Loving three men at once? Sure, it's a fantasy... but I never dreamed it could come true.
When I witness something nobody should have seen, all I want to do is get out of dodge and start a new life. Luckily the mob feels the same way, and buys my silence with a suitcase full of cash and an order to leave.
Immediately.
But leaving town is not the craziest thing that happens to me. When a blizzard overcomes my car, I find myself rescued by three mysterious military mountain men: each one hotter than the last. Sure, I'm snowed in with gorgeous guys, but I never thought things would get this... close. And if there's nowhere to escape to, I'm tempted to see where this goes. Can I win over the surly one? Snuggle with the softie? Seduce the s*xiest? Do they want to play too?
But the game's up when there's someone after us, and I know my secret must have gotten out. It'll risk all our lives, as well as the first happiness I've felt in... forever.
Her Military Mountain Men is a 53k word novel with snow-melting steamy scenes and a suspenseful side story. No cheating, of course, and an HEA that is sure to satisfy.
For a first time author this wasn’t bad. It truly wasn’t. The reason for the low rating was how very predictable the story was. How “acceptable” everyone was of everything. I didn’t feel angst. I didn’t feel excitement.
I missed a lot of character building. I missed a lot of back ground information. I simply missed descriptions of how they looked. I guess I needed more depth ( in basically everything).
The story was very traditionally build up. You knew what to come, what to expect, but on a more positive note the writing had a nice flow to it. Not my personally favourite, but it did keep me interesting enough to finish it. The sexy part were at times very hot, but also slightly awkward. Or maybe I simply didn’t find the dialogue that sexy? That could also be the case.
The men also weren’t very “alpha”, and it seemed to me like their military background “training” was non-existent. Like the author didn’t really do her “homework”.🤷🏻♀️
Read: 11/12/2018 Genre: RH/mountain men/military 1st rating: 2 stars Cover: 2 stars Will I recommend: Meh.
A why choose, forced proximity romance. The plot started off well and the characters were interesting, but I just didn't buy the dynamic between them all, including declaring being in love after one week of meeting.
Before picking up my second read from this author, I made sure to read the entire blurb so I knew what I was going in to. And I figured now I've read one and have an idea of Veronica Wade's writing style, I know what I'm getting myself into. However, I kind of wish I hadn't bothered. Luckily the book is only 53k words long, which definitely was a plus.
Can I win over the surly one? Snuggle with the softie? Seduce the s*xiest? Do they want to play too?
Even after reading the book I can honestly say, that I don't know who's who! She seems equally attracted to them, she snuggles with all of them, they all soften up near her, and they're all surly at one point or another. Except making it seem like she's hooking up with 3 of the 7 dwarfs in a modern world, that description really doesn't distinguish or even help.
Sarah is an unhappy waitress in a restaurant where the Russian Mobs' presence and business are conducted while on the premise. Apparently they're all okay with this so long as the tips don't suffer. One night Sarah has a customer that has constantly continued to sexually harass her and she snaps and smacks him. Her boss sees this and immediately comes over (it's assumed) to fire her, however, her saving grace is none other than the boss of the mob comes to her defence. Sarah's boss tells her to take a break and cool off, so she goes outside. About the time she was getting ready to get back inside, she hears some voices arguing, so she decides to wait it out in hopes it would be over quickly, but then she hears some pops and knows exactly what happened.
Sarah, obviously, can't keep quiet and is discovered and told to keep her mouth shut. Her boss notices how distraught she is and tells her to go home, but before she can, Sarah is approached by a detective about what happened. She quickly points out that she didn't see anything, but he already knew she had been on break outside. Sarah gets away from him and returns back home to find the mob boss on her doorstep, offering a way out of her current situation: keep quiet and take some cool cash and disappear, don't talk to anyone - or die.
Sarah takes the cash and starts to travel towards the only family she has, her foster sister. Because a normal meet-cute is too easy, Sarah gets stuck in a snow blizzard and is rescued by a very handsome stranger on a snow mobile. Of course, there's no other option than him taking her back to his house, so they together can write out the bad weather. Him, Sarah - oh and his 2 house mates. Thanks to instant lust and chemistry, and no jealousy at all, they all get together with Sarah and agree to share her in an open relationship. Sarah is over the moon, because it's every woman's dream, right? Oh and the secret and the cash isn't shared, because it doesn't seem important to her.
I had a really hard time connecting with any of the characters! The plot was predictable and the only thing that's really detailed are the sexy times. The rest are glossed over. I would love to know how the men really felt, when they discover Sarah's deep dark secret. I would have liked to know what made each of them tick, and what it was they liked about Sarah - apart from their sexual adventures.
There were a lot of missed opportunities to explore:
* What was the relationship between Sarah and her sister? How often did they catch up? How was their shared upbringing? * The background of the policeman who interrogates Sarah after the murder. * How did Sarah come under the protection of the Russian Mafia? Because surely she must be, for the leader to stand up for her when she's sexually harassed. * How much money did Sarah receive? * If Sarah owns a "beater" of a car, how did it make it across country? * Sarah never actually witnesses the murder in the alley. She only sees a dead body and the story seems to assume that Grigore is the one that killed the man. There were other voices in the alley at the time of the murder... who were the others? * If she's fearing so much for her life, why is she telling her sister everything over the radio, where others could be listening? To me that's a huge gap, because I really feel the author should have thought of that.
Details matter to this reader and with all that in mind, I think this book will be more for people who just want a quick and sexy read, plot be damned!
4 1/2 Stars! Loads of action and twists (large & small) that makes this story an easy & intriguing read!
For adults only (18+ years) Contains subject matter that may be a trigger, or offensive to some, including: adult language, steamy adult scenes (MF, MFMM) and violence (fighting, kidnapping, blackmail, murder, death, etc.). If any of these types of situations are a trigger or offensive to you, then this may not be the story for you.
This is a medium length reverse harem romance with a good flow and minimal grammatical errors (less than 25 out of approximately 53,000). I really enjoyed the plot and it gets better as it proceeds.
Here is a highlevel overview of how the story bgins:
Sarah is a waitress in a restaurant that ignores the Russian Mobs' presence and business conducted while on the premise, so she receives a lot more money and good tips. She was raised in the foster system, so she works as hard as she can to be able to afford a small apartment by herself, and stop living with too many other kids or roommates.
One night Sarah has a customer that has constantly continued to sexually harass her and she snaps and smacks him. Her boss sees this and goes over to either get onto her or fire her when the boss of the mob comes to her defense. Sarah's boss tells her to take a break and cool off, so she goes and sits down on some boxes out back. About the time she was getting ready to return, she hears some voices arguing, so she decides to wait it out in hopes it would be over quickly, but then she hears some pops and knows exactly what happened.
Even though Sarah knows it is one of the worst things she can do, she lets out an involuntary yelp when she hears the shots. This brings over one of the men and she realizes that it had somehow gotten worse, since the man that had committed the shooting was the son of the mob boss that had come to her defense. Sarah knew that she was now in real danger of taking a bullet to the head. She can hear sirens but who knows if they were for here. Then the son tells her to go back inside, so she does as fast as her feet would carry her.
Her boss sees how upset she is and tells her to go home, but before she can, Sarah is approached by a detective about what happened and what she saw. She is quick to point out that she didn't see anything, but he already knew she had been on break outside. D*mn ... then her boss interjected when the detective tried to force her to go downtown for more questioning, force her to surrender her personal contact information, etc. Then while the two of them were arguing, she slipped away ... only to find the mob boss on her doorstep offering a way out of her current situation for something she was going to do anyway, which was refuse to tell the police anything or testify.
Sarah takes the cash and starts to travel towards the only family she truly has, her foster sister. She doesn't count on getting stuck in a blizzard that could kill her and her rescue cat, Bingo, after the snow prevented her phone, GPS, etc. from working. This causes her to turn on incorrect roads before coming to a point in the road where she can't continue, where she is rescued by a very handsome man on a snow mobile. Although reluctant to trust a stranger, he finally put her at ease, plus if she wanted to survive she needed to take a chance .... when she arrives at his log cabin, it is very large and there are two other large men who doesn't exactly welcome her warmly.
I am going to stop there as I do not want to accidentally reveal any spoilers or twists.
The bad: The conclusion/resolution of this story comes quickly and ends just as fast.
There were a lot of missed opportunities to explore relationships with Sarah and her sister, the background of the policeman who interrogates Sarah after the murder, Sarah's relationship between the Russian Mafia, her boss at the bar and Grigore. These relationships and background information would probably have transformed this into a great story.
How much money did Sarah receive? Details matter. To me, at least.
If Sarah owns a "beater" of a car, how did it make it across country?
The ugly: The "Military Men" referred to in the title don't have much personality of their own. I found it odd that the blurb for this book has the following: "Can I win over the surly one? Snuggle with the softie? Seduce the s*xiest?" I've finished the book and I'm still unsure over which man is which. I think that all 3 men have all 3 qualities at one time or another.
Sarah never witnesses the murder in the alley. She only sees a dead body and the story seems to assume that Grigore is the one that killed the man. There were other voices in the alley at the time of the murder (location 60).
The rescue in the snowstorm (no spoiler!) is not explained. How in the world did one person execute a rescue that seemed impossible?
The verdict: This book was okay, but I was left with more questions than answers. It's pretty well proofread with only 3 errors that I found. It will probably interest fans of romance RH/menage stories if you take it at face value and want an easy read.

Sarah was a waitress at a bar in LA, when she ‘d had enough one shift of sexual harassment, one last man slapped her behind, and she punched him, her boss told her to go out side and cool off. While outside, behind the dumpster and and a bunch of boxes, she heard a gun shot. She jumped up and looked at the son of the Russian Bratva, he was standing over a dead man. The police wanted Sarah to testify about the shooting, she didn’t see anything only heard it. But any one who talked about the Bratva usually didn’t live long. After telling the police she didn’t see anything, she slipped out, and headed home. The man who shot the man was waiting at her home. He had a suitcase full of money, he wanted to give Sarah, but first he wanted to tell her why, he shot the man. The man was forcing under aged girls to work in his brothels. They had previously asked him to quit, he decided not to, they forced his hand. The money was for Sarah to not talk to the police about the shooting and to help her relocate to a different to a location tonight. Sarah loaded her cat, Bingo what possessions she needed in her car and left as soon as possible that night. She was headed for her foster sister Audrey in the east coast on the way she got lost, stuck on a mountain in the snow and the real story begins. You should read Sarah’s adventure with her Military Mountain Men, it is a great story!
Sarah has been working in a diner often used by Russian mafia members. One night she sort of witnesses a hit but knows it is too dangerous to go to the police. The mafia head visits her and gives her a briefcase of money to keep her mouth shut and go far, far away. Sarah travels to the East Coast hoping to stay with her foster sister. Almost at her destination, she loses her phone and her way. She is stranded on a dirt road in the mountains with a snowstorm coming fast. Luckily for her, a man comes by on his snowmobile and offers her shelter from the storm. To her surprise the shelter he brings her too is a big cabin shared by three retired military friends. At first not all of them are welcoming but over time, the passion heats up. Brady, Kasen and Corbin are three retired military men who have been holed up in the mountains. They are as close as brothers and share the same taste in women. Sarah is exactly their ideal woman. Now they have to decide if they can share her or even if they want to since she seems to be hiding a big secret. This is a fun steamy read with an unexpected twist. I really enjoyed this story.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I loved this story about Sarah, Brady, Corbin and Kasen. The guys are ex Army rangers who live in the mountains. She's from CA trying to start a fresh new life after witnessing a murder. The Bratva gives her money to disappear and keep her mouth shut. Unfortunately the detective isn't as nice. While traveling to start with her foster sister, Sarah gets stranded in a blizzard. Kasen finds her and takes her home. Brady doesn't like it and feels she's hiding something from them. Corbin agrees to go along with Kasen. Sarah has an instant spark between them all. So when they agree to share her, she goes along willing. But it was only to be temporary. When the blizzard keeps up it's wrath the contact Audrey, who informs Sarah that detective Jerry was there looking for her. When all heck breaks lose as he hold Audrey hostage until Sarah comes, then tries to kidnap both women to ensure Sarah will testify. Luckily the guys come to the rescue again. Great read with a happy ending for them.

This was a great book. I was pulled in from the first page and didn't want the story to end.
Sarah is working at a dive bar when she hears a murder taking place. She knows that she can't say anything because of the clientele at the bar. When she is offered money to leave the area, she takes it and runs to her friend. Unfortunately, she has car troubles before she gets to her destination and the weather is turning bad. She meets Kasen and he helps her out. He takes her back to his place where she meets Brady and Corbin who are not happy to see her. She is stuck at their place until the weather calms down. The guys are dealing with some things in their past but are drawn to Sarah still. Will they be able to make something work when Sarah's past shows up onto the scene?

Here we see Sarah who's been working in a bar where the Russian Mafia tends to drink in & it's a night she'd wish she didn't need to cool down as her life was to change. The mob boss advices her to move away with what he gives her & all she can think about is going to get to her foster Sister's well away from the Sunny Coast to the mountains & it's when she's nearly there a snowstorm changes her direction when a stranger comes by & gets her to the warmth & safety of his & his 2 old team mates from the Rangers. these men are Kasen, Corbin & Brady & Brady IS NOT happy at all as he doesn't trust anyone. So here we see these 3 hot men & pretty woman holed up together for the foreseeable future until she'll be able to move on or will it carry out that way???
Sarah sees something she shouldn't have and ends up leaving town. When she gets lost and stuck during a snowstorm Kasen rescues her. Kasen, Brady and Corbin live together and are former military. Brady and Corbin aren't happy when they see that Kasen has brought someone home with him. They are suspicious because of stuff they've had happen in the past and they know Sarah is hiding something. Things heat up between the four of them and they all end up having sex. Its not long before danger catches up to Sarah. Will the guys be able to protect her?
This is a great story the will keep your reading until the end. The chemistry between the character is steamy hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

To Protect and Love...Often Veronica Wade, author of Her Military Mountain Men, has written a reverse harem that had a good, solid storyline and well defined characters. Sarah, the waitress had good reasons to flee the area and move across country after witnessing the murder of a Russian Mob member and a detective after her. Being stranded near the lodge of three rangers couldn't have come at a more fortuitous time for her. Unfortunately the guys, Brady, Kasen and Corbin have mixed feelings and opinions until a nor'easter forces them to get to know each other in all the ways that matter, including protecting each other. I like this story and am recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book.
3.5 stars. Sarah witnessed a hit by the Russian mafia while she is at work. She is given a suitcase full of money to forget and disappear. She travels from California to the east to see her foster sister, but her car gets stuff and she is rescued by a former Army Ranger, Kasen. He takes her to his house that he shares with his two ranger brothers. There is a lot of mistrust since the men have been betrayed in the past by a woman and she has a whopper of a secret. How will they deal with their attractions to each other? Nicely written and and enjoyable. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
This was a good read. Sarah witnesses a murder but it’s not all bad - she gets given a suitcase full of money to keep her mouth shut. She has to leave town so heads to her sisters but on the way she gets stuck. Stroke of luck really as she is found by Kasen, who is hot, and he offers her a place to stay until the storm passes. So, she ends up at his cabin with him and his two sexy ass friends. She’s attracted to them...they’re attracted to her...so eventually things gets hot and steamy. The guys were all likeable and there was some added drama too. The ending was sweet.

Well written fast paced story full of intense chemistry, danger and love
This was a great first read from this author! I really felt Ms. Wade did a fab job building up the emotions, the chemistry and kept things real with the hesitancy they all had about moving forward with their unique relationship. 'No strings attached' became very sticky and lead to a steamy HEA! This fun read has the ever dangerous Russian mob, detectives, murder, a nor'eastener and a cranky cat all wound around the intense chemistry that came from their time together. Well done!
This story is somewhat typical for the MFMM stories, but still quite fresh. It has a good story line, the characters are good, the villains turn out to be not always the same so they come with a twist and overall the story is just well rounded and somehow quite solid. I can not say other than I liked it a lot and if you are a fan of MFMM stories, I ám quite sure you would like this one, but again - this is only my opinion about it.

This book reads wonderfully well .. the tension in the story lets you read through to the end .. do not forget the delicious chemistry and a good storyline. The characters are made for each other .. three men who are brothers for each other and a woman who wants to start a new life after a tough start. For me, the book had everything to amuse me on a cold day. From me 5 stars

A story written in multiple POV which gives the reader more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. It also brings the story closer to the reader because of that. Well written with nice storyline and plot. Likeable characters that could have more personality and be described in a better way. A story that flows well of the pages. A story with a mix of drama, danger, hot scenes, murder, cops, chemistry, passion and twists. I like the unexpected ending.
It's pretty amazing what a little bit of snow... well a lot of snow can do. It changes minds, changes dreams, even changes expectations. This is a great story with all the right elements, great characters, hot love scenes, action and suspense acts most of all love. This is a great read and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The storyline in all the books by this author are super great well thoughtout but the sex scenes could do with some work as they do not flow together there are bits where it just jumps to a different part of the sexual act to another without clearly showing the flow and none of the characters in all her books practice safe sex at all not a good message to send really
I enjoyed this story, it was quite good for a first time Author. I have to admit the ending surprised me i thought it was going to be the mafia gang after her. . So imagine . my surprise when it wasnt lol. I like stories that dont have predictable endings. The characters were each wonderful, i love military men so its a bonus for me
I love the reverse harem romance genre as what women would not love a group of men who are there to be there for her both physically and emotionally. The fact that the men are military men makes it even better. This is a very hot and steamy read.

Sarah witnesses something she shouldn’t have and is leaving town. When she gets stuck in a blizzard, she is rescued by three military mountain men and sparks fly. What will happen when the trouble she left behind, catches up with her? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama, suspense and steam. I like the characters and the chemistry is off the charts hot. I really liked it!
