Ghosts of Landover

It's a Wonderful Death

Rate this book

When ghosts are your clients, they’ll work you to death.

In 1993, Agnes Dundle died when she was poisoned at an office Christmas party. All she wants for Christmas today is to know who did it.

And Carly is the medium for the job, along with her haunted house, her crazy friends, and her annoying ghost-of-an-ex-husband as her partner.

Although Agnes has no idea what happened to her 25 years ago, she’s pretty sure her Christmas murderer had to be one of her boyfriends. They all worked for the same company and she was having a hard time choosing between the two men.

She wants Carly’s help to figure out who her murderer is, but she also wants to know who she should have chosen. The boyfriend who didn’t kill her was obviously her soul mate.

In the process of investigating, Carly channels with the ghost to relive every 90s moment from the party, while also visiting the suspects in the present day. And she sees that Agnes’s death had a profound effect on everyone in the office. They turned their lives around because of her.

Still, tis the season to catch a murderer, no matter where they fall on the naughty list now. And Carly learns the hard way that the true meaning of Christmas can sometimes be found when ghosts of a Christmas past meet the skeletons in a present closet.

Although this is a part of the Ghosts of Landover Mystery series, you do not need to be familiar with the other books to enjoy this novella.

Mistakes and regrets

A great plot that spans a number of years with characters that really do display the way things were and are. Especially the ghost who acts the way that women thought 50 years ago.
She was tired of decorating Christmas trees and just wanted to come home and relax. No such luck! Her boyfriend was by the front door with a humongous tree. An early Christmas present! Now she had another tree to decorate! Her self pity was interrupted by the arrival of a ghost who wants to know who killed her at her office Christmas party and which of the two men she was involved with was her soulmate. Was it the drunk boss who was already married? Was it the accounts colleague who was interested in video games and still acting like a teen? Was it the jealous saleswoman who left her dying in the toilets and resented that she had the most sales award. Again! Or was it someone else? As she delves into how the death of the young woman affected their lives she starts to unravel the cause of death and by whom. Will the ghost be satisfied with the answer?

Etta Faire is a fabulous paranormal cozey mystery writer with a a history of murder. Carly Taylor is the mane character in this fabulous series she's vibrant, inquisitive and is enjoying solving cold cases for ghosts kind of quirky don't you think, I think it's great each character in the small town Carly lives in is a little colorful and quirky especially her ex and the terms of her living arrangement only Ms. Faire couldn't put such an array of terms for an inheritance housing agreement and the charming array of characters wanting their cold case murders solved by a new medium .fabulous characters draw you in, an enticing mystery of intrigue, mayhem and always a murder with a plot keeping you entranced turning page after page until you've reached the unexpected and climatic conclusion. Acquire " It's a Wonderful Death " so you yourself can enjoy it as much as I have. Kat

I actually received this as a promo from the author but that fact in no way affects my review. If I didn't like it, then I would be honest. However, this was a whole lot of fun to read. It’s a fun little novella that gives you a taste of the characters in Etta Faire's paranormal mystery series that involves a medium who can solve murders by entering a ghost's "body" and reliving some of the events that brought about their death. She is also aided, or maybe hindered, by the ghost of her ex. I read this in one go and I am looking for the next book so that I can enjoy more of Ms. Faire's creations.

I found this book a little strange to start with, then, very soon got so interested I just had to finish it & thoroughly enjoyed it. Carla is a medium who can help ghosts, she even has to put up with her Kate husband being around the whole time! Agnes comes to ask her to help solve her murder from several years ago & it is really interesting how Carly manages that. A side story in the shop she works in is that she is able to help a young student when she gives her a message from her father. The student knows it’s a true thing due to the use of his nickname for her. There are several amusing exchanges with her dead husband along the way.

Although I’m not usually into paranormal books, I really enjoyed this one. Carly is a medium who can see and communicate with ghosts, normally for pay. This Christmas a ghost names Agnes finds her and asks her to find out who murdered her at her office party in the 90’s, as well as which boyfriend she should have chosen. It was interesting to follow Carly’s sleuthing to talk to each of the party goers. But everyone can’t be innocent, can they? I received a free copy of this book and write this review voluntarily.

It's a Wonderful Death was a delightful book to read, in so many ways. Carly Taylor is a medium who see's and talks to dead people. Carly just inherited a Victorian House from her late ex-husband and his ghost as well. Now Carly has to help Agnes Dundle a ghost find out who killed her at a work Christmas Party. As Carly follows the clues it becomes clear that the more she learns the more of her coworkers look good for the murder. From her Boss to two coworkers to a janitor which one did the dirty deed. This might be a Christmas Novella in the series; but it was a great read.

A medium who deals mainly with the ghosts - The ghosts come to her and want to understand their death.

When Agnes was poisoned 30 years ago was it one of her two boyfriends? It was a Christmas party that didn't end happily. Can Carly work out what happened ... and who the real love of Agnes's life (and death) was?

Nice light mystery

The continuing series or Carly and her friends both real and ghosts. In this book, Carly helps a ghost, Agnes, figure out who murdered her at a Christmas Party. I really enjoyed the outcomes in this book as they go beyond solving the mystery.
