I'm pissed, what the heck was that ending??? Last 5 chapters were a mess in my opinion, very rushed. As for the other 600 chapters, it was good but I constantly felt so mad for yuhao because omg he needs emotional support. All I wanted was for him to lash out at everyone around him. The amount of pressure put on him and he wasn't even 20 yet the majority of the book. He was single handedly leading the military, protecting the empire, running an academy, he's been an orphan since he was 7, don't get me started on Tang San in this book, I hate him, the only reason I kept reading is cause he was not rlly in the book, only the last few chapters. But half of yuhao problems were tang San fault!!! It was so stupidly childish and honestly cruel of him.
I'm ranting now but I feel very strongly about this. Yuhao suffered that whole book but he always held in his pain so much so that the second someone would hug him or show human decency, he would break down into tears. And I'm sitting here like "do none of you idiots see the amount of pressure he's under???" they're constantly like " oh you need to get stronger to defend the empire? Like ma'am he's 15!???! WHY DONT YOU PROTECT THE EMPIRE HUH. They just sat and let it happen. he did not have a childhood. Isn't that so sad?? And the whole thing with wutong was a mess as well I'm not even gonna get into that.
Now I'm gonna cry, poor yuhao
I guess I should say some good things now, the story was very interesting and well put together for the most part. It honestly isn't bad, I'm just very emotional lol
I would give the second book in the Soul Land series a rating of around 4.5 stars when compared to the author's first book, Soul Land (Douluo Dalu). One of the aspects I particularly enjoyed was the main character's growth and development throughout the story. Yuhao's transformation from a zero to a hero was captivating, showcasing his resilience and genuine compassion.
However, there were certain parts of the book that involved the protagonist from the first series, a character I hold very dear, and I wasn't quite satisfied with how he was portrayed in this second series. The choices he made and his behavior felt shallow, selfish, and even childish, despite the explanation provided at the end of the book. As his die-hard fan, I was disappointed to see this deviation from his original portrayal.
Moreover, I have some reservations about Yuhao's other half. Instead of being a source of blessing, she seemed more like a harbinger of disaster for poor Yuhao. I struggled to see any positive influence she brought into his life. In contrast, the other devoted girl who is willing to die for him appears to be a better partner and more deserving of his love. The dismissive explanation about this wonderful girl at the end of the book also left me feeling unhappy and even saddened, as if she was conveniently erased from the picture. It was quite perplexing why the author chose to include this unnecessary information. In my view, it would have been better to leave it out, as the story had already reached a suitable closure without it.
For now, I've decided to take a break from this series, but I do plan to return for the next book when I feel ready. I've heard that the protagonist from the first book will also appear in the third book, and I hope the author does justice to that character in the upcoming installment. It's disheartening to witness him acting so out of character in this current book. Overall, I have mixed feelings about The Unrivalled Tang Sect, but I remain hopeful for the future of the series.

I love many of the characters, but I really wish that Huo YuHao had not picked Tang WuTong as the love of his life. She is really really not on par with him. Wang Qiu, Ma Xiao Tao, heck Ju Zi - anyone of them 3 is a better fit. Wutong is just a privileged little girl who gets her powers from her privileged birth and from her long-suffering boyfriend. This feels so wrong. Especially since Huo YuHao is a rags to power kind of hero. And the way her dad abused him, jeez that really made me re-rate my beloved Tang San from Soul Land. How could he not recognised YuHao's love for his daughter after all he had gone through with Xiao Wu?
It gets four stars from me because of the other characters. Super awesome. But the love story is crappy.

I've watched Soul Land multiple times. When I came across this series I was excited bc I love the Shrek Seven. The series did not disappoint. On a personal level I didn't like the addition of Qui'er or how my long time favorite character, Tang San, treated Huo Yuhao. Despite my disdain for love triangles I enjoyed this series. I'm glad I found it. I'm grateful it was translated to English. Wonderful read!
