5☆ heartwarming, full of Christmas Charm
A Little Christmas Faith is a beautiful book about family, learning to trust and love again, new beginnings and new business venture, with the added magic of Christmas.
Faith has just opened The Old Mill and not only does it ooze oodles of Christmas Charm, Faith has employed her teenage niece Chloe to help out on reception desk.... and wow her customer service skills are hmmm interesting!
She is your typical moody Teen. She made me cringe and laugh alot, but I loved her!
So Faith's first customer is the very sexy, Moody, closed book Adam!
Adam doesn't do Christmas!!
He is mysterious and intriguing but For some reason Faith has this way of getting him to open up!
The chemistry between them are sizzling. All faith can think about is kissing his face off or ripping his clothes off!
Could this be the start of something special?
A Little Christmas Faith is my first book I have read by Kathryn and I'm very excited to read more.
I loved that each chapter counts down to Christmas. I love the beautiful charm of the hotel, even the restaurant and the mini gym!
There are some perfectly laugh out loud moments, charming and real characters who could easily become your friend, there are some beautiful heartwarming and emotional moments that will leave you smiling, crying and laughing. But most of all not wanting the story to end!
Truly is the Perfect Christmas read!

Since being a little girl Faith Watkins had dreamed of owning her own hotel. When the ‘Old Mill’ in the Lake District went up for sale, Faith knew she had to buy it. Now, ten days before Christmas, Faith was finally opening the doors and welcoming guests, well her parents and one paying guest, Adam Hunter, to be precise.
Adam Hunter is trying to get away from ‘Christmas’ and had booked to stay at the ‘Old Mill’ over the festive period. Upon walking into the hotel he is greeted, eventually, by a moody teenager with an attitude (Chloe, Faith’s niece) and it would seem he has also entered Santa’s grotto, as Faith certainly hadn’t held back on the decorations.
Can Faith help Adam learn to enjoy Christmas again?
I’ll openly admit, I’m not a real lover of Christmas. Every year I try to help get myself into the Christmas Spirit, with the help of Christmas movies and of course festive books.
A Little Christmas Faith is certainly a book that can help squash that Bah Humbug feeling. The whole book is written to perfection. Ms. Freeman has captured the spirit of Christmas and spread it out within the pages.
The characters are all very realistic as well as likeable, even Chloe. I could picture the hotel in all its glory, and the scent of Christmas wafted off each page.
This is an easy read that flowed naturally. I knew from the start where the plot was heading, but I didn’t know how it was going to get there. This is a book filled with romance, laugh-out-loud moments, with the odd tear jerking scene mixed in too.
It was a heartwarming, cosy, grab that cup of hot chocolate, put on that roaring fire and snuggle up with, type of book. It most definitely is one to add to your festive reading list.

This is a really quick and easy book to read. I read it in one day and still managed to do a full days work. I think one of the reasons for this is that it is split into a 10 day countdown (to Christmas) and while there are chapters within each ‘day’ you feel like you need to finish the day to see how each bit ends. Each day is it’s own little story and I found that quite endearing.
All the characters are enjoyable. For once (it feels like) the hero isn’t in the style of Mr Darcy and while he does harbour the usual deep secrets he seems quite affable rather than dour and I could see him very clearly in my imagination.
Faith herself is a woman trying to start her own hotel business and hoping for it’s success, worrying that her hotel won’t be full over the Christmas season. But this is a Christmas love story so you know it will all have a happy ending. The fun is in how we get there. I loved the accidental nativity scene with pregnant Mary, Joe and the three wise men. I liked the resolutions of the past. Truly a heart-breaking event that happened but I enjoyed everyone making up, acknowledging wrong doings and the brief discussion of mental health problems that arise. It was nice to see this tackled and sensitively (trying to discuss without spoilers!)
Overall I really enjoyed this, it’s a nice book to read as we run up to Christmas, it’s warm and cosy and everyone has the happy endings they deserve. What’s not to love?

Kathryn Freeman has done it again and produced yet another fantastic story, full of romance, Christmas, a man oozing sex appeal, and some lovely sub plots too.
I just loved every aspect of Faith's brand new hotel in the Lake District, which is such a great setting for a book. From the giant Christmas tree in the lobby, to the descriptions of the gym. She has her unconventional teenage niece working on the reception desk, to gorgeous dogs that keep putting in unexpected appearances, and a family that seems to care a lot about her.
Adam on the other hand wants to escape from Christmas, so he decides to stay in a hotel away from everyone he knows. He just wasn't expecting to meet Faith, or for there to be such an attraction between them.
The chemistry between Faith and Adam was sizzling, but its not just about them, there is a lot to be explained about Adam's past that makes him act the way he is which was gripping to read too.
There is quite a lot to this story that is presented in segments counting down the 10 days until Christmas. The first line of the book really made me laugh too and was a good way to set the scene for the story ahead.
I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this story, I couldn't get enough of it. There are some fantastic characters, great storylines all wrapped in some good writing that drew me in and kept me interested throughout. A Little Christmas Faith is a great book for this festive period.

Ahh I just love a sweet holiday romance novel and A Little Christmas Faith delivered on all levels for me. I crave a happily ever after during the holiday season and find comfort in a read that makes me smile. It was sparkly, gorgeous, humorous and had enough spice between the two lead characters to keep me entertained and feeling all warm and fuzzy in the end.
I totally connected with Faith straightaway when she confessed she adores Christmas as I do as well. She goes over the top with her decorations and since she’s just opened up a hotel right before Christmas, it’s the perfect excuse to make a big splash with holiday decor. Adam is her first real guest and there’s an instant spark between them that they can’t ignore. Their chemistry was the perfect combination between sexy and sweet and despite them rushing into a fling I was rooting for them to work out long term. Adam has a troubled past that remained a mystery for most of the book but when he finally does reveal what’s been bothering him I may have grown even more fond of him than I was before. Ok, to be honest he did make me swoon just a little!
This was a totally delightful book that I read next to my own Christmas tree and it really helped to put me in a holly jolly mood. It was my first book by the author but it won’t be my last as I was charmed by her ability to create lovely characters and a heartwarming, engaging storyline.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! Sorry for the loud exclamation but I just love it when I find a story that really burrows into my heart and makes me feel all fuzzy and warm inside, and that's exactly how I felt when I finished A LITTLE CHRISTMAS FAITH by Kathryn Freeman.
Faith Watkins has finally realised her dream and owns the beautiful Old Mill Hotel in the Lake District. Decked out in all of its Christmas finery, the place is ready and waiting for guests to come and fall in love with its historic charm and then everything would be perfect. But with only one paying guest booked in so far, Faith worries that she might have bitten off more than she can chew, and when she sees the guest in question, this handsome stranger with pain in his eyes, he presents a whole other problem for Faith as she cannot help but feel the intense chemistry between them. But Adam Hunter hates Christmas and falling for the sexy hotel owner is the last thing he needs after all the pain he has caused to those he loved in the past. But as events and disasters unfold, Adam becomes closer to Faith than anyone else before, but he cannot let her find out the heartbreaking truth about him as it could destroy everything ...
The characters are absolutely superb in this tale and I loved Faith and her close family, especially her cheeky mum who had a knack for saying exactly what I was thinking! Faith is a strong, independent woman who is determined to make her business a success and when she becomes closer to Adam we get to see her more vulnerable and emotional side which makes her really relatable. My heart broke for Adam who is such an endearing man and I desperately wanted to know what put the shadows in his eyes and be prepared to shed a tear or two as the story unfolds. The setting is festive perfection and I could imagine myself at the hotel with a hot chocolate in one hand and a book in the other.
A LITTLE CHRISTMAS FAITH by Kathryn Freeman is a perfect Christmas romance with plenty of mayhem, great characters, and sizzling chemistry to get your teeth into, and I highly recommend it to fiction fans everywhere - go on, treat yourself this holiday season!!!

What an absolutely perfect read for this holiday season! I loved everything about this book starting with the beautiful cover! I truly hated to see this book come to an end as I loved each and every character. I received a copy of this book from Choc Lit and I look forward to reading more books by this author!

What a lovely story! I liked it from the first page and I wanted to keep on reading and reading because I wanted to know what was going on with Adam. Unfortunately one does have to do something else during the day. LOL. It was an easy read, fluently written. A feelgood story but a bit different than most feelgood stories. It was not the like boy meets girl, girl likes boy, boy likes girl but they don't admit it and it takes ages before their first kiss. Here this part was smoother and therefore a lot less annoying.
I do not like christmas at all, but this book could certainly capture my attention. If you are already thinking about decorating your tree, this might be the story for you.

This christmas story has given me all the feels and got my festive reads of 2017 off to a fabulous start!!
Faith is opening a brand new hotel 10 days before Christmas - and she knows she's mad for doing so! Located in the Lake District it has the perfect setting, and it's something she has wanted to do for a long time and with the support of her family her dream is about to come true!
Her first customer is Adam, who is looking to escape all things festive! He is a mysterious character as you do wonder what he is trying to avoid, but the spark between him and Faith is almost instant and wonderful to see develop over his time at the hotel.
As with any new business there are a few hiccups along the way, and with Faiths' 15 year old niece drafted in to help on reception, when she's going through the moody teenager phase, Faith might not quite be getting the help she wants to make the best impression on new clients! But as they delve deeper into Chloe and her attitude issues, a new side to her starts to show. Loved the way the family pulled together through the tougher times and gives a great message for Christmas of putting yourself out for others.
I loved all the different threads of this book as there was so many wonderful characters to read about all who had such different stories, and there is a great humour throughout which really lifted the story and had me chuckling at many occasions! The perfect romance story in an idyllic setting!!

When Faith opens her new hotel a few weeks before christmas, she doesnt think that she will be attracted to any of her guests, far less the first one through the door. But the thing is, along with his bulging biceps, guest Adam has lots of baggage, and not the kind to transport his clothes. A Little Christmas Faith by Kathryn Freeman is a feel-good festive hit that begs to be unwrapped on Christmas day. 4 stars

Well I certainly don't have to think twice about snapping up a copy of a Kathryn Freeman book. There may be snow on the gorgeous cover, but I just knew I was going to end up with a warm glow inside...and I was not disappointed. Kathryn has a knack of creating down to earth characters that you can easily identify with. Her characters aren't perfect but more true to life and it's not all moonlight and roses, it's more drizzle and dandelions but that's why her books are so special. This is real life, warts and all with a dollop of romance and a huge helping of humour.
Faith Watkins' dream has come true: ever since she was a little girl, she dreamed of owning her own hotel. Now after all her hard work, the doors are open and Faith is welcoming the first guests. Ok, it's her Mum and Dad but how lovely is that? They are so supportive and family is clearly very important to Faith - she has even employed her troubled niece to work on reception. Faith's first real guest is Adam Hunter and there is just something so mouthwateringly delicious about him. Faith has been working so hard that there's been no time for men but Adam is just so alluring - she can't fraternise with a guest, can she? It's her hotel, she can make up her own rules but surely a guy looking like Adam isn't single?
Adam is tall, dark and very troubled. He is SO damaged and so very deep that I didn't think Faith would ever crack his shell and release all his demons. His story is so heartbreaking, not only the things he has gone through but how guilt has eaten him up. Thank goodness that fate saw fit to steer him in Faith's direction but when Christmas is over he'll be checking out and going back home. After tasting the sweet fruit of love, can Faith swallow the bitter pill of loneliness when Adam leaves?
A Little Christmas Faith is a festive delight from Kathryn Freeman. Make sure you put it on your Christmas list. It's so much fun with characters that you instantly warm to, I laughed and cried with them but felt that familiar uncontrollable smile creeping on to my face as the final chapter drew to a close. I'm going to call it my Kathryn Freeman smile as she NEVER fails to put a smile on my face, sometimes after putting me through the emotional wringer of course! So wrap up warm, snuggle under your blanket beside the fire and pick up a copy of A Little Christmas Faith. It's guaranteed to leave you with such a warm glow and a huge smile on your face.

A Little Christmas Faith is another charmer by Kathryn Freeman. I enjoy her style which always makes the story flow smoothly while pulling the reader in and making you feel as though you are a part of the experience.
Faith has rather crazily decided to open up her new hotel just before Christmas, eager to make a good impression she is thrilled when she has a ‘real’ guest, Adam. Her family staying doesn’t count right?
One huge problem Faith hasn’t taken into account with all her decorations and OTT festivities is the fact Adam can’t abide Christmas and simply wants a bolt hole to escape his idea of hell.
Now this wouldn’t be a sappy seasonal book if he ruins it all would it!? However the reality behind his dislike is real and painful and it takes Faith a lot of patience and hard work to slowly draw him out of his protective shell. I liked both of these guys, Faith is so sweet and caring, Adam just oozes manliness so he gets my vote. Add in her family and a couple of furry friends and it makes for a satisfying story.
The descriptions of the hotel decorated in all it’s glory is enough to melt a corner of the hardest hearts so if you haven’t quite got into the spirit of the season yet maybe this is a good place to start.

Faith has rather crazily decided to open up her new hotel just before Christmas, eager to make a good impression she is thrilled when she has a ‘real’ guest, Adam. Her family staying doesn’t count right?
One huge problem Faith hasn’t taken into account with all her decorations and OTT festivities is the fact Adam can’t abide Christmas and simply wants a bolt hole to escape his idea of hell.
Now this wouldn’t be a sappy seasonal book if he ruins it all would it!? However the reality behind his dislike is real and painful and it takes Faith a lot of patience and hard work to slowly draw him out of his protective shell. Enjoyed this story despite predicting the outcome but it was very light hearted and easy to read.

OHMYGOSH WHAT A BOOK!!!!
‘A Little Christmas Faith’ ticked every single box of mine. It has romance, albeit a very rushed one which did make me go a ‘hmmmm’ to begin with, but it’s there. If you’re a true romantic then you’ll be reading this book with heart shapes in your eyes like a lovesick puppy. But, if you’re like me (severely unromantic), then there is a chance that you’ll be going through the whole range of emojis’s before finally giving in and reaching the one with the heart-shaped eyes. For me to believe a romance between characters, I need to feel it. I need the author to write with such tender yet powerful words, enough to be able to get through the ice exterior around my heart. Being totally honest with you, it can take a lot. However for Kathryn Freeman, she is the type of author who can turn me from Queen Elsa into Cinderella as though it’s the most natural thing in the world. You’ve got to admit, that is pretty genius.
Not only does this book have romance, it also, in my eyes, contains enough laugh out loud moments to give Peter Kay’s upcoming tour a run for its money. I think I snlaughed several times. Wait, no. I KNOW I snlaughed several times. It’s great when a book can make you laugh, but by golly the author has got something if they can make you snlaugh. Obviously it won’t win an swipes on Tinder, but who cares when you’re snlaughing!!
Romance and humour – two perfect combinations, agreed? Well, ‘A Little Christmas Faith’ doesn’t just contain those two. Nope. It also contains a jaw dropping ‘oh where the Christmas pudding did that come from?!?’ moment. No joke. It’s not often I’m speechless yet a certain part of this storyline made me that way. I am in awe at how this author has managed to create a storyline with not one, not two, but three strong elements within her storyline which not only caught me off guard, they also made me stop and think. Of course when a storyline contains a multitude of thought-provoking themes, there is a higher chance of emotion being brought to the surface – Kathryn Freeman’s novel certainly has one of those types of storylines.
Personally, I find tearless emotion a lot stronger than emotion which allows the tears to fall. It’s a type of emotion which is often unexplainable due to the strength surrounding it. It’s like being surrounded by an emotional orb with the only explanation being: ‘read this book then you’ll know’. And you know what? ‘A Little Christmas Faith’ brought out that tearless emotion like a rollercoaster ride at a theme park. How could anyone even begin to explain that? Kathryn Freeman really is a literary goddess.
‘A Little Christmas Faith’ had everything I could have wanted within a book, and then some. A storyline so jam-packed that Faith Watkins’ Christmas trees would look like miniature figurines. A storyline which contained some of the most fiery, strong and memorable characters I have ever come across in a Christmas book. A storyline which is likely to put fiery in your belly, love in your heart, and a huge smile on your face.

Another Christmas read to get me in the spirit of Christmas. I need it this year! A Little Christmas Faith by Kathryn Freeman, is the first of her books which I have read. A nice Christmas feel good book. I liked the characters, liked the setting and the plot. A nice cosy Christmas read.

Faith is a big fan of Christmas. She's just opened The Old Mill, her own boutique hotel, and has decorated the place enthusiastically. Faith hopes she will soon have a hotel filled with cheerful guests. Her first guest, Adam, is sad and lonely though. He's booked a room at the hotel to escape Christmas. He doesn't like the festivities at all. This is something Faith can't easily accept, but she likes a challenge. Will she be able to make him believe in the magic of Christmas again?
Faith is trying to give her business a good start, but her first guest is a difficult one. Adam isn't at The Old Mill to celebrate anything, he's there to stay away from the festivities. He wants to be alone and doesn't count on the lively Faith to become a part of his daily routine. Will he enjoy his stay at The Old Mill even though it isn't what he expected when he booked it and will Christmas be another horrible holiday for him or will Faith manage to make him enjoy it?
A Little Christmas Faith is a wonderful romantic Christmas story. Faith is kindhearted, caring and incredibly sweet. She's there for everyone and taking care of her hotel guests is the perfect profession for her. The Old Mill and Faith are a great match and seeing how much she belongs there put a big smile on my face. She's hard to resist and can melt any frozen heart, which is what Adam could use the most. He's being consumed by grief, something this lovely gentle man doesn't deserve. The lively Faith is exactly what he needs and I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough to find out if she'd make his Christmas better and heal what's broken inside of him. I love beautiful romance and A Little Christmas Faith definitely put a spell on me.
Kathryn Freeman's writing has a nice easy flow that always grabs me straight away. Her love stories are original with plenty of surprising elements. A Little Christmas Faith has the most amazing setting. The colorful descriptions of The Old Mill are making the place come to life incredibly well. Kathryn Freeman manages to create a gorgeous atmosphere by getting every fabulous detail perfectly right. A Little Christmas Faith is a sparkling, charming, festive and endearing Christmas story. I really enjoyed reading this heartwarming book.

Rather disappointing, an otherwise interesting story with a VERY ugly part.
Why pretend it's okay for a busy-body to answer a man's phone and then tell the woman caller where the owner is when it's obvious he had been avoiding her. In my book that's rank interference, definitely NOT okay. It's NOT the man's fault that he's upset at the unwanted invasion of his privacy although in the story it's scripted to work out okay. Does the author believe that the end justifies the means, because that can justify anything no matter how immoral provided the end is sufficiently remote and supposedly praiseworthy.
Rant over. If you're not worried about the serious lack of morality, then you'll probably enjoy this book.

Oh my, I feel a bit bad being the one who didn't like the book as much as other readers..
But honestly, this was just boring. Too predictable (and I am really terribly disappointed that she didn't make any use of Adam's cooking skills! The way she described them in the beginning I was sure that the cooks of the hotel will somehow disappear and Adam has to come to rescue!) and it was all so (too) smooth going.
I was hoping for a nice read to fit the Season but this was just a disappointment..

This is such a lovely Christmas read. It gave me all of those warm fuzzy feelings but still had a bit of a mystery/ edge to it because of Adam’s past! I loved the characters and how it made you feel like you knew them. I also liked how it was written and the pace of it. plus an epilogue that made me very happy!

If you are looking for that special Christmas Romance this year, the one that will leave you happy and sad, giddy and teary, with a lasting good feeling – then you need to pick up Kathryn Freeman’s A Little Christmas Faith… now. It’s obvious that I love romances set around the holiday – why would I have a blog devoted to only Christmas Romances otherwise… but this one is going on my automatic re-read list for each year because it’s not only that good, it also touches the heart in ways that leave a lasting impression.
It’s time to open the doors on Faith’s dream. Her own hotel, nestled in the beautiful Lake District is finally opening after some much needed tender loving care… and an explosion of Christmas decorations. She’s given up so much for this dream, but what she hopes will be the rewards are well worth it all. Her parents and her sisters are firmly behind her in this endeavor. In fact, her parents are staying at the hotel these first few days… and it won’t be long before other family members start making appearances. Faith is excited, nervous, and a bundle of nervous energy much like her two small rescue dogs at the moment. But her first paying guest is about to appear, her dream is really coming true.
Every year now at Christmas time Adam does a disappearing act. He avoids the holiday as much as humanly possible, not answering phone calls from one particular stubborn person, and usually finds an out of the way spot to “vacation” in during the days counting down to Christmas Day. Adam has his reasons for these actions. In his mind this is the only way to survive this day, and his memories. He’d been given the recommendation of this newly opened hotel off the beaten path in the Lake District and felt it would be far enough away to give him some peace, if possible. Unfortunately for Adam, he’s landed right in the middle of a hotel that is bursting with Christmas in every form possible.
I don’t want to give away the plot on this one for I truly believe you’ll melt with emotions as you slowly unveil Adam’s truth. Having said that – Faith and Adam make an amazing couple. Watching Faith slowly work some Christmas magic on Adam was a joy to behold, knowing how much he didn’t want to, but did these things for her anyways says so much about Adam’s natural character.
A Little Christmas Faith is full of all those small touches that make a novel memorable for me. Full of lively secondary characters, this one will pull at your emotions, give you a few chuckles and may have you believing in the power of love once again. I’d highly recommend this story for any Romance reader, no matter the genre you enjoy most. Give yourself a Christmas treat this year – it’s one you’ll be reopening for years to come.

A Little Christmas Faith by Kathryn Freeman is another lovely Christmas read to make you feel all warm inside. Faith has always dreamed of running her own hotel but opening it just before Christmas wasn't quite what she had planned! She absolutely loves Christmas though and has gone all out to make the hotel as festive as possible. Her parents are coming to stay and her first paying guest has checked in. Adam is tall and very handsome and Faith is immediately attracted to him. Adam however, hates Christmas with a passion to match Faith's love of Christmas. The book follows Faith and Adam, as well as her sulky niece Chloe, during the days leading up to Christmas.
I've never really fancied going away for Christmas, though New Year appeals, but after reading this book I could be tempted. Only if I could go to Faith's lovely hotel and get snowed in though. From worrying about having next to no guests over Christmas, the hotel fills up with a variety of guests due to some unexpectedly heavy snowfall. Living by the sea, we hardly ever get much snow so I always love the idea of being out in the country somewhere with the snow blanketing the ground and preferably with a roaring fire and a whisky to hand. Kathryn Freeman described the scene so well that I could easily picture Faith's cosy hotel in its picturesque surroundings, with all the Christmas lights twinkling away. She created such a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
And talking of warm, the relationship between Faith and Adam certainly saw sparks of attraction flying between them. I could completely see why Faith was drawn to Adam - and him to her - but with neither of them really in a place to start a relationship, it was hard to see how this could progress much beyond a friendship. I had to laugh at poor Adam, someone who hated Christmas, finding himself completely caught up in it albeit rather unwillingly. "How ironic that he'd come here to escape Christmas, and ended up dressed as sodding Father Christmas, surrounded by fairy lights, bells and a herd of flashing reindeer." Along with Faith, I was very curious to know exactly why Adam hated Christmas so much and my heart went out to him as his story began to be revealed.

4.5 Stars!
Cute, cute, cute! I have read a handful of books about starting a new Hotel/Inn/B&B and I am finding that I really like that story plot. It reminds me of The Gilmore Girls when Lorelei was starting her own Inn, The Dragonfly Inn and she did the test run with her friends and parents. It makes for fun reading! This one is crafted very well. There are a few little things happening in the background that all come together perfectly.
Very good character development! I really liked Faith. I think I would have liked her for real as a person. Sorry, I do that with characters LOL... I try to think of them as real people living near me and could I be friends with them. And I think I could be friends with Faith! I wasn't too sure about Adam, he was very stand-off-ish at first (but he was supposed to be) but then of course he won my heart. I think it first happened fairly early in the story - when he helped and kind of bonded with Chloe.
Oh, and that brings me to Chloe, Faith's teenage niece. When she was first introduced I thought "Oh no, and here's the teen angst." but again - she won my heart!! There are also a lot of minor characters that have great spotlights in the story. Kathryn ties them all together very nicely.
A fun, sweet, endearing Christmas story that will win your heart too! This is my first one by this author. I had actually never heard of her before, but Kathryn Freeman has quite a few other books out there. I would definitely love to read some more of hers.
* There is a bit of sex in here but nothing overly graphic! It is all tastefully done.

Cute, cute, cute! I have read a handful of books about starting a new Hotel/Inn/B&B and I am finding that I really like that story plot. It reminds me of The Gilmore Girls when Lorelei was starting her own Inn, The Dragonfly Inn and she did the test run with her friends and parents. It makes for fun reading! This one is crafted very well. There are a few little things happening in the background that all come together perfectly.

A Little Christmas Faith by Kathyn Freeman is a 2017 Choc-lit publication.
Faith’s dream of owning and operating a hotel has come true. It’s Christmas and the hotel is now open for business decorated to maximize the holiday spirit… and she’s gotten her first guests- never mind that they are her own parents.
Enter Adam- her first authentic guest- a big lumberjack of a man who wants nothing more than to ignore Christmas…
Unfortunately, he’s come to the wrong place to escape the holidays….
I don’t mind a bit of the sunshine/grumpy trope, just so long as either side is not too heavy handed- and in this case it was mostly balanced, with Adam coming on a bit too strong on occasion, but nothing too over the top.
I had a bit of a wrong impression going into this one, though. I was expecting something a little lighter and cleaner- like Hallmark Movie clean- but there was some heaviness here I wasn’t anticipating, with a smattering of language and sexual content. (My presumption- so my bad on that front)
I also struggled with the messaging concerning Faith’s teenage niece, Chloe. Having a boyfriend is not a measure of one’s self-worth, and a great teaching moment here was missed. I know this is not a story one should over analyze, but it was a niggle that wouldn't stop worrying me.
The subject matter that comes later in the book is quite emotional and because the details came so deep into the story the heaviness overshadowed the sudden reverse back to lighthearted holiday events and perhaps put a damper on the warm and fuzzies I was longing for.
Overall, I wanted to love this one. I think I’ve read this author before, some time back, and enjoyed her work, but this one didn’t work for me as well, unfortunately.

This book… I’m not going to hold back, it was just gorgeous! I read it in a single sitting on Saturday afternoon, and when I finally emerged at the other end my first thought was “that was just perfect”. If you made a list of all the elements that make Christmas what it is, you’ll find them all in this book (yes, even sprouts – but cooked rather nicely with pancetta!) – from the oversized tree and reindeer family in the hotel reception, the visit from a slightly reluctant Father Christmas, to the accidental putting together of a complete nativity scene on Christmas Day (so cleverly done!). It’s a story gives you a real inner glow – complete with a really heart-breaking back story that slowly emerges and the perfect developing love affair at its centre.
The characters are just beautifully drawn. Faith was my best friend from the very beginning, but I must give a special mention for Adam – a giant of a man who can allow a baby to fall asleep on his chest, still look ripped with a fluffy dog under each arm, and who has such a massive heart and capacity for love and caring. Every character is just beautifully drawn – including the lesser ones like Faith’s lovely parents, young Chloe on reception with her unfortunate customer service failings and lovely little story thread of her own, even the horrendous Mr Bannister, the Italian chefs and Gabriel the sheep farmer.
This is one of those warm cuddles of a book, and the writing is so smooth and effortless that it completely whisks you away into the Christmas world of the author’s creation. I so enjoyed this one… can you tell?

It was so easy to fall in love with this story mainly because the characters were so engaging. I also have to admit to feeling quite emotional at certain points of the story there were definitely a few tears in my eyes! It really was lovely to feel an emotional connection to both the story and characters.
The hotel that Faith owns sounds fantastic and with me always wanting to visit the Lake District I really wish it was real so I could visit! I loved Faith's determination to make her hotel a success and I was rooting for her all the way through! Adam has depth to his character but with an aching vulnerability that surfaced as the story progresses. I do have to mention that there are also some lovely minor characters that really make a great addition to the story too. I especially liked Chloe's character even with her moody temperament!

I’m a great fan of Kathryn Freeman so it was a real treat to learn she had written a book for the festive season. A Little Christmas Faith is set in a boutique hotel in the Lake District. Faith Watkins has realised a dream; to own and run her own hotel. The Old Mill is newly opened and it’s ten days before Christmas. Besides her parents (who have booked in for a few days to show their support) at the moment she is expecting only one other guest.
Adam Hunter hates Christmas. He shuns gatherings and detests trees and tinsel. For him it’s all about taking himself out of circulation until it’s all over. Christmas brings back memories of a time which changed his life forever; memories over the last three years he has tried unsuccessfully to bury. However little does he realise his stay at the Old Mill is about to change his world completely.
Kathryn has written a wonderful love story. I took to Faith and Adam straight away. Faith practical, tough and compassionate and attractive, sexy six foot four Adam, whose sad history made you want to wrap your arms around him. But what makes the book even more entertaining are the support characters – Nip and Tuck Faith’s mischievous Cavachons, Chloe her teenage niece, her close knit family – Mum, Dad and sisters Hope and Charity. And once the snow begins to fall and unexpected guests arrive things become even more entertaining. A definite read for all those who love a festive feel good romance.

This is a book crammed full of good things- Christmas in abundance, several strands to the story and some great humorous touches. You can really picture the setting and the hotel and I loved the structure of the story with each chapter being a day on the countdown to Christmas. Published by Choc Lit, it heavily features the hero's point of view which I loved and thought it really told you the story of Faith and Adam. It is a good, escapist read but there is nothing wrong with that!
Faith's family are a huge part of her life and I liked getting to know them all in the story, especially her recalcitrant niece and her affectionate parents. If I'm honest, my absolute favourites turned out to be her two unruly dogs, Nip and Tuck who I just wanted to scoop up, they were so full of life. There are some well-drawn characters, all with their own flaws and insecurities, but above all, lots of heart. It's a great Christmas read. I've read quite a few this year and I would say this is one of the most enjoyable I've found. I really got to care about what was going to happen to them all.
In short: A festive romance, brimming with life.

Am descoperit această bijuterie literară în plimbările mele la biblioteca orașului și sinopsisul m-a cucerit instant. O carte scurtă despre Crăciun, iubire și speranță – ce ți-ai putea dori mai mult?
Faith, o mare iubitoare de Crăciun, își deschide un hotel într-o zonă de poveste. Primul ei client însă este un mister total: urăște sărbătorile, este morocănos, dar totuși are un farmec aparte. De aici pornește o poveste fermecătoare între ei, condimentată cu momente dulci-amărui, multă scorțișoară și clinchet de zurgălăi.
Mi-a plăcut enorm! Cartea nu a fost prea siropoasă, iar deși are câteva clișee, am simțit-o ca pe o îmbrățișare caldă într-o zi friguroasă de iarnă. ❄️ Ce m-a impresionat și mai mult este faptul că povestea continuă și după Crăciun, iar autoarea ne oferă o privire asupra vieții personajelor și în noul an.
O lectură ușoară, perfectă pentru luna decembrie! 🎅🏻💫 O recomand cu toată inima oricui dorește o doză de căldură și magie de sărbători. 💖
