I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.

I thought that Jerica had reeled me in and hooked my heart with the first story in the Cataclysm series but as soon as I met Danny and Ava and experienced their chemistry together in “Shouldn't Want You”, I knew that I was a complete and total goner! They had me wrapped up in their palpable sexual tension and wondering when they were going to succumb to their attraction for one another.

All I knew about Danny from the first book “Anything You Need” was that he was the moodiest out of this band of sexy rockers but I wanted to dig deeper and learn more about this hot, single dad. Now after getting to know him, it wasn't just Ava's panties he had in a twist. He kept me hot and bothered with his mission to keep Ava at arm's length. The more I got to see deep into his psyche, I fell harder for this rocker that puts his all into those he loves, starting with his adorable little boy.

I was immediately swept away in Ava's inner turmoil over her past and I couldn't wait to see Danny show her what real love and passion is all about. She kept me wanting to dive beneath the layers of her persona to get to know the young woman who was just waiting to blossom in self confidence and sexuality. I enjoyed every moment with this nanny who has finally found her “band” of people that will show her unconditional love.

Jerica MacMillan delivers another scorching tale of love with one of the hottest fictional bands around. I highly recommend “Shouldn't Want You” for a slow burn that is sure to warm your heart and heat your body. I absolutely adore Jerica's books and am always clamoring for another one soon after I finish the last page of her newest story. I cannot wait to see what the sexy Cataclysm boys have in store for us in the future. With Jerica wielding the pen, it is sure to be steamy and heart melting.

Every book this author gets better and better. There is just something about her stylistic writing choices that has me continually turning the pages. I fall in love with the characters every time and they become real (shh, don’t tell my therapist that I said that, or I will need MORE therapy sessions!). It is a compliment though because each of these characters embeds themselves into my soul. I want to hug them (Ava) or clone my own personal Rockstar and make more Eli’s (seriously this kid!).

This book has you believing that everything that happens puts you on the path to being where you need to be at the exact moment that you need to be there. There is always a silver lining to every situation. This is a slow burning relationship but that just adds to the story and when it finally happens it is so very worth it.

Kudos to this author for another stellar book.

Loved the characters. I only wished they were able to date because reading their tv habits was not as romantic as a few cool dates. The poor girl deserved that and it seemed the main character did also. Instead history repeats itself...

Ava needs a job... like yesterday. She can't complete her Early Childhood Education degree because she lost her scholarship which means no more student housing. And if that wasn't enough she lost her job because of the scandal. And if her ultra-conservative parents found out she would also lose her family. All because of a man.

When she sees the 'nanny needed, must be able to travel' ad she applies immediately. Getting out of town is the perfect thing right now.

Danny needs a nanny now. He is getting ready to leave for tour and he refuses to leave his baby behind. After a groupie deliberately poked holes in the condom he paid her to have the baby and sign over her parental rights and his parents have been taking care of Eli while he was on his last tour. But now that he has bonded over this break there is no way he is leaving him behind.

With only a few days left before leaving for tour if Eli likes the woman who just arrived she is hired. She is the first applicant who hasn't fan girled all over him.

I loved this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This book can be read as a standalone but revolves around the band Cataclysm.

This book is action-packed and steamy hot. Ava was a naive student who believed the lies of her married professor which not only ruined her reputation, but her trust in men. Danny had been played and ended up with an unexpected baby and planned to never go down that road again.

This book has a wide range of secondary characters that revolve around the band. I love their bond and all of the characters. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. This is the first book I read by Jerica MacMillan, but she is definitely a one-click author.

Highly recommend!

Ava's life has been flipped upside down in the worst possible way and she is desperate to find a job. When she comes across an add for a live-in nanny who must be willing to travel it seems too good to be true with her back ground in early childhood development. Danny is the lead guitarist for Cataclysm and the band is about to head out on their next tour. But he doesn't want to leave his two year old son behind. He doesn't want either of them to miss out on their time together. So he needs to hire a nanny. When Ava shows up at his door she seems too good to be true. She doesn't fan girl all over him and she immediately bonds with his son. Both of them feel the draw to the other but have their own motivating factors to avoid the other. But once they go on tour they can no longer deny their feelings.

I enjoyed Ava and Danny. They were sweet and endearing and all kinds of hot. And Eli was super cute. Loved that little dude. I loved that we got more of the band life/tour life in this one. Ava's story was heartbreaking, I just wanted to give her a momma bear hug but I loved how strong she was after it. I felt that after all she went through she was so much stronger. Danny was a giant cinnamon roll and I love him for that. He had a rough hand, was a bit grumpy on the outside but he was such a sweet heart. I loved him.

Shouldn’t Want You - CATACLYSM #2 - Review

Couple: Ava & Danny

Author: Jerica McMillan

Tropes: rockstar romance, single dad romance, nanny romance, friends to lovers, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine

Review: If you are looking for a swoon worthy, grumpy hero then look no further! This book is a dual POV rockstar romance that will routing for these two lost souls.

Ava is a young girl who is hiding from her past and mistakes. When she is hired to be a nanny for Danny’s son Eli while the band tours, she can’t say no. The bond between Ava and Eli was phenomenal and sweet. I loved how Ava was able to overcome a lot other past and help Eli adjust to being on tour and then with her attraction with Danny.

Danny is a father drowning. I enjoyed his character the most since he was so vocal about everything. I also liked how his attraction and respect for Ava developed slowly over time. His bandmates and friends were also very inclusive and I loved how they all adopted Ava into the fold with them.

The spice while slow to build is hot once it takes off and I loved it all. The couple is intense but also swoony and romantic at times. I loved how Danny always put Ava first and respected her boundaries and concerns.

This is a great quick read that will leave you reading the other books in the series.

Rating: 10/10, highly recommend this read!

Ava needs a job fast before she becomes homeless... She gets one working as a nanny for Danny, & where she’s going to help him out with his son. She’s leaving behind a huge scandal, so it’s imperative that it works out. The scandal caused her to lose her scholarship, & if her parents find out she will be disinherited.

As Ava & Danny live & work together, they become increasingly attracted to each other. However, is their attraction based on or due to proximity? Or is it real?

There is some great writing in this story...
-I can't remember how long since I cuddled with a woman, since sex became transactional instead of relational.
-And then Ava looks up at me, and we lock eyes, and her smile turns softer. Just for me. Once again, I'm done.
-I'm going to live my life how I want, distancing myself from the horror and hypocrisy of my past.

After they spend the night together when she comes back drunk from partying & spends the night, it’s pretty clear what’s going to happen next. Still, it’s enjoyable to read. I love Blaire, too!

Wonderful story!!

I loved this book. Even more than book one in the Cataclysm series, which was also a great read. I was drawn into the story from the opening paragraphs and devoured every word. Sorry to have it end. I hope we see more of Danny and Ava and Eli in the next books. I'm glad Kendra and Marcus were in this story and Blair too. Can't wait to read her story. I do wish we had seen Danny's mom at the end and hear her reaction to the HEA.

This story melted my heart! Between Danny and Eli’s sweet relationship, the relationship between Ava and Eli and the love that grows between Danny and Ava this story has all the feels. Ava’s past will break your heart, but everything comes together beautifully. Danny’s bad boy rocker outside hides a heart of gold. I would definitely recommend reading this series in order but it can be read as a stand alone.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Danny hires Ava to be a nanny to his 2 year old son. Ava was used and discarded by her college professor who she thought loved her. He dumped her when she found out she was pregnant. She later miscarried.
Danny feels something for Ava and fights it but they soon become involved. They she becomes pregnant. She fears having another miscarriage so doesn't rush to tell him. But he finds out another way and she walks out before they can talk about it.
A brilliantly written story with excellent characters and a happy ending guaranteed.

I can definitely say it’s Me and not you when it comes to this book I found it juvenile and eye rolling. Someone please tell me what rockstar looks for a Nanny through Craigslist???? Cause I will start applying right now.
This premise has been done before and with more research and less predictably
A star for the little boy Eli and one for Blaire

Sweet and sexy!

Danny is a lead guitarist who needs a nanny. Ava is a college student who needs a job. Ava falls for Eli which is Danny's son at first site. Everything takes off after that. The chemistry and intrigue bring these two together, but can Ava's past tear them apart?? Read now to find out.

I absolutely loved this story...

Overcoming so much in life can take a toll, and that's what Ava found out the hard way. Trusting people and worrying what the world thinks is a trap a lot of people fall into. It was a great experience to watch Ava start to cone out of her shell, and overcome obstacles.

Enjoyable read

As with the first in the series, I enjoyed reading this book. A few typos, but nothing that distracts from the story. I know the author said this book was difficult to write, but I have to say that I think I enjoyed this book a little more than the first. Definitely recommend reading this series, and I cannot wait for the next book.

Lovely story.

Wow! The length some girls will go through for money and or fame. Danny had his life turned upside down by a groupie but he was able to put his life back on track with the help and understanding of his parents and his band family. Having Ava in his live was the best thing for him and his adorable son Eli. Now they are a beautiful family.

Swoon

Yep I said swoon. These 2 together make my heart happy. He's just so sweet and their love is quickly swoon worthy to me. There are some hot scenes to be read too. I literally had to read myself to sleep because I couldn't put the book down once I started.
I wonder what they're doing now though? I need to know. 😀

Danny and Ava

Wow that was an another enjoyable story . Actually I read the stories out of order, I read Aaron and Sam first then Marcus and Kendall and Danny and Ava. All the stories are good. I wonder does Mason and Blaire give a real shot or do they find different lovers ?

Shouldn’t Want You was yet another gripping book by Jerica. I have loved every single book I have ever read of hers and this book was no exception.

Shouldn’t Want You is book 2 in the Cataclysm series. You don’t have to have read the first book but I highly recommend it as this series is about a rock band called (you guessed it) Cataclysm.

This is Danny story. I loved Danny from Anything You Need. You could feel his anguish in that book and I was so glad he was next. Danny is a new father after a groupie trapped him. Danny decided that there was no way he was going to let her get rid of it so he paid her to have the baby and sign away her rights as a mother, which she did.

Now that Cataclysm and Danny are going back on tour, he knows that he never wants to leave Eli again for a long period of time so he puts out an ad for a nanny to accompany him and Eli on tour.

This is where Ava comes in. She has had the worse few months of her life and it’s been turned upside down. When she sees the ad for a nanny who is willing to travel, she jumps at the chance.

You can tell right away what a sweet soul Ava has. I wanted to hold her tight sometimes and tell her that she is better than that and life can only get better. What an inspirational character she was and Danny, the soft side to him when he is with Eli would melt anyone’s heart.

These two on paper shouldn’t work but as their relationship progresses, you can feel their chemistry and you route for them. I enjoyed the way Danny was with Ava and how much everything seemed to just click. There was so much depth in this book, I was hooked from the start and LOVED every second of it.

Highly recommend all of Jerica’s books, especially this one!

This is the second book in Jerica MacMillan's Cataclysm series and each one can be read as a standalone but would be enjoyed more read in order.
This is Danny's story - the guitar player for the band and a single Dad to Eli. Wanting to take 2yo Eli on tour with the band, Danny hires Ava to be the live in nanny. Ava is a shy and conservative girl (thanks to her upbringing) who has recently had her heart broken and is desperate for a job in child care.
The chemistry between Danny and Ava is palpable but I love how they became sort of friends first, before taking it to the next level. Eli is adorable and just loves Ava, but really it is Danny who melted my heart in this novel - the way in which he loves his little boy is just beautiful and I loved watching him slowly start to love Ava in the same way. He's so protective and completely unselfish, definitely not your typical rock star!! As for Ava, I loved watching her spread her wings and finding herself again despite her recent trauma. They both so deserve the love they find and their HEA.
As usual, the side characters are entertaining and leave you wanting to read all about their stories too - it was nice seeing Marcus and Kendra from book one again, happy and in love! I can't wait for the next one to come out so we can read Aaron's story, I know it's going to be amazing!
Well done Jerica on another fantastic release!!
I received an ARC of this book and leave this honest review of my own free will

Ava has had the worst year of her life. While having an affair with her married professor, who made promises to her that he had no intentions of keeping, she ends up pregnant. After he breaks her heart, she has a miscarriage and when the whole school finds out, she looses her scholarship and has to drop out. With no money, she is desperate for a job and answers an ad for a nanny who is willing to travel ... perfect! She is not expecting the little boy's father to be a hot rockstar. Danny is trying to do good by his 2-year old son Eli and so he hires Ava to be Eli's nanny so he can take him out on tour with him. But Danny doesn't expect to find the sweet Ava more alluring every day.

I loved this book! I thought it was cute that Danny thought Ava was a virgin ... and she definitely wasn't. I also loved that Danny and Ava had a burning need for one another that they took awhile to act upon and that Danny didn't want a plastic girl, he wanted someone who was real. This book checked all the boxes for me ... a sweet romance, a cute kid, laughter, heartbreak and of course lots of steam! I highly recommend this book ... I loved the first book in this series, but I loved this one more! I can't wait for the next book after the little teaser in the epilogue.

I graciously received an ARC courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

Oh my goodness I Absolutely Loved every single bit of this story, a slow burn Romance between a sexy tattooed single Dad Rockstar and his shy reserved Nanny with a secret.
I instantly fell in Love with Danny, he made me swoon with his patience, and thoughtfulness with Ava and his Son.
Ava was a shy and closed off character because of events in her past, they were brought into each others lives because of a 2 year old adorable little boy Eli. Danny's son.
Needing to escape from her life and from her past, Ava applies for the job to be Eli's Nanny not realising she will be taking care of one of the biggest up and coming Rockstars son.
There is an instant spark between Ava and Danny, he is intrigued by her and how she doesn't treat him like a famous Rockstar.. Ava is drawn to Danny because he is super hot, but also a great Dad.. But he is her boss so he is Off limits.. Can they both fight their attraction or will they give into the inevitable and what would Danny think of her if he found out about her past.
Jerica Macmillan has done it again.,written a book that you can't put down, I was addicted to every word and couldn't get enough.
It is an Incredible read, totally spellbinding and a must read for all you Rockstar Romance readers like me. Great job Jerica I am hooked on this series and they are a pleasure to read.

I loved everything about this slow burning love story! If, like me, you saw Danny as a grouchy, pain in the a$$ in book one of this series and considered taking a pass on his book … don’t!
Becoming a father was unplanned and inconvenient, but the love Danny has for Eli is beautiful. Seeing Danny and Eli together made me melt. And now that Eli is old enough to travel with him, his grouchy persona is morphing into doting dad. Of the hot, tattooed variety.
Hiring Ava as Eli’s nanny was the right decision—she’s experienced, professional, talented. She’s also lovely, sweet, and sexy in spite of her naïveté . And being near her every day just might send Danny over the edge.
Ava’s sheltered upbringing didn’t prepare her for the harshness of the real world. So when life smacked into her head-on, I truly felt her pain. But she refuses to crumble, and I loved her strength and perseverance. Especially when faced with the temptation of her sexy rock star boss.
But the character who stole my heart was Eli. This kid is absolutely adorable!
Shouldn’t Want You is a superbly written, fun, sexy, and poignant story that you won’t be able to put down.

This book was amazing. It was about Danny, Ava and Eli, Danny's son. I just loved all the characters in this book. The chemistry between Danny and Ava was so intense from the very first time they meant. Ava tried to ignore it because of things that had happened in her past. She was so afraid to let someone in again and then end up being really hurt. Danny was just very wary of woman in general since what happened with the woman that had his son Eli. Ava gets the job being Eli's nanny because Danny wants to take his son on tour with him. Being around each all the time proves very problematic when your feels keep getting stronger. Ava and Danny both try to fight those feelings but what happens when they can't fight them anymore? This book is a must read. From the time I picked it up I could not put it down. I just loved everything about it. When you add in Eli a sweet little boy it just makes the book that much better. I cannot wait for the next one. We got a little sneak peak at Aaron's book and wholly molly it sounds hot !! I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’m on a romance binge holiday weekend, and I’m a bit weird as I love rockstar (and sports star) romances as much as Regency Period tales and have been going back and forward between the genres. Luckily for me Jerica MacMillan is out with a great rockstar romance, Shouldn't Want You (Cataclysm Book 2). Yes, there are lots of tales of the wealthy (fill in the blank) and the nanny - but the reason for this is that they are wonderful stories when done well. This one is done far more than merely “well”. Ava and Danny start off do seemingly opposite that it’s incredible to see how they end up so perfectly together (and Eli is a total cutesy). This is a pure good feel romance that presses all the right yummy buttons. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. Now, since I read this book out of order (though it definitely works well as a stand-alone) I’m simply going to have to read the first book in the series, Anything You Need.

Shouldn't Want You is book two in the Cataclysm series. It can be read as a standalone. I have book one, Anything You Need, on my TBR but decided to read this one first. Cataclysm alt-rock band. Danny is a guitarist for Cataclysm. He's a sexy single dad. The band is going on tour and he want to bring his son, Eli, with him so he needs a nanny. Ava is in a rough patch. She's lost her school scholarship and is looking for a job. Ava doesn't know who Danny is when she meets him. She hits it off with Eli and gets the job. There is a connection between Ava and Danny. Because of their pasts, they both try to fight off the connection they have. Their relationship slowly blossoms. Ava kept secret what happened in her past and I was waiting for that to come out. This has a good story line that and it had me hooked. I'm going to go back and read Anything You Need now.

Loved It

This book had a little of everything I love in a book. Danny and Ava fighting their attraction for one other. Eli, Danny’s son was so adorable. His parts were my favorites in the book. Everyone has made past mistakes in their lives but, Ava put it all on herself, when there were others to blame. It’s not mentioned in the book but, I hope Ava’s ex’s gets what he deserves. What I liked about Danny was that he was kind and sweet. After what happen to him he could have been a bitter guy. But, he loved Eli more than anything. So no bitterness. He wanted to protect Ava even before their first kiss.
I definitely recommend reading this book. One more thing, I loved the character of Blaire. She didn’t take crap from anyone. Not even the Band Members. She was always right.

This was an emotional rollercoaster, I mean it wasn’t dark or anything but from the first chapter I felt so bad for Ava. She has had some serious issues occur and you can’t help but to feel sorry for her. Danny is such an amazing dad, protective over those he loves, and such a sweetheart under his frowny face. Little Eli was the absolute cutest and will steal your heart (I loved that the author threw Blippi in there, lord that show annoys me but my kids do love it lol). It’s a slow burn relationship but trust me it’s hot and steamy when they finally get together. They definitely have some drama that occurs but I don’t want to reveal too much so I’ll just say read it, it’s so good. Also that epilogue holy crap I can’t wait for Aaron’s story.

Nothing is hotter than a Rockstar single dad! Cataclysm is a successful rock band and it makes it hard to travel with a two-year-old. So, Danny will need to hire a nanny to travel with them. He just hopes the newest girl being interviewed doesn’t recognize him right away or go completely fangirl on him.

Ava is ready for an escape in her life. She needs to get her life in order before she confesses all her sins to her parents or at least before they find out from someone else.

Love, love, love Shouldn’t Want You. Danny is a wonderful dad and the way he nurtures those around him shows how hard he loves too. Pick up this slow burn story and get engulfed in the flames that Danny and Ava ignite.
