The English painter Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) was one of the most important landscape painters of the 19th century. His topographical views, watercolors and romantic seascapes are all research on the atmosphere of a landscape that he worked throughout his life to dissolve in light and color, until he evolved towards abstraction.
