Hestasia: Lost in Love is the first book in this amazing fantasy series. I absolutely love K.L. Thorne and this book was just as good as the others!
I’m not usually a fan of fantasy writing but this story was so detailed. A demon and a faerie is an odd match, but fate can’t be stoped, not even by them. I would defiantly recommend this series and I can’t wait for the next book in the Hestasia Series!!
The opening scenes were nicely written and it was clear the editing was good so that’s always a promising start. I’m a fan of dialogue, there’s a lot of it and it’s very easy to follow. Though at times it is a little, ‘modern’ and it did jolt me out of the faerie/demon realm a few times. Faerie Princess Lori has had a sheltered upbringing and acts a little like a petulant and promiscuous 13 year old with little empathy for others. Given her physical description made her also very child-like, it was hard to think of her as a 26 year old woman. As girls of 13 tend to suffer from infatuations rather than love, it made the relationship with the big burly demon Lephas, who looked to her like he was in his forties, a bit…young Dani & old Drogo. A lot going on, action, tension and scary situations but unlike the princess, the ending lacked the promised climax. I honestly would have been happy to have this as a wonderfully exciting YA fantasy story. Either way, it needs to go somewhere and have a solid conclusion because at the moment it feels like half a book. I was hovering between the 3.5 and 4. I’ve gone 4 because I want to give Thorne the benefit of the doubt; that she’ll take the series and build on such a promising start. I’d even go as far as to suggest, even without reading it, that the two instalments be merged and edited to flow as one.
What wonderful world did I just jump into?!? Quick and complete world building (which is hard to find in romantasy), lovable characters, good spice quality! And I love me a good age gap romance! The faeries and demons are at war. Faerie princess Lori runs away from her comfortable life. Demon commander Lephas is tasked with finding her and bringing her to the demon king. Add in a little bit of getting lost plus a pinch of forced proximity, and BAM! All the feels. And spice. But what will happen once Lephas brings his charge back to the demon kingdom? OH. MY. GOODNESS! This book is AWESOME!! Who could have known that I’d laugh so hard at a c0ckbl0cking rabbit? Not me, that’s for sure! I don’t think I have ever wanted two characters to have a happy ending more than these two! We only get the HFN ending in this book because it’s only book 1 in the series, but I’m hoping to see more of their relationship in the coming books! Definitely run to read this series if you haven’t already!! The final 2 installments are releasing soon!! ❤️
I don't always read smutty romance, but when I do I read K.L. Thorne
As the war between the demons and faeries rages on, it seems as though there is no common ground to be made. Until the day Lori, a runaway faerie princess, falls into the hands of a company of demons pursuing her.
Taught to fear and hate demons, Lori is surprised when she finds that they are not quite who she was led to believe they are. Especially a certain smoldering demon commander, named Lephas, who also is surprised that faeries are not what he expected either.
With originality and lucidity, Thorne weaves an gripping tale of two lovers caught in a war between their races. A well developed plot and characters, all contribute to a great story full of love, betrayal, and salacious intrigue. You won't want to put this down once you begin, and in the end, you will be left wanting to read more.
This is a great introduction into the world of Hestaesia! I love the role reversal in certain situations between Lori and Lephas. The book is eventful from the start, taking you on a path of intrigue, mystery, self awareness, joy, sadness, he!!, it gives you all of the feels. The humour is on point too! The connection between the main characters is palpable, and clear to see when the sizzle gets sizzling 🥵. I can’t say more without giving spoilers, just read it. You really won’t be disappointed. Absolutely loved it! 🥰 🥰
No words, right now. Y'all know fantasy isn't my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd love. When I tell you this was phenomenal. Oof, I need it all. Between battles, freak snow storms, and bear attacks and everything in between. Lori found some major demon love, and I am here for it.
If i had to be dragged in the dead of winter, through the Forrest I would be happy it was by a good looking demon. Specially when he wants to get frisky in the snow. I would be a cold tale to tell, one hundred percent worth it. Let me just say, the bear needs to mind his own business next time. Lost in love is the first read from K.L and it for sure won't be the last. I am a sucker for fantasy and I enjoyed every last part of this book! I look forward to seeing how the rest of the series pans out! Until next time. XxX- Laura
This romantasy story of a runaway faerie princess and the demon commander who saves her is the beginning of what promise to be a memorable series. The demons, fighting the oppression of the faerie crown, are rising up. Princess Lori's escape from her father's control and willingness to side with the demon ruler could be the turning point. Lephas, the demon commander, knows he's risking his life by falling in love with the enemy's daughter, but when she saves his life, he's lost in love.
I enjoyed the gradual world building elements that aren't thrown in your face page one. Lori didn't see a demon until she met Lephas, and he's never met a faerie princess; we learn about these unique characters from each other's observations. The Hestaesia world is still shrouded in mystery. I want to know more about the land, the weather, the people, and their majik. I hope more world building is included in the next installments in the series. Also, this book has some well-done spice after a steamy slow burn. It was tasteful without being over the top.
What can I say about this book other than it was so enjoyable. The enemies to lovers, the tension, the will they won't they. Ugh, it was just awesome.
It's got romance, it's got violence, death, forbidden romance, and a few steamy scenes. The plot line was awesome, and for those who like a #shadowdaddy, it has one of them too ;)
I'm straight into the next book in the series. If you haven't read it, please do.
I need the next book! This fantasy romance takes you on a journey, allowing the reader's heart to slowly fall in love with the characters. Not to give any spoilers away, I will say the slow burn, the spark is beautiful between is unlikely couple. You've got hidden magic, secrets, and a father who is the villain. Life changing events and passionate moments. I definitely recommend this book to the beginning of a romance series filled with magic.
So I don't like fantasy, so I tend to be picky... And I liked this book.
It's the first in the series, and it does a good job of world building without being too wordy.
Plus who doesn't love a good steamy captor/captive, age gap, forbidden and true love story with a side of forced proximity between a faerie and a demon/princess/commander (ps not the demon king 😉😉)?!
So, I wasn't sure what to expect going into this story, but boy am I glad that I started reading it. There so much depth and characters development in it that you can't help being drawn in.
The story revolves around Lephas and Lori. Lephas is a soldier for the demon king, and the best friends of the King's half-brother. He's sworn his allegiance to their mission of overthrowing the fae king that is evil, in short words. Though the demon king is working different angles to see if there's a way to have peace with the fae, the fae king seems fine with wars, and fighting. Lephas comes in to play when the demon king finds out that one of the fae kings daughters was seen out, and possibly on the run. Lephas and a team of men are sent to retrieve her.
Lori is the middle daughter of the fae king who just ran away from home. When her father decides that he's going to marry her off to someone 'worthy' of her, she fights him on it, but her father locks her away in her room. To escape for a life that she's never even had the chance to live, Lori escapes the palace. She's not sure where she's going, but knows that anywhere is better than what her father wants for her. Along the way, she runs into Lephas and his men, and they take her hostage, though they don't treat as such. Lori is drawn in by Lephas, who is the commander of the unit, but is extremely attractive and thoughtful of her.... Plus he looks nothing like her father described demons to look like. Together, after they get ambushed by her father's men, Lori and Lephas grow closer, but they aren't sure what their relationship can grown to be because of the fact that she is technically seen as the enemy's daughter.
There's clearly way more that I'm not putting in the review, and I have to leave juicy details out to entice others to read it, but there's no disappointment in the story. This is a slow burn, but still very good and worth reading.
This book started off really strong. I like how the male lead is written, he’s not afraid to admit his insecurities. One thing I hate about romance novels these days is the fact that most men are the “oh so charismatic and confident smooth talking guy who gets all the ladies” but the male lead is the complete opposite. He admits several times that he doesn’t get a lot of women, and he gets flustered several times throughout the story by the female lead. It’s refreshing!
One thing I didn’t enjoy was how the plot was slowed down halfway through the book to develop the leads sexual relationship. I felt like they were stopping every 2 pages, had a 5 pages describing their sexual activities, they sleep, 1-2 pages of them making very little progress walking, then they were setting up camp going back at it. I guess it’s just my personal opinion, but if I was going through half of what the female lead was going through, having sex would be the last thing on my mind.
I’m not a big fan of smut, i usually go out of my way to avoid reading it but i didn’t realize this book would have smut until it was right in my face. at the very least, it was tasteful. Slow, but it makes sense. The two built up to it and took their time.
I felt like the magic plot point of the female lead was very out of the blue, and i understand it was supposed to be very abrupt for both of them, but it was just very… strange?
I did enjoy the relationship between the two leads, and I really like the characters in this story.

Once a battle was fought between Faerie and Demon which left the Demon faction to live in poverty with their king killed. There was however an heir to the Demon faction and the new King is attempting to broker peace between the two factions but the Faerie King is thought to be losing his mind and refuses to believe in a possibility of peace.
Princess Lori the middle daughter to the Faerie King is tired of being kept nearly captive in the castle. She has not been allowed the freedom to choose much of anything. When her father decides she must enter into an arranged marriage with someone she has never met Lori decides she must get out of the castle.
Prince Oriel hears of the missing Princess and sends some of his men to look for her. Lead by captain Lephas they head out into the snow in search of the princess that no one knows what she looks like or how old she might be, though they believer her to still be a child.
Once they find Lori they must make the teak back to the Demon city to speak to the king. The travels are rough and they must overcome many dangerous obstacles in hopes of making it back to safety. Follow as Lori realizes how many lies she has been told by her father over the years.
What will become of the Faerie Princess and the Demons sent to capture her as a prisoner of war?
A perfectly well-written book; however, I have to agree with an earlier review that post chapter 5 the story loses its way. A large portion of the book is focussed on the budding relationship between the 2 main characters - the faerie princess Lori and the demon Lephas, but for the best part of 8 or 9 chapters in the middle of the book, not a great deal happens - they’re lost in the forest for a very, very long time! I’d like to have learnt more about the other characters introduced in the early chapters during this time, rather than Lori and Lephas traipsing through the forest; there’s only so much setting up and breaking camp a reader can take! The 2 main characters fawn over each other constantly which makes reading a little tedious and I have to admit there was a lot of eye-rolling on my part! This is supposed to be a fantasy/romance but it’s less romance, more infatuation. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh, I’m probably not the target audience, I’m old and cynical! As a warning (and I really feel it needs a warning), this is erotica masquerading as fantasy/romance. Some of the intimate scenes are graphic and beyond smutty. This is book one of two; I’m not really clear why it needs to be 2 books but alas I don’t think I will be picking up book two anytime soon.
Thanks so much to KL Thorne for the opportunity to read and review this book!
Lost in Love is a fantasy romance and book one in the Hestaesia series. The kingdom has been at war between the demons and the Fae for decades. When the Fae king arranges a marriage for his daughter, Princess Lori feels she has no other option but to run away. But what happens when she’s found by a group of demon soldiers?
This was a fun fantasy read! I really enjoyed Lori’s confidence and optimism throughout this story. Lephas was a wonderful character and I enjoyed the banter between the two of them. This is an interesting world and I enjoyed the magic system a lot - even if we don’t know much about it yet
Overall this was a four star read for me. A good start to a series with engaging characters. This book had spicy moments throughout so overall three flames for spice
If you’re a fan of fantasy romance reads with fun characters, forced proximity, interesting world building and fun banter, then absolutely pick this one up!
K.l Thorne is an amazing writer, she creates worlds that are just magical, that sucks you in and leave you begging for more. And this book did exactly that.
Once I started I couldn't stop at all, I was hooked on this world of hestaesia. The world building was amazing. The characters lori and lephas I just fell I. Love with. Their chemistry is everything.
It's a rollercoaster ride with twists and turns that just keeps giving. It's filled with mystery, joy, humour , sadness , spice and loads more. The characters storyline and plot where amazingly written.
What happens when a faerie princess runs away from her god awful father, a demon lephas catches you her of course and they survive some wild times, get to know each other better and maybe just maybe fall in love.
If you haven't read, I suggest you do its so worth it. I can't wait to read the next one in the series. Highly recommend.
I had heard great things about this series but kept pushing it back on my TBR list only because its a mile long already. But then I read an excerpt from another book and I absolutely had to bump this series up on my list.
While I really enjoy a good fantasy novel, I fucking love a great, dark, romance fantasy novel. This book is absolutely in the latter category for sure. It's dark, intense, emotional, everything I love and can't get enough of. The world building is phenomenal and the characters feel real and are so well developed.
Am I about to binge every book in the series in the next two weeks? Oh yes, absolutely. But I'll be enjoying every minute of it and impatiently waiting for more.
Welcome to the first book of the Hestaesia series! A magical kingdom with fairies, demons and majick. If you've read a series/book with these before you need to read this series! It has everything you could want. I don't usually read too much fantasy romance, but this one was definitely a good one.
Lephas was quite endearing in this story. He was respectful, shy and considerate. He was a true gentleman. Lori was adventurous and passionate. These two together made sparks fly. Trapped together, on the run, there was no hope for them not to fall in love with each other.
This was just the start of the series and I know it will just keep getting better and better.
Oh, how I love this world K.L Thorne has gifted us with, the world of Hestaesia. The world building is immaculate. I love how detailed this story is. I love Lori and Lephas. They have so much chemistry. Lori had to escape to get out of her father’s control. Lephas is a demon who happens to catch her. Will they fall in love? Will Lori’s father come for her to bring her back home? I can’t wait for Book 2!
As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what you like I may not.
Lost in Love by K.L. Thorne is book one in the Hestaesia series. Oh my… enemies to lovers, forbidden love, slow burn and finally they come together. Faerie Lori and demon Lephas find themselves traveling though snowy uncertain terrain faced with faerie warriors, cliffs and deadly bears. Will they make it out alive only to be separated when they return to Banesteppe?
Great character and world building, such a slow burn I kept anticipating more action only getting a bit further each scene. I feel such an attachment to the characters that I can’t wait to read book two, In Chains.

I really enjoyed this book, the romance and banter in it had me giggling like a teenager. The story line behind it was also good I would say this is very much 50/50 plot and romance which I liked. There was decent amount of spice. The only thing that confused me was the ending was very abrupt and not where I expected it to end, I thought they would atleast get to their destination not just randomly end, I guess they are leaving that until book 2 which I will be reading.
My very first book of faeries and demons and it really had me hooked. The author is super in putting words together and making a great story. I could hardly put the book down and I needed to find out if the faerie princess could over rule her demanding father. It was a great read and I highly recommend it.
This was an Great book. This is book 1, of the series. This is a fantasy book, I haven't read, this type of book, in a long time. I enjoy, this book. This book has faeries princess , demons and bears, enemies to lovers, romance, violence scenes, and steamy scenes. Will definitely, read more of her books.
This story pulled me right through. I read almost all of it in one day. I liked how the two mains got to spend so much alone time getting to know one another. Sure they survived a cliff dive, frigid blizzards, and a bear attack, but it was all just a romantic walk in the woods 😆. I have already grabbed book 2 from KU.
This was an easy read overall. It felt like a cozy read with the exception of the animals harmed in the process. The dialogue felt a little like a 30’s film to me—akin to It Happened One Night. The FMC especially felt this way with her naïveté and forwardness. I was also not satisfied with the way it ended.
Not my usual read at all. But i really enjoyed the book. Read it in no time at all. The writing is great and the story really drags you in. The relationship between the factions and the characters is really good. Can't wait for the next one.
