becomes Her, but there’s still nothing memorable about her voice. I have no idea why.

Definitely better than the first one, although there are still times when the dialog is a bit contrived.

That said, this is Mary Sue goodness that I will continue to listen to.

After reading the first book in this series, "Death Becomes Her" and the way it ended on such a ready-for-ass-kicking note, I was expecting book two, "Queen Bitch" to pick right up, but it didn't. I thought, based on the first book, that Bethany Anne was going to get the vampire world back on track because she is the Queen and that would be how she got the title, but that is not what happened at all. Team Queen Bitch (TCB) and the way the title was given in the context of this story made it seem silly. It also irked me that she did not contact her father--directly--in this book. Pick up the damn phone and call your dad to let him know you are alive! The shoe shopping is becoming stupid as well.

I was disappointed.

For me, this book included too much detail on setting up a new organization. Too many new people introduced, too much talking and planning and not enough action or forward momentum. I also did not care for the cursing. It did not offend me, but I did not think it was funny and most times inappropriate to a scene. Felt forced by the author and took from the dialogue in lieu of adding to.

All the spending and amounts thrown out are unnecessary details. A few amounts here and there, but felt like the author was writing his personal wish list at times.

3 Stars from This Reader.

63% gave up for now

There were good parts! But now with Insta-Devotion (tm) 146% more irritating than Insta-Love (tm) because it makes EVEN LESS SENSE.

For GOOD devotion/loyalty building check out Daughter of the Blood or even the Chinese web novel I'm reading The Demonic King Chases His Wife: The Rebellious Good-for-Nothing Miss

Probably will come back to this some time...

I visit this site to rewrite two years+ old opinions of Kindle Unlimited drivel, which sub I ended more than a year ago. This is another which no one will read. It is tedious but needs be done in repayment for the several years of Kindle/Goodreads harassment.

Before I begin I need to step away to the YouTube for a bit. This was made possible by Doctor Who/Never Cruel or Cowardly -Ozar, NCMI, Garron, The New Enlightenment, Red Glasgow, Mia Mulder, LuckyBlackCat, Leeja Miller, ThePrimeChronus, Reese Waters, Bitchuation Room, Raw News and Politics, Supertanskiii, Keffals, Yarmak, Trae Crowder, Brittany Page, Tank Encyclopedia, The Untold Past, NanyaCim. FAFO, The Kavernacle, Yoyomi, It's History, Stephen Woodford, Eugenia from Ukraine, Professor Gerdes Explains, Jess Owens, Jen The Librarian, Britta Bohler, Hej Sokoly, May, Evie Lupine, Blooms & Greens by Chloe, The Library of a Viking, Ministry of Miniatures, Dungeons and Discourse, No Justice, Viva La Dirt League, ScaredKetchup, It ain't half hot mum, Context History, The Miracle Aligner, Sailing Melody, Read Domain, Jay Exci, RevolutionarythOt, lIttle Wars TV, IMY2, Stephen Dolges, Legendary Tactics, Jean's Thoughts, Mom on the Spectrum, Tabithaspeakspolitics, Hardy's Books, Think that Through, Roomies Digest, Bardcore, Mynameismarines, Reads with Rachel, Weird Book Club, Just in Time Worldbuilding, Lena Down Under, Dark Brandon, Leena Norms, Eileen, Parkrose Permaculture, Living Anachronism, Tod Maffin, The League of STEAM, AllShorts, Kyiv Post, Welcome to Ukraine, I've Had It, Chris Norlund, BaldBookGeek, Political Custard, DUST, Mandy, Maggie Mae Fish, The Juice Media, Puddles Pity Party, DW News, ElectroSwing, Thrifty Green Life, Words Unravelled, A Day of Small Things, UNTV, Scotland History Tours, Dropkick Murphys, Anark, Julie Nolke, Oceanliner Designs, Historian's Delamer music, The Narrowboat that James Built, Road To Communism, Omeleto, Slaggy Book Club, Squire, Captured in Words, Upon Reflection, The Tale Tinkerer, Jesse Dollemore, Guard the Leaf, Tom Nicholas.

I recently saw that a member of the Village Idiot Party who whilst insulting an essayist I mention often, complain to her that I list other trans creators. The arrogant self-importance of the outraged US man-child is truly a sight to behold.

A trigger warning then. To that idiot and fellows be aware that my reviews and the channels which I list will likely introduce the visitor to the broader world. The channels which I list include mathematician, bi, Irish, science educator, married, tall, cis, blond, socialist, queer, Ukrainian, culture critic, archaeologist, WOC, political historian. trans, astrophysicist, Swedish, book reviewer, communist and other female creators referred to by the healthily socialised as Women.

Almost as threatening will be the anthropologist, other BIPOC, Canadian, linguist, fashion historian, autist, other LGBTQ+, ginger, modeller, British, philosopher, anarchist, writer, other Neurodivergent, short, biologist, Australian, hobbyist, filmmaker and other channel creators referred by the less mentally challenged as Human Brings.

Should the voices persist, seek nearest Mahayana Buddhist temple, emergency pastoral counselling and/or repeat to self daily "Do not be a bellend today". These revisions are a chore but then I remember the early days interview with the middle aged teacher who organised and lead her civilian anti-tank team hunting Russian armour north of Kyiv. With that example I can not but continue. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!

The worldbuilding is as usual for low end Amazon US fare non-existent. Character work if attempted, failed. The plot consists of one pointless action sequence after another in a disjointed, loosely connected chain of events.

Characters worth caring about, can not survive in this environment. That assumes such a character were even envisaged. With this writer, that obviously was not the case. I am not impressed by the dialogue. A Trish (more like a Karen) wrote a number of comments on my last review of the series, which praised the dialogue and told me that my opinion was wrong. Not how or on what she based her opinion.

I think that despite her argumentative fuzziness, she meant that she was a big fan of the Queen Bitch character and label. I can only guess but I assume that she found the main character empowering. I can understand a woman taking that position, just as I can understand why people of colour join police forces. Self-loathing encourages strange reactions and decision making.

My thought is that perhaps guilty pleasures are best kept private, rather than broadcast in comments across the site. I am from a very poor, working class background. Despite university, I may be too parochial or backward to interpret these phenomena correctly and my personal reaction is unacceptable, unfashionable or in some other way violates common social convention. In that case forgive my Ill-advised honesty.

Dominance struggles do not replace a story of people with real emotions processing reality. The characters continue their slow decline into anime stills. There are moments when some characters are almost alive before plunging into the next bravado filled mini-crisis.

The main character loves the title "Queen Bitch" which is a term of endearment according to no woman (not totally broken) ever. Misogyny runs rampant in the book and no female character development attempted. The characters encounter no non-americans.

This was the first of three writers over five years which were this bad but tried to read regardless. This series was to discover what made it popular and learn how not to write science fiction.

Consider treating this as a potentially hostile site. 🤔

Goodreads do not encourage discourse. The last book review to receive comments was Powers of the Earth, a poorly written, juvenile salute to the psychotic January 6, 2021 hero. The book is a tale of a twat having recently inherited wealth attempting to enlist the military to overthrow the US government in order not to pay taxes. I found the story line while common in Kindle Unlimited to be dangerous and unhealthy.

The writer Travis Corcoran, self-described as libertarian (now anarcho capitalist without portfolio?) and advocate for the return of chattel slavery (increasingly popular US stance), veteran, employee of an unnamed US agency and admirer of Putin (another popular US stance among MAGA and White House).

A bill has been proposed in a southern state to legalise slavery again, only four years after slavery was removed from the last state list of legal punishments. The current reality is one in which Trump's government have defied numerous court orders and decreed executive decisions to be law. Russia have been made an ally of the US. The poverty of Russia outside of Moscow and St Petersburg is being replicated across the US.

Only white males are now recognised as full citizens and BIPOC can now be victims of extra-judicial murder with no consequences. These promises were made by the Republican Party and their candidate. The "Enemy Aliens Act" currently used for deportations, was last used to force the entire Japanese American population to desert concentration camps at the US entry into World War 2.

Travis is quite the visionary. The Corcoran and six fellow patriots took issue with my judgement of the plot. They proceeded to spend close to a year in repeated demands for a response to their unhinged opinions. As a communist, the levels of irony were painful.

The final comment was delivered by Claes Rees Jr aka cgr710 now ka Clayton R Jesse Jr. After referencing the contents of my last message to a friend on the side, he declared that They had "won" (?). I discovered that They had launched a year long (which continues still) flood of vile misogynistic, racist, anti-working class and anti-LGBTQ+ comments against apparently every female creator of channels which I mentioned.

The lovely UK English couple restoring a historic wooden boat, the family of a US lumber yard owner, the Scottish pensioner, the Polish fashion historian and other female creators were little impressed. The planet's overabundance of unpleasantness was certainly increased and They did disseminate a most accurate self-portrait of the Snowflake (vicious, self-important, poorly educated US man-child ) to a multinational audience. It seems that was a Victory. Goodreads discourse is a wonder ??

After finding nothing of value in Goodreads, I turned to YouTube for science fiction channels. I found the science fiction commentary channels eventually and I was then fortunate in finding the book channels. 😍 They are a wonderful variety of channels covering all aspects of the world of books. The reader communities are curious, cosmopolitan and excited by all things bookish. The experience is completely opposite to that of Goodreads.

While on YouTube, I saw advertisements for a number of dedicated educational video sites. While YouTube host essayists and documentary channels, these sites carry many more of each as well as lecture series and more.

Another YouTube stepaway have been earned. This next is courtesy of channels Doctor Who/Be Kind - Reality Genre Studios, NCMI, Russian Media Monitor, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, Ukraine Calling, Reese Waters, Admiral Sea Bass, Supertanskiii, Vasya in the Hay, Postmodern Jukebox, Depressed Russian, Sarah C M Paine, Cunk, Octopus Lady, FAFO, NFKRZ, Central Crossing, Brittany Page, Tibees, Queen Penguin, Some More News, Haropones, Roisin's Reading, Nerdy Kathi, Strange Aeons, Battle Order, No Justice, AllShorts, Broken Peach, Malling Film, Chloe Daniels, Tank Museum, Songs Sped Up - MSI, Dr Fatima -physicist, Cruising the Cut, Hoots, Geo Girl, Gutsick Gibbon, Anark, History with Kayleigh, Amazing Lucas, Queer Kiwi, Yanis Varoufakis, Riverboat Jack, Red Glasgow, Lily Simpson, Jessica Kellgren-Fozard, Ember Green, Aid Thompsin, Raw News and Politics, Fiona Hill, Then & Now, Tallgirl6234, Nicole Chilaka-Ukpo, Planarwalker, Miniminuteman, Cruising Crafts, Military Show, Winging it on a Budget, Cindy's Villa, Perun, Tom Powell, Hello Future Me, Motif React, Parkrose Permaculture, Candycourn, Chris Norlund, Verilybitchie, Paul Warburg, Philosophy Tube, Romaboo Rambling, Girls Rock Asia, Randy Rainbow, Yankee Farm Wife, Crecganford, FAFO, Bardcore, Radio Retrofuture, Tank Encyclopedia, ConeOfArc, Acollierastro, Dark Side of Russia, Adriftdrifkooniftdriloon, Hildegard von Blingin, Stanzi, Subha Reads Books, The Cosy Creative, Hayley Alexis, Steve Shives, OxfordUnion, Emilie's LIbrary Corner, aidan knight, RevolutionaryThOt, Kady.2.0, Elisabeth Wheatley, Amadeus Quartet, The Great War, Kings and Generals, Veritas et Caritas, Anka Daily News, Think That Through, Andrewism, Answer in Progress, Kat Blacque, bibliosophie, Mom on the Spectrum, Owen Jones, Perun, Amie's literary Empire.

Ominous music begins. 🙂 Goodreads Romance/Romantasy fans have been been documented doxxing, stalking and threatening one and two star readers sometimes led by writers and certainly supported by employees. The phenomenon also occurs in science fiction as my experience demonstrates.

These nutcases were given my limited message history by Kindle/Goodreads. This allowed a request to Pine Gap Centre that Australian Security services interrogate the one friend whom I occasionally messaged. The attempt at my personal information failed, though two customers were left outraged.

Amazon had no response until we shared our experience with others. Suddenly Australia scrubbed records and Amazon returned my pages to normal layout. All lurkers whom I had not been Allowed to remove previously suddenly disappeared, .!even the unreachable Dr Susan Hamilton - University of Tennessee, all comments (no longer member names alone) were then masked and other irregularities changed.

Recently I saw that a seventh ex-employee of EBay was sentenced for harassment of a couple whose small ecommerce channel had been deemed unkind to EBay. The couple were awarded several millions and the ex-employee had been the EBay Chief of Global Security or some such. With the Trump ascension to the US crown, I imagine that all corporations, hedge funds and other vultures will certainly behave more badly.

I recommend precautions if you have made the mistake of purchasing the Kindle and using Goodreads. Remove all personal information from profile and avoid messaging. Remove the lurker while still Allowed. Those friends who never post are neither admirers nor harmless but are instead monitors. Given the cavalier Goodreads approach to customer pages and data, the screenshot of the odd, the ugly and threatening ?are literally invaluable.

If you are exposed only to Goodreads, possess a strong stomach, harbour low expectations and employ critical thinking, these should suffice. There are many BookTubers from whom you can request a list of alternatives.

You have purchased or contemplated owning a Kindle. Do Not "purchase" Kindle ebooks, since your ownership of titles is a lease only, which can be terminated by Amazon at their whim. Do Not use Kindle Files, Calendar, Contact or Email if you value your work or the safety of friends or family. Searches on Kindle Silk should be innocuous and non-critical.

The facts detailed in this review need not concern the estimated 75% of white males and 53%+ of white women (I think those numbers are understated by 5 to 10% and 10 to 25% respectively) who voted for the televised, publicly stated and repeated platform espoused by the newly installed King and Republican Party. I should also include the 60% plus Latino males and 40% females (each probably understated by 15 to 35%) who also voted for same, assuming that the repeatedly promised harm would only fall on black American communities. I was stunned by the depth of anti-black racism espoused in interviews and video by Latino commentators. White, Asian, Latino, Muslim and Black creators have commented on the racism driven decision making to be found in all the voting blocs.

It may sicken you to watch to the FAFO channels but it is the only way to understand the casual violence of Goodreads members and the strange silence of the supposed majority. I leave to the reader whether this site may be dangerous to any who find the current US fare in fiction disturbing. The nutters are not quite human but are US patriots. Ominous music ends. 🙂

Be safe and may we all discover Good Reading. 😊

Ok, I think I'm in love

I have no idea how I didn't start this series earlier (didn't even hear about it until someone recommended it to me).
Whyyyyy do amazing books have so few people reading them!!

But, seriously, this has the potential to be one of the best series I've ever read (or to at least get in the top 10 or something).

Plus, OMGGGG!!!!!
That feeling when you see your country, your CITY in a book! And with really accurate descriptions and stuff, wow! And I live in Romania, Brasov (don't worry, no one's actually heard of this city), so it's even more amazing to hear about it

“Queen Bitch (Kurtherian Gambit 2)” is another hilariously entertaining fast-paced story in the life (afterlife) of BA - Bethany Ann.

BA is fashionable! She loves heels, looks “damned good in a hat/veil”, and is determined not to lose her Louboutin heels in the Everglades!

Vampires are revealed to be the product of alien nanites….so +100 for creativity!

In support of BA, her human team dons fake fangs and red contact lenses!!! hahahaha

I loved this book! 5*

Queen Bitch - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The sensational saga by Master of the UnknownWorld Michael Anderle, continues with Bethany Anne's arrival in the US after resolving issues of rebellion and dishonor in Romania and Switzerland.
Her new SWAT team of Eric, John, Scott, Darrell and pilot/mechanic Bill/'Bobcat' Carlson is put together with the help of her Government liaison Frank Kurns, while ally Nathan controls Were dissenters and supporters.

Who does Bethany Anne recruit from Europe - and why is this person happy to be in the States?
What property does Bethany Anne purchase in Florida and why?
When hostages are taken at a bank how is the situation resolved?
How is John injured during the mission? How does Bethany Anne save his life?

Once you start to read the legend of Bethany Anne you'll be happy to stay up all night - like I did - to read just one more page/chapter/to the end because Michael Anderle's heroine and her story will become like your life's blood - once she enters it you'll never be the same again!

This is a fun quick read. There is still plenty of action that is not glossed over but the characters and their interactions are great. So far I am really enjoying this series

Not bad, but not great

The operative phrase seems to be "deus ex machina", there's just no real challenges encountered and overcome, everything is blown away by the near-godlike protagonist or her functionally infinite monetary resources. It's almost like someone played a video game on easy, then wrote a book about it.

The writing is solid, the characters aren't terrible (call them 2.5D; not quite flat, but not fully fleshed out). The descriptions are good enough: enough detail to set the scene, not so much as to bog everything down. Michael's obviously done some research, as things (guns, cars, planes, whatever) are called out right (at least mostly, maybe entirely; I wouldn't recognize a problem with helicopter models or such).

The problem is that the protagonist is so personally powerful and has so much money there's nothing interesting happening. The story moves along, then the book ends. In terms of Freytag's pyramid, it's all exposition; rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement are weak or lacking.

Perhaps these aspects are present on the greater scale, but I think I'm done with the series at this book.

Nope.

The instant devotion is getting to be a little bit too much for me. If cussing a lot was going to give you eternal devotion, I should have had my own harem by this point. -_- And also, why on earth would it be an advantage for a stick-thin woman to have huge breasts? I'm sorry, but this is just plain illogical and pointless. Combine all of the above with the random extravagant spending and the one-sided and always accurate moral judgement, and I feel a little like I'm in the SFF equivalent of a modern art painting. Nothing makes sense, I'm getting a headache and by god am I bored out of my bloody mind.

The concepts introduced in book 1 were interesting, but book 2 was really not my thing and I am just really glad I managed to finish it, while wondering why I even bothered. Note that this is quite possibly an indication of style-reader mismatch rather than actual quality of writing, though.
