In novels with a stud there is always a Senior Martial Brother like this:
In the early stages of the novel, his innate talent is high, his cultivation is good, his appearance is handsome, and he has an intelligent, cute younger Martial Sister as a fiancée.
In the middle stages of the novel, he is caught unprepared and defeated by a young disciple (the protagonist) in the sect who’s hardly remarkable at all. From then on, he falls from his godly altar and loses his brilliance. Even his young Martial Sister leaves him for someone else.
In the late stages of the novel, he continues to turn dark, going down the Demonic Path and becoming the major villainous boss. However, the protagonist still ruthlessly defeats him and his soul is eternally sealed.
Once Qin Mo opened his eyes, he discovered that he had become this Senior Martial Brother.
I'd rate this a 2.5. While technically a transmigration novel, the transmigration has very little impact on the story, which is very weird. The universe is also heavily based on cultivators trying to murder each other for stupid offenses, so it's a little unclear how they manage to maintain sects or even a society. There's also a lot of increasingly boring traipsing through various secret realms fighting people and monsters. Also the yandere ML goes from "Qin Mo has paid attention to someone else! I shall use my Demonic Bitchslap on that person and as revenge on Qin Mo... make him eat his icky vegetables!" (which was cute and hilarious to be honest) to... straight-up raping Qin Mo, not that many chapters later. Ugh. The development of their actual romantic relationship was left in the unwritten space between the end of the novel and the extras.
The best thing I can say about this novel is that at least I finished it (after quite a bit of skimming but still). The characters were flat, the motivations were murky, the romance was unsatisfactory since there were large chunks where the main pairing weren't even in the same setting, the plot was random and all over the place. It just wasn't good and I would not recommend this book to anyone. But I guess every author has to start somewhere!
Summary: Qin Mo is transmigrated into a book he read where his character becomes a demon cultivator after being defeated by his shixiong who is the protagonist. When he transmigrates, he arrives right when the protagonist is found and enters the sect but things are immediately different. The protagonist quickly falls in love with Qin Mo, they enter a secret realm then they enter another realm then they enter another realm then they enter a demon realm then they go back to the original realm.
This was a fun piece of smut, which I really enjoyed at the beginning, though I thought it got a bit messy at the end. The main characters kept finding higher realms and meeting side characters that would only appear for a couple of chapters. It reminded me a bit of The Legendary a Master's Wife in that regard, though not as repetitive or drawn out.
I found the main couple's relationship a bit frustrating, it seemed hot and then cold for no reason. I prefer characters to be fully in love by the end of the story, but in this book, it feels like Qin Mo gives in to the other person's love rather than actually falling in love with him. I'm not sure how the reader is supposed to root for that kind of relationship.
That said, I really enjoyed the translation and the beginning of this story. It's unfortunate that I had to power through the end.
Sebenarnya ceritanya lumayan menarik tapi entah kenapa capek bacanya. ML sibuk banget tiap chapter nya kalau nggak ngelawan sesama cultivator, ngelawan demonic cultivator, ngelawan magical beast, dll. Gitu terus berulang2. Jadi berasa kurang tuntas, nanggung dan endingnya berasa dipaksa biar cepet2 selesai
I enjoyed Yandere character so that wasn't the problem I walk in knowing it's going to be non-con so that too wasn't a surprise. The jittery writing and plot... I can tolorate it.. but that ending... that ending I do not like...
Maybe I should start from saying that I’ve dropped this novel before, and finished it only after some time for my emotions to calm down. That’s why, I think that you need to be in a specific state or mood to read this novel.
I liked how it started, really liked. The middle was unexpected and mostly not pleasant to read. That can be the reason it dropped. Somehow, the ML and MC didn’t understand each other almost until the very ending. This is the source of most problems and tragedies here. Unfortunately.
Still, maybe it’s only me, but my heart pained for the ML, especially closer the the end. I’ve almost cried. Yes, he did many bad things, some things might be not forgiven at all. But he went though so much, and my heart really aching.
Im thankful for such an ending, for cute fox and second chance. The extras are just right for my hurting souls.
As for recommendations… I don’t know. See the warning and tags and decide yourself. This is not a novel for everyone.
