"Death is just a disease... and I have the cure." Beckett knows he should ignore the ignominious words of a previously unknown pastor that find their way into his inbox. He also knows that it's not just the wrath of a man in cloth he risks infuriating should he decide to investigate, but changing his vacation is guaranteed to piss off his girlfriend, Suzan Cuthbert. But extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and Beckett refuses to let anyone make a mockery of his profession, especially not a snake oil salesman sporting a glorified nightie. Beckett may have lost his faith years ago and has since done things that have landed him on the permanent naughty list. But that wont stop him from extracting his particular brand of justice, should the need arise. And it will... because trouble seems to follow the good doctor around like the plague. "If death is just a disease, then I'm the definitive host." Beckett's back, baby, and it's time for a new tattoo. Unless, of course, the Almighty chooses to intervene. True story: I used to cut up bodies. No, not for fun, you sickos–for work. After reaching the age of majority and fleeing the clutches of an overprotective mother, I went to university like a good boy.
More than a decade later and an alphabet soup of letters after my name, I found myself looking down the double-chamber of a microscope at an eyeball. Feeling ironically introspective, I decided that it was time for a change.
After seventy plus novels and more than a million copies sold, I’ve found my true calling, one that also includes a plethora of letters. Hopefully you see something in my catalog that you like, something to feast your eyes on.
I also have two spooky podcasts that are appropriate for ALL ages, so long as you like to be scared: P.T. Logan's Five Minutes of Terror and Camp Fear. Both are FREE and available on all podcast platforms. For MATURE audiences, I've created two fiction podcasts, Nightmare Residue and Bad Priest.

Oh my, Beckett's world is crumbling - he's made mistakes and they are being brought to light. Reading the Damien Drake series I knew that Vasic had gone all gung ho on proving Beckett's guilt but wasn't given any insight into it. This story had my attention right from word one until the end. I knew that when he killed Bob it was going to bite him in the ass. Now, Wayne??? Also, apart from the obvious something is really wrong with Beckett. The headaches, weight loss, etc. Of course being a doctor doesn't make a difference - they make the worst patients don't they. Beckett's sense of humour is something else at times - his crazy antics. Suzan is one special person for putting up with him at times. The Reverend and his wife are a real piece of work. The subject is really conflicting for me. On the one hand you have Beckett who has taken it upon himself to rid the world of scumbags that otherwise are skirting the law or getting off on technicalities....well most of them anyway. On the other hand its just outright murder. Have to get to reading the next in line to see what the hell happens after that ending.
On this second book of the series (third if you count "Bitter End", and you should), our hero Dr. Beckett Campbell (well, technically we shouldn't call him hero, after all he's a murderer, even if he only kills bad guys!) goes on a well deserved vacation! Suzan wanted to go to Montreal, but Beckett insists on heading south in order to meet a preacher that claims to cure death with his divine touch and pray. The preacher was a doctor and genetic exams prove that a young girl with cystic fibrosis is now free of that disease... how can this be? As a Medical Examiner, Beckett will not rest until he solves this mystery, specially after looking into the preacher's eyes, seeing nothing more than pure evil.
Meanwhile in NY, the police is looking for a missing suspect of the murder and rape of a young boy, but the investigation leads nowhere... how could it? The guy isn't missing, he's dead - Beckett kills him with a scalpel on Chapter 1. During all the book we have the two parallel in interpolated chapters, something that is sometimes annoying, but in this case it works perfectly!
What a great ride - this is probably my favorite so far - good pace, great story, lots of laughs and thrills... a awesome thriller with probably the best cliffhanger I've ever seen. Well, let's go for the next one then, I have to know what happens next!
As ME, Beckett Campbell gets himself in odd circumstances executing his own rough justice on criminals who managed to beat the system. His girlfriend, Susan, has been a part of a past session of retribution, but she is not aware of a current injustice Beckett is fighting as she insists that he must take a short vacation. Of course Dr. Campbell's curiosity embroils him in a scheme to uncover the quasi miraculous cures performed by a former doctor now minister/healer. Beckett discovers how the fraud is perpetrated and performs his own brand of justice in those responsible for tormenting a dying girl so the good reverend can read the rewards he has really earned.
I couldn’t put this book down! I got to the end and I’m hanging on the edge of the cliff.
While Beckett is still handing out his own brand of justice to the worst criminals, I think there is something else going on in his head. He made a mistake this time…..a big one. He either cleaned his own mess up and doesn’t remember or Susan cleaned up after him! I can’t wait to read the next book!
This was an excellent book 2.. of course many would frown on anything challenging the religious aspects, but I am a person who says, “ok, prove it” too.
I will also note that I’m thankful the next book is already out as I am not a fan of cliffhangers and boy was there ever a cliffhanger to end this book!! Keep writing and I will keep reading!! 😂
Doctor Beckett Campbell will stop at nothing to make evil pay. But how long can he get away with it? He knows that the Police will eventually catch up with him but until then he will continue to get justice for the victims but did he kill an innocent man this time? A great read.
I was skeptical about this series at first, thinking it was just a ripoff of the “Dexter” series....(serial killer who only kills other serial killers...). But I’ve grown fond of Dr Campbell and am rooting for him. These are definitely a twist on the police procedural/thriller genre. Give them a try.

Patrick does it yet again! I honestly do not even know why I am even surprised anymore. I literally stopped reading another book I was almost finished reading when I realized this came out. I finished this is one sitting, I simply couldn't put it down!
I LOVE Patrick Logan’s books. I’m just sad I have to wait for the third book. The writing, the characters, and story lines have me hooked from page one. Please keep writing. 😊
A gritty, intense, fast-paced, riveting, artful melding of stunning psychological thrills and nail-biting suspense. An edgy mystery full of dark secrets, shocking plot twists and pulse-pounding, palpable tension. This book brings it ALL!
I am absolutely enjoying these books with Beckett and Suzan. I love what they get themselves into, but, I am wondering when Suzan is going to find out what Beckett has been doing behind her back. That will be very interesting, can't wait!!!!
I love this series. After getting to know Beckett from other series it’s great to have his own. It was hard to put this one down. It was definitely on the edge of your seat reading. Loved it.
I have already read all these books and been waiting so long for the next one of the series. And finally there is one! So I'm reading these all again so I'm ready for the new one! Love that Beckett guy!!!
Have read them all in less than month and can not wait for the next one. Love how all the characters cross paths and are involved in their own series...
Beckett is one of my favorite characters and following his journey has been a hell of a ride. Cannot wait to see what happens with Beckett. You following?
