Nylian Lukalyn, Ny to his friends, leads a content life— working for the family business, while enjoying life as part of the fae community. Watching friends fall in love hasn’t been easy, and he wonders if his ceile, his soul mate, is truly out there, or if he’s destined to spend his life alone. Dran leads a solitary life, partly because he’s a bear shifter, but mostly because it is the life he has chosen. He’s devoted to tattooing and creating art. While he hopes to find his mate someday, he’s waiting patiently for the right person to appear in his life. A chance meeting between Ny and Dran leaves an intense, simmering attraction. One they’d both love to pursue, but life isn’t as easy as that. The after-effects of an attack on their paranormal community has left their attention and budding romance divided while both are forced to focus on other aspects of paranormal life. When another feral attack rocks the community, it shows how much danger they are all in— the most lethal feral they’ve encountered so far is out for blood. Friends old and new work together to try and bring the attacks to an end. Ny and Dran must figure out exactly what they mean to each other while praying that none of them lose their lives while they battle to rid Corent City of the ferals.
I love the slow-burnish romance development. There was instant-love but it wasn't all 'I want to devour you now' kind of vibe. Both MCs were exploring each other compatibility and feelings for each other. It was a bit too sweet for my liking. It wasn't intense and passionate. Their relationship is like honey - calming and sweet. How it ended with the feral incidents that have been happening since the first book made me cringe. I really want to see how it will develop but the next book isn't out yet. And I haven't seen any news that it will, so I'm minusing o.5 stars for it.
Rating: 4.5 stars I really enjoyed this latest installment in the Corent City Tales. I loved both Ny and Dran. Dran especially was endearing with his never-ending love of all things honey. I liked that we got to see more of the Ny’s family and we also got to see quite a bit of Charlie and Matt. The author did a good job continuing the story and setting up potential future mate pairings. The author has left many unanswered questions concerning the feral outbreak, so I’m sure it will be addressed in future volumes. My only complaint is that the author tends to get a bit sickly sweet with her writing. All in all, this was a really good book and I highly recommend it, especially if you are already a fan of the series.
January 2020 I wanted to give this book another chance. But unfortunately, it's still wordy and slow. And the different speeches, by different characters didn't help improve the plot. At best they felt repetitive.. .Looking back on the 2019 rating, I'd give this book only 2 stars now. It was just a too slow, wordy boring.
Besides that I wish we had another book come out soon, as I want to know why the ferals attack the city. Also, I want to read a book about the vamp king...
This was supposed to be a "taking-it-slow" couple. For me, this was pretty much insta. And I'm fine with that especially in Paranormal Romance, I like insta, mostly. but if you're driving the point home of a slow burn relationship and that's not how it actually is, really, then I'm frustrated. The sexual aspect of the relationship may have been a little slow but the feelings and emotions weren't.
I enjoy this world, the characters and how they all are one weird, dysfunctional family. Even though I sometimes struggle through the book(s) I'm always looking for the next one.
This was sweet, way too much occasionally. I cringed a little at times. Don't get me wrong the sex scenes were hot when they came around but the relationship came across as meh because we didn't see the development really. The little moments we missed in turn for the grand gestures and story arc that I'm sure will be in future books. Speaking of, it's definitely an interesting/exciting one, hopefully executed better.
I gotta be honest I feel like Ny and Dran were done for me around the 60ish percent mark and I was allllll about a vampire King and a sweet shy guy. Hello hi I am here for that please and thanks. Right now please.
It was a nice book. But I skimmed and got bored but I enjoy this world and will be waiting for the next one.
I liked the cover and I liked the premise,so I had high expectations which book halfway delivered.
Nylian is tea brewer (so cute!) and Dran is tattoo artist. They met accidental and they are drawn to each other from the fist moment. There is certainly element of fairy tale in this story. They are both waiting for Mr. Right and happened to find each other accidentally. There is no pressure on either side as they are willing to explore connection at leisure. The friends and acquaintances add to quirky, cheerful vibe of the book.
I wasn’t actually expecting suspense part of the plot (haven’t read previous books) and from there I wasn’t too happy with the plot. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad, but the story changed to introduce characters for the next book and the plot picked up clues from previous book and continued to build plot for the series. That I liked less.
But I loved chemistry between Nylan and Dran and the world-building is interesting. The first part of the story was much more to my taste but it’s an OK book overall. Gorgeous cover!
I received copy of this book in exchange for review. The review is also posted on Gay Book Reviews
This series never disappoints these books are full of action intrigue passionate love great couple and smoking sexy times . And this this time around is no exception in this book be have Ny a Fae from a prominent family who just happen to be Knox's Ex before Knox met and fell in love with Charlie . Than there's Dran the tattoo artist does all the brother's mating tattoos both Ny and Dran are looking for the one when they meet at a bar . Their attracted too each other right away and their both pleasantly surprised when they find out that they know many of the same people . As Nylian and Dran get to know each other they both come to the realization that they're both falling in love with the each other . But tragedy strikesut ttacked one one coming home and is left fore dead although Ny survives his attack it still leaves a lot of unanswered questions . Just when things start too get back to normal and our couple settle down too mated bliss a second attack takes place although they survive this attack everyone knows that something has to be do about these attacks so plan is put in motion .
I love this authors work and this series. Moving away from the Vaughn brothers we get Ny this time and Dran. I love Dran's super sweet bear. Unlike the more alpha guys in this series Dran is more laid back and I like how neither Dran or Ny are surprised with their match and naturally get together. I also liked get to know a little bit more about Ny who has popped in throughout the series. This book also kicks the feral angle of the series into high gear and I'm looking forward to seeing how that changes the stories going forward.
Sweet story about Ny and Dran. I love these two together. Most of the book focused on them and their relationship amid attacks on the group. It was an emotional story with sweet and tender moments.
I love that other characters showed up in the story as well. The only thing was that I wanted to know more about the feral outbreaks and attacks not to mention why they are happening. I assume all will be revealed in future books.
I absolutely love this entire series. I'm so glad that Ny got his own mate in Dren, I've been waiting on his story since book one. I can't wait to read the next book, I really want to know what's going on with the ferals.
love that this world and stories are getting more complex. Felt like this particular's couple romance was a little boring and the pacing was weird. A mix of slow burn in that they wait to have sex but are quick to decide that they are each other mates.
Man alive now I have to wait for the next in the series to see what the heck is going on. I'm really wanting Seth and a certain someone to have their book next along with what drama is about to unfold. I cannot wait!
Love these books romance but with a mystery adventure so it’s not the same sap like other series. I can’t wait to find out if they make a vaccine and who is making ferals
Honestly, I could give a big thing about what this book has to offer and how great it is cause it is. But I feel like the fact that this is a Hannah Walker book says it all. She doesnt write anything that's not amazing and I absolutely reccomend any and all her work.
This was an awesome story with equally awesome characters. I love the story continuing on throughout this series but it doesn't take over the romance angle. Xanthus and seth have to come next. I think if they don't I will die. Can't wait for the next book!!!!!
The repetitive pillow talk makes them come across as needy and bores me but I understand where others might crave those scenes. Otherwise it was interesting. Glad the koala is more involved.
