Winter is settling in to the city. It has brought with it holiday decorations, pumpkin spice everything, and the yearly roost of crows. It also brought Corbin.
Anna-Claire Victor is a writer. And a violinist. And a serial parental phone call ignorer. Her life is a routine of a menial cubicle job by day, a struggling string quartet by night, and an aspiring writer in all the moments in between.
Claire doesn't know where Corbin came from, what he does, or why he seems so interested in her. All she does know is that she is drawn to him. He is a light in her boring rut of a life. If only she could get past this nagging feeling that he's hiding something...
Mary Sneddon has been an avid reader since childhood. Her favorite genre is fantasy and, from a young age, she has written fantasy stories of her own. She also enjoys drawing and painting and for some time turned her attention to comics from prose and back again. She currently holds a Bachelors in Art Education as well as a Bachelors in Art with a concentration in painting from McNeese State University and an Associates in Commercial Art from SOWELA Technical Community College. She has worked in the trenches of retail, the perilous battlefields of afterschool care, as a school librarian, and an elementary school art teacher. She currently spends her days as a High School English teacher. Mary spends her time at home with her husband making art on her computer, lazing about on tumblr, reading comics, and watching cartoons. Preferably curled up with a hazelnut latte in her batman pajamas with her miniature schnauzer.
This short, cute little romance was a much needed pick-me-up. The easily flustered Claire and the just-as-out-of-his-element Corbin are made for each other and I loved reading how they made each other's lives better. Their relationship is only improved by Claire's trusty group of friends who are never without a witty or supporting word.
And who can forget the tea shop or Corbin's surprising secret?
Roost is a modern day fairy tale that's sure to put a smile on your face and warm your heart. A perfect book for the winter season.
