Dawn of Mayhem

Rate this book
we live in a cold world. we shouldn't have to convince people to be kind. we shouldn't have to remind them to love. we are surrounded by humans with no humanity. by lovers who don't know how to love. by leaders who cannot lead and by preachers who hold no gospel to preach. by artist who do not understand their art. and by brothers and sisters who neglect their families. this is how it burns. this is how it ends. this is how we evolve out of touch. out of soul. our brains are wired and our hearts are slowly eaten away. the world is cold and we are getting colder... and the wars are spreading faster and the injustice is becoming more of the norm. the killings and the murders. and the fighters and the lovers. we stay. we stay. we stay. and all of us remain and all of us are still and all of us search for the truth of light… of the dying light. of the dying word. we live in a cold world, there's no doubt about it but we shouldn't have to convince each other that we are worthy of love. this is the dawn of mayhem.

sometimes i feel like this writer is the most pretentious man in the world. but like i always say, rating/reviewing poetry always feels WEIRD. it’s all subjective and, as a writer myself, i cannot, in good conscience, make assumptions about another human being speaking their own truth in their own work. but sometimes- damn 😐 …anyway, here is an excerpt i enjoyed from DAWN OF MAYHEM:

“I am strong and through my journey
I will find the boiling sun.
And it will burn in my hand but it will not cause me harm.
It will not bolster nightmares and dead stars.
It will not expand to horrors but lessons and growth and gifts from the gods themselves.
This is now...
If there is a space within me, it is full of movement
and it is full of space dust and the chaos of life.
The chaos of wanting more of wanting to become new.
I am more.
I am blessed.
I have a sack full of air in my lungs.
And I couldn't ask for more.
Not today or tomorrow
because the future belongs to me.
My life belongs to me.
My thoughts.
My feelings.
My fears and my joys.
They all belong to me”

He had me until he mentioned the "vaccines causing autism" and "man and woman only" poem. Then I wanted to throw the book across the room.
There are some decent ones in here, hence the three stars, but the more I read the more I realized how pretentious this man is.
Probably won't be reading any more by him after this one.
