Vaya cosa más tonta. Sé que un relato da para poco pero este no hay por dónde cogerlo. No niego que la idea está bien pero Kleypas mete muchísimas cosas y le sale una cosa aburrida llena de vaivenes que no te interesan. Incluso mete una historia de amor secundaria! Wtf?!? Además, los protagonistas no resultan atractivos ni caen especialmente bien.
Lo he leído únicamente porque figura como relato en medio de Cuando tú llegaste y Sueño contigo porque hay una secuencia en la que sale Derek Craven, que obviamente es lo mejor.

Too much story crammed into too little space. The heroine starts this in love with another man and must fall out of love with him and meet and fall in love with the hero in a short novella format and, while some moments between them are well-written, the whole feels awkward and unconvincing. To make matters worse, Kleypas tries to shoe horn a secondary romance into the mix and that fails also.

Este relato pertenece a la antología “Tres bodas y un beso”.
Lidian Acland es una joven que cree que ha encontrado al amor de su vida, un joven extrovertido que ha logrado encandilarla: Chance Spencer. Tanto es así que Lidian descarta a otros posibles candidatos para el matrimonio hasta que conoce a Eric de Gray, un noble que desprecia a los de su clase.
Siendo una historia tan corta es normal que encontremos puntos en los que no se llegue a desarrollar a los personajes pero creo que la autora lo logra con bastante facilidad.

Este relato corto de Kleypas lo leí con otros en la antología «Tres bodas y un beso». Lo sitúan como la historia n.º 3 de la serie Gamblers of Craven’s (Jugadores). Lidian Acland, una chica de campo, entregó su corazón al canalla de Chance y, un año después, aún espera a que él vuelva del continente a cumplir con ella. Por eso no le hace caso a Eric de Gray, un apuesto (y rico) noble que se ha convertido en el soltero de la temporada. Yo creo que por eso se ha fijado en Lidian, porque es la única que no le presta atención. Esta es una de esas historias de los noventa en las que aún asoma la cabecita el macho alfa avasallador que besa y toca sin pedir permiso. Una historia de amor secundaria tiene cierto interés. Yo no sé si es porque está junto a una muy buena de Loretta Chase que, por contraste, esta historia me pareció «mñé», como que le faltaba un hervor.

July 22, 2024Bueno acabo de terminarlo y solo lo leí porque era parte de mi serie jugadores yo recién me enteré que existía 😳 no me cambio la vida 🤨 Lidian y Erik estaban en plan yo te quiero pero tú no a mí un insta love intenso más unas declaraciones apresuradas y obvio hubo resentimientos totales.
Hubo final feliz obvio pero no me emociono, a su vez tuvo también un mini segundo romance que si tuvo más sentido que el primero, al final solo me emociono que salga mi Derek Craven por minutos obviamente antes de ser reformado 🫣 o mejor dicho que se enamore 😍

I read this Novella on a flight to Steamy Lit Con, and the interesting thing about reading a 1995 novella with a Derek Craven appearance (minor secondary character) is that I’m going to see the Fated Mates Pod hosts Sarah MacLean and Jen Propkop at this event! One extra star ⭐️ for Derek Craven’s appearance and the reference to him being “born in the gutter”.
I am not always won-over by a romance novella. I think they are incredibly difficult to write convincingly. Sadly, in this case, I did not like the FMC, Lidian nor the MMC Eric De Gray as a couple. It’s a pacing problem.
It’s not easy to start with a meet cute and move a couple the entire way through to an HEA in a novella and here, the FMC spends 90% of the book waiting for her lost love while simultaneously building a friendship with the MMC. They needed more time, Lidian sounds so young this premise could’ve been a YA yet it’s not and it’s a historical to boot.

This was part of an anthology called "Three Weddings And A Kiss". It actually wasn't the worst story in the book, that honor went to Kathleen Woodiwiss of all people.
This is very early LK - 1995.
Not part of any of her series, though Derek Craven makes a couple of appearances. This story is kind of bland, but hey! It's written by LK, so it's still not bad.
Lidean is a proper Regency miss, who fell in love with Chance over a year ago. He wanted to go adventuring, so he took off after asking Lidean to "wait for him". Her mother is in despair & accepts an invitation from a friend to stay at her mansion for the season. Her friends son is our hero - Eric. It doesn't take Eric too long before Lidean is thinking of him instead of Chance. Of course Chance shows up again to cause trouble.

This is a great book. It has everything Kleypas has her readers accustomed to —a strong female lead with her own mind, a dazzling hero that is more than he seems, skillfully crafted surroundings and interesting side plots. All wrapped up in the historical context this author is known for filling with oh so much passion!
Five stars. I would have liked for the pages to last longer, so I could have stayed a bit more with the characters. If there ever is anything else related to this story, if Lisa wants to gift us another look at what’s been hinted here, I will definitely read it.
This is a standalone, but it gave me great joy to savor the details that were placed in sprinkles here and there specifically for Lisa Kleypas’ throughout fans like myself.

Многу го сакам стилот на пишување на романси на Лиса Клејпас. Но, на жалост оваа книга беше комплетно збиена во 90-тина страни и се чувствував додека читав како да можела и повеќе да напише но не е. Историска романса каде маж со титула и пари се интересира за девојка Лидијан која нема многу, а е заљубена во друг и ветила дека ќе го чека. Тој сака да и докаже дека не е заљубена во другиот како што мисли и многу малку настани водат до дејствијата каде што таа се заљубува во Ерик де Греј, а и тој во неа. Имам импресија како да читам романче од трафика, кое нели има приказна збиена во мини 100 страни.

A pesar de ser una historia muy pero muy cortita me pareció muy linda, te hace suspirar y yo la disfruté, fue muy al estilo de Kleypas, llena de sentimientos lindos, aunque por ser corta también tiene sus desventajas porque pasan cosas muy a la ligera, los personajes son lindos pero es muy poco lo que se conoce de ellos y de su personalidad, sin embargo pasaré esto por alto porque la historia es corta pero la da y así tenían que ser las cosas.

I liked this one. It felt a bit rushed in some places but overall it was good. It says it's part of the Gambler series but Derek only makes a very small appearance.

Relato que me ha gustado. Los protagonistas tienen una historia bonita y que no le ha faltado nada. Incluso en pocas páginas me parecen buenas sus historias 😍.

3,7 Lidian está enamorada de un hombre que le pidió que lo esperara mientras viajaba por Europa, cuándo conoce a Eric. Decidido él queda impactado por su sonrisa (siempre tan instant love) La persigue mientras averigua por su enamorado que no es ningún caballero y no era nada de lo que ella creía. Eric debe desenmascararlo y conquistarla.
Eric es el segundo hijo que hereda luego de la muerte de su hermano. Ahora todas las muchachas que no lo miraban, lo desean.
Él ve como Lidian consuela a su debutante hermana por una mancha en su vestido y le da el único adorno del anticuado que ella llevaba, una orquídea.
Él se acerca y le pide un baile que no puede rechazar. Ella le deja claro que espera a otro hombre, aunque él ya había sido advertido por sus conocidos que, además de eso, ella no tenía dote. A él no le importa pues es lo que le pasaba antes a él.
Su madre insiste en que acuda a los bailes y escribe a su amiga madre de Eric que la invita a su casa de Londres en vez de que alquile algún lugar.
A regañadientes pero cumpliendo un castigo, Eric la vuelve a besar y ella comienza a olvidar a su Chance.
Eric averigua que Chance está de juerga en Londres y se lo hace saber a Lidia que no le cree y va a encontrarlo al club de juego para verlo ok sus propios ojos.
Se desengaña y empieza a darse cuenta que no era lo que había idealizado.
Es la que Eric la lleva a una fiesta clandestina encapuchada y a escondidas. Ella ve gente besándose apasionadamente y se avergüenza. Él juega para ella y gana un silbato:
—Ahora, cada vez que silbe, usted tendrá que obedecer a mi llamada—dijo Lidian riendo. De Gray sonrió y practicó una breve reverencia.—Cuando sea, mi señora.
Es la que los invitan a una fiesta con búsqueda del tesoro y la hermana de Eric encuentra la joya. Allí Chance la aborda para explicarse y ella lo desaíra.
Eric lo echa y la regaña por desperdiciar sus lágrimas. Ella le reconoce que ahora no confía en su propio juicio. Él le confiesa su amor cuando luego aparece la hermana del él.
Es la que Holly es secuestrada por Chance para arruinarla y que Eric debiera retarlo a duelo porque se sabía vencedor. Pero Eric logra alcanzarlos en el carruaje y lo agarra a trompadas para evitar el escándalo y que Holly saliera mal parada.
Ambos se casan y su madre se casa con Garret el tío de Eric que perdió a su amor de toda la vida y se había vuelto resentido, alcohólico y cínico, pero que Elizabeth consigue ablandar.

Lidian Ancland es una joven que ha entregado su corazón, lastimosamente el dueño de sus afectos quien le hizo promesas en vano no tiene ninguna disposición en cumplirlas. Por otro lado, Eric, el soltero más solicitado de la temporada a fijado sus ojos en ella y su rechazo no hace más que avivar su deseo. Después de abrirle los ojos y mostrarle que ese amor que ella alberga no es correspondido, empieza a tratar de ganarse su favor.
Punto bueno de la historia: QUE LO HAGAN ANTES DE CASARSE- Jajaja-. Fue un toque original en estas historias. (?
