A fine middle chapter in a very drawn-out final showdown between good and evil for control of the cooking school.
I wish at least one of the three competitions would have wrapped up in this volume, but once again we have to wait for the next installment. At this point in the series these endings are less cliffhangers than momentum killers. I'm still enjoying the series and characters though.

The Elite Ten sweep the second bout, so the rebels have lost Kuga, Subaru, and Tosuke. Also, in line with "General" Erina's strategy, this bout has conveniently exhausted Eishi (first seat) and Rindo (second seat) from the Central side, so they won't be able to compete in the third bout. Somei, the sushi chef who bested Subaru, will be required to compete in bout three as a result, alongside Evil Eizan and Scary Cute Momo.
In the third bout, the rebels send out the first-years! It's about time these OG characters got a little more face time with the reader. Soma, Takumi, and Megumi have been working together and competing against each other for some time now and can work fluidly as a team. They specifically set out to do just that, a trump card that may help them in this challenge featuring so many strong Elite Ten. I enjoy watching this group band together to fight their common enemy. However, the plot doesn't make full use of it (mainly they help each other prep necessary ingredients), probably because each character needs to be able to stand on his/her own as a cook. That means no last-minute saves by a teammate...it's all on the individual competitor.
Megumi, who's always been timid and self-doubting, gathers up her courage to face the Elite Ten. She's come a long way from where she was at the start of the series, when she was at the bottom of the class and one failing grade away from expulsion. She now also has the benefit of extra training from Shinomiya. While Soma spent his regimental training time working with his father, and Takumi received extra training from Gin, Megumi had to face her first big antagonist from the series...Shinomiya, who tried to fail her for changing his terrine recette! It seems that Megumi and Shinomiya have a lot in common...both have lowly "country bumpkin" origins and specialize in vegetables. Very interesting pair...
On a side note, why haven't we seen Shinomiya, Joichiro, and Gin at the regimental competition itself (reaction shots or otherwise)? Is it to give the students more agency -- i.e., a win is a triumph they can call their own, with no coaching from the sidelines?
It's also been bothering me for the last few volumes that the rebels who are spectating from the cage always sort of have their faces ghosting out past the bars of the cage -- so you can identify them -- but it also looks weird, as if the cage weren't solid.
In the third bout, Soma and Somei duke it out over a butter theme, while Megumi and Momo take on apple. Takumi and Eizan must face off over beef.
Takumi has been known for his abilities in Italian cuisine up until now (because he's Italian), but apparently one of his stagiaire placements was at a traditional Japanese full-course restaurant. Therefore, he's also added some new tricks to his repertoire. Working this unseen angle of Takumi's story is a great job on the part of the writer -- each of the first-years had four stagiaire placements, but the plotline didn't cover all of the stagiaires during this arc. This leaves room for storylines and background development that stem from the stagiaires not mentioned. In this case, we didn't know Takumi developed some Japanese cuisine skills!
Takumi has apparently studied the way Eizan works -- though Eizan is an able chef, he has also resorted to underhanded trickery to win his past shokugekis, often using his knowledge of food chemistry to negate or otherwise disrupt the taste of his opponents' cooking. Takumi anticipates that Eizan will do the same to him -- as far-fetched as it seems -- and watches him carefully during ingredient selection and preparation to anticipate Eizan's artichoke attack and manipulate his own dish so that it'll come out tasting just right. This seems like absolute bullshit (and even Eizan says so), but okay, why not. The writer does need to come up with ways for the underclassmen to win.

One of the characters that I really hate the most in this manga is Eizan. I think no matter what happens I will always hate him and will always wish him to go drop dead or go to hell! He is such a dick ! What a character! So effective in pissing me off! I just wanna get rid of him. Though I know Takumi has something up his sleeve so I am crossing fingers he will really figure something out. I am sure he will!
As for Eizan I wish someone will just poison him asap with excruciating pain in the poison. A poison that will slowly kill him. My gosh! He makes me extra mad!

Seguimos en el shokugeki de destacamentos. En este tomo tenemos los resultados del segundo asalto que nos quedaron pendientes en el tomo anterior, como es costumbre de estos autores y de esta serie en especial. Y tenemos el comienzo del tercer enfrentamiento.
Los resultados son un poco predecibles, tras la rotunda victoria de los opositores en el primer enfrentamiento, el segundo enfrentamiento tiene al primer y segundo asiento de parte de central, contra algunos oponentes no tan fuertes de parte de los opositores. En este tomo tenemos la conclusión de sus platillos y de nuevo son creativos e interesantes, siendo el más interesante el del primer asiento Tsukasa. Los resultados son obvios y la parte sorpresiva quizá es cómo terminan los asaltos los asientos de Central, agotados.
Las habilidades pulidas de Mimasaka y la colaboración de los opositores en ese segundo asalto me gustaron.
De ahí viene la parte quizá tediosa. El autor le dedica unos tres o cuatro capítulos a mostrarnos el entrenamiento y la preparación de los opositores para el siguiente asalto. Vemos que Megumi tomó un entrenamiento especial con Shinomiya y vemos que las duplas para el tercer asalto son interesantes aunque también podemos intuir un poco los resultados de estos asaltos que vienen.
La última parte del tomo es el enfrentamiento del tercer asalto contra central. Estamos llegando al final del shokugeki de destacamentos, espero que este arco concluya el siguiente tomo y si no, sería un tomo más, en el 29, pero espero que no alarguen la historia tanto porque mataría el ritmo nuevamente.
El enfrentamiento del tercer asalto es interesante y por eso le di tres estrellas al tomo y no dos. Si en el segundo asalto vimos a Mimasaka ayudar a su compañero, en este tomo vemos esas técnicas de cooperación perfeccionadas. Los tres opositores trabajan en un equipo perfecto.
El highlight de los combates del tercer asalto es Eizan de los diez asientos contra Takumi Aldini. A lo largo de la serie hemos visto a Eizan hacer algunas trampas y algunas estrategias para derrotar a Soma y a Aldini. Aquí vemos que su estilo de cocina es tramposo y utiliza algunos ingredientes para arruinar la degustación de su oponente. Ojalá el resultado de este enfrentamiento estuviera en este tomo, pero como es costumbre, será con lo que comenzará el siguiente tomo.

Vemos el final del shokugueki que quedo en pausa el numero pasado.
Problema, Explican muy bien el combate del que copia con el del sushi. Eso esta muy bien.
De los otros dos explican muy mínimamente quien gano y por que, eso no me gusto.
De ahí pasamos a la siguiente ronda. Donde serán Soma Tadakor y Aldini los que compiten. Y en esta parece que si se están ayudando como equipo, eso es bueno.
Finalmente llega el turno del shokugueki de Aldini, y su contrincante

I can't believe these people aim to be professional chefs and are so tired after a single meal, like two hours of cooking total, they have to take two days to rest. What? Pardon me? You have to pad this arc out even longer and this is how you do it?
Yeah sure the five pages of Tadokoro being relevant are cute, and I like that Aldini is getting the focus, but the "Alchemist" and his lame supervillain plot is such a weird and crooked wrench in how these battles go.

I enjoyed that Megumi came back into focus a bit more in this one. Plus, I found the big food reveal/twist particularly interesting.

I read this series with my boyfriend and we read it out loud. Thank goodness we were at home because he fanboy-ed so hard when Shinomiya showed up. And I’ll admit he’s my second favorite senpai (Isshiki is #1) so I was plenty excited as well.
As for the actual story, we get the results of round two and begin round three, but all we really get is a bunch of foreshadowing hints that say Team Soma will win the third round. And just a little hint that Soma himself is not normal in the slightest sense of the word.
This series has 36 volumes.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Sōma!, Vol. 27 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (227–235) of the on-going manga series.
The tankōbon gives the results of the Second Bout of the Régiment de Cuisine and begins the Third Bout. Unanimously, Central Culinary Institute won, which means Subaru Mimasaka, Tōsuke Megishima, and Terunori Kuga were eliminated, which leaves both teams with five teammates left. However, despite their victory – it was a pyrrhic one as Sōmei Saitō, Rindō Kobayashi, and Eishi Tsukasa is too exhausted and would be out of commission for most of the day.
The very next day, the Third Bout of the Régiment de Cuisine begins. The Third Card is a match focusing on Apples between Megumi Tadokoro and Third Seat Momo Akanegakubo, the Second Card is a match focusing on Beef between Takumi Aldini and Seventh Seat Etsuya Eizan, and the First Card match focusing on Butter between Sōma Yukihira and Fourth Seat Sōmei Saitō, who seamlessly recovered.

Team work!
World: The art is solid, this series has been fairly solid in its art and it keeps this standard. The world building is solid also bringing the past back into play. The pieces used and the characters are well done.
Story: The end of the second round which was expected and the third round which was also expected. The team work here is great and I like the difference in style which is fairly heavy handed in its message. The history of the characters makes this so much more than it normally would be Megumi being trained by...yes!
Characters: A beautiful full arcs for Megumi with meeting and being trained by awesome. Aldini getting his revenge. It may not end that way but the pieces are placed for maximum character interaction.

The results of the previous bouts are revealed and the next three ingredients (butter, beef, and apples) are revealed.
There's too much dragging out the various cooking battles currently but I'm still enjoying it. Megumi, who is probably my favorite, finally gets some attention. One of the Central members uses artichokes in a very sneaky way due to a food chemistry fact that I didn't know. I'm still not going to eat artichokes though!

Desde el volumen 1 hasta el volumen 30, este manga es increíble. No puedo creer la velocidad a la que lo devoré, definitivamente fue un gusto enorme encontrarme con esta historia.
Todos los volúmenes tienen un inicio y un final que te deja con muchas ganas de seguir leyendo y sobre todo, la comida, la historia, los diálogos, todo tiene un sentido y espero que todas esos platillos sean posibles en la vida real.

The results of the second bout battles in this volume were predictable, from a dramatic viewpoint, but still disappointing from the "I went the Central faction to lose every battle, horribly" viewpoint.
I'm learning more about food than I'd ever expected. For instance, the results on the tongue of the chemical in artichokes is something that I'd never heard of.
I'm anxiously waiting to see how the teamwork of Soma and his friends plays out from what happens in the last parts of this volume.

Getting intense!!!
Definitely the third bout is an epic battle, especially since Soma is there. I definitely know how this will turn out, but I'm excited to see to see how it happens in the next volume. 5 stars for sure on this one. One more volume to go so far before the release of another one pretty soon I hope.

I'm actually still enjoying this sprawling battle between Yukihira's group and Central. Most of the central folks...eh. But I actually really kind of like Saito, as well as Rindo. And I liked seeing Megumi in shojo sports manga mode--ha!

I never seen this before - "or-anges". I didn't think that normal text fonts would hyphenate the word orange.
