In Kandrakar, located somewhere where time and space do not exist, people are concerned about the wall which separates the evil from the good. After 1000 years of nothing the wall starts to weaken. The Oracle therefore assigns five girls as the Guardians of the wall. And that's how it begins...
Elisabetta Gnone is an Italian writer. In April 2001, she co-created the Italian comic/magazine W.I.T.C.H. with Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa. The publication was later made into the television series of the same name. Gnone also wrote the children's trilogy Fairy Oak: Il segreto delle gemelle (The Secret of the Twins), L'incanto del buio (The Spell of Darkness), and Il potere della luce (The Power of Light). She expanded the Fairy Oak Universe with four more books, "The four mysteries": "Captain Grisam's love", "Shirley's wizarding days", "Flox smiles in autumn", and "Good-bye Fairy Oak".
W.I.T.C.H. comics is my childhood, I remember my grandmother bought me the 1St comic issue of the series, and that's the start of collecting them, it also inspires me through my arts and drawings.
I read an article that Yen Press announced that they would be reprinting the original comics with new translations and would be releasing the first half of the comic series on Holloween day. They would release a new Graphic Novel every 4 months.
So now, I'm rereading the W.I.T.C. H. comics that's been sitting on my bookshelf for years and I'll read the issues that I don't have through online.
I just did a poorly-advised, nightlong reread binge, and boy does this series have more issues than I remember (the constant parade of mediocre boys, suggestive portrayal of young teenage protagonists, Will's lack of personality, etc etc etc). It's still pure nostalgia fuel for me, and I love a lot of the art and designs, but this series is on the top shelf for "series I grew out of".
My favourite childhood comics, my dad bought it for me and my sister one day and I was absolutely tickled. Sadly after one or two books, we couldn't find it anymore in our small city. Would like to read it again!
The tv series was a nice introduction to my favourite genre, adventure and fantasy; I was ecstatic to find that there was a comic book series which the tv series based their episodes on. I read it and don't get me wrong I enjoyed the first two arcs, where there was actual character development and that secondary characters did not wander off never to be found again (Nigel, Stephen and Luke). I found the storylines, later on, to be inconsistent, for example in arc four we find out Taranee is going to be a professional dancer, later in arc nine she's an athlete, surely we should have seen Taranee training for to become an athlete. Another example would be in arc 3 where Taranee went on strike because she felt like the Oracle was using them, yet we as the readers did not see the build-up to this, in fact, Taranee defended the Oracle against the other girls when they criticised him.

This my childhood. It all started here - my drawing, making friends at school, fashion inspirations, and being fascinated with reading. The reason for my daily visits to the bookstore, and developing my budget skills lol. Irma Lair is still my favorite, I never thought that I would really become a fangirl like her. I may have issues with some characters but the nostalgia is enough to really love this. I feel that I accomplish something in life by finishing this series, I never found my collection after moving. That's why it took so long for me to know the ending.
I have been reading these comics since the age of 7. I used to get them every month from my local book store. I am originally from Ukraine and used to read them in Ukrainian and have still got some of my copies to this day! I am now 19 and I am currently watching the series, which I love just as much as I did when I was 6/7. An amazing comic, perfect no matter what age you are!
This was a really big thing in my childhood. I remember religiously collecting the comics, and I remember loving the TV series as well. Reading it now as an adult was a sweet reminder to childhood. Really good. I read a lot of the volumes at the different parts of the year .
È della mia infanzia... una storia pazzesca! Ho adorsto le witch e irma soprattutto. La storia è frizzante e fresca come una boccata d'aria, molto leggera e divertente
