Nick and Riley seem destined for each other, if only they realized their mutual attraction.
Computer tech geek, Nick, can’t seem to kick his crush on his straight neighbor, Riley. After six months of living next door to each other, he finally accepts his best friend’s offer to set him up on a date to get over his unrequited love.
Angel Falls detective, Riley, just came out of a bad relationship and isn’t ready to risk his heart again. But he can’t help the feelings developing for his neighbor, Nick, or the push from his partner to confess his attraction. Everything changes, though, after he sees Nick with a new guy, and Riley realizes he may have hidden his feelings too well, costing him a chance with the man he loves.
Despite Nick’s new relationship, Riley can’t deny the feeling that every time they’re near each other, the air seems to sizzle. Is Nick not as committed to his new boyfriend as Riley thinks?
When Nick is attacked his apartment, will it be the final push to bring them together? Or will it drive them apart?
I liked it, but I didn't love it. It wasn't until 80% of the book before the MCS really started acting on their feelings. That was way too long for me. It would've been different if the book was longer, but that wasn't the case here. I needed less pining and more actual relationship time.
I really like the premise of this story and generally enjoyed the two main characters. We don't really get to spend too much time watching them interact, but get to see enough of their internal thought processes to be rooting for them.
My main issue was with Nick's relationship; it made me generally uncomfortable for both Nick and Gio and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable read. .
I am intrigued, but also a little disturbed, at the set-up for what I presume (and hope?) will be a sequel between Gio and Jay. I think the story could be really beautifully done with Jay's obvious internal struggle, but the brief interaction between them reeked of emotional, if not physical, abuse and I'm a little worried Lin would romanticize it a-la 50 shades rather than handle it healthily.
Next door neighbors Nick and Riley hit it off from the very beginning. Each night they meet up on their balconies and end up talking for hours. A techie and a detective; they don't seem to be a match but in fact they are perfect. It's the best part of their day and both look forward to it. But after six months of crushing on his neighbor, Nick realizes that he can't be 'that man' who is hung up on a straight friend, so he agrees to be set up on a date. However, Riley is interested, only scared after ending his last relationship. Once he sees Nick with another man, he realizes his fears may have cost him his chance with Nick. Still, the men can't seem to get the other out of their minds and when Riley finds Nick injured and unconscious in their hallway, everything becomes clear.
Nick and Riley are fantastic. I love that we got the dual POV. Their friendship, their attraction is so natural. You can't help but root for these guys. The frustration, tension, and anticipation kept me 100% invested in these two and their story. Hot, hot, hot. Honestly, I would have liked more. It would have been great to see Riley flourish in a healthy relationship. Loved the side characters, Nick's best friend and brother and Riley's partner. I was not a fan of Gio until the breakup. Now I look forward to his story with Jason. I hope they get their second chance.
This was a sweet love story with typical miscommunication issues. The M/M aspect lends a new perspective on this scenario. I love that their respect give besties are there for them with no qualms. In my.opinio , they both rescued each other. Of course I love the set up for the next book. We could have done without the cliffhanger, but we now have the perfect lead in and I suspect this will be a fun read when it is ready.
Wow, wow. Wow, ladies and gentlemen, make sure you grab yourself a fan, because you will need one. Hot geeky guys with hot cop! Yesss, what could be better? Nothing, besides adding romance between them! I love that this doesn't start with them jumping in bed together, actually it takes until near the for them to be physically together. It was a great story and I absolutely loved it!!
This is the second book by Desi Lin I've read and I must say Saving Him was a great M/M romance. It was well written with interesting characters. The story line is nice with romance and some action. A promising start to a new series. I'm looking forward to the next book.
