COOPER Cooper is shocked when Sonnie walks into the firm. He recognizes her face from the back of his daughter’s favorite books. They install a security system for her and he thinks he won’t see her again. An emergency call comes in one night and he rushes over to her house to find her roughed up and terrified. Thrust together, it’s hard for them both to ignore the attraction that grows between them with each passing moment. Things only intensify and then a body is found in town that threatens to bring down the firm. Will Cooper help keep Sonnie’s head above water or will they all sink together?
BRANSON Elizabeth Shore made the simple mistake of going back to work late one night. Instead of getting her work done, though, she caught her boss spread eagle on the conference room table with a stunning man between her legs. Freaked out, she fled the scene before being spotted. No one seemed any the wiser about what she’d seen and things went back to normal. Until she saw the man’s face in the newspaper a few days later. Dead.
Branson has his hands full. He’s working on a case for a local celebrity and trying to figure things out with another brother from SEAL Team Two. The last thing he needs is the seemingly ball-buster Elizabeth on his back. There’s something about her that gets under his skin and it’s not just the way her eyes trail over his damaged skin with interest instead of horror or pity.
TUCKER Local internet celebrity Charlie Crier has had a stalker for so long that it’s almost normal at this point. Her manager brought in security part time when it first started, but Charlie hates it. She needs time to herself. It’s hard to work with people around. Not to mention, she has an act to keep up. Charlotte Crier-Banks is freaking Martha Stuart, if Martha Stuart lived in Arkansas and hated her life. With a forced and fake family, and a set instead of a home, she’s close to her breaking point.
Tucker Fields is about as classy as a Budweiser at a dirt track race. Raised in the swamps, he’s more animal than man some days. Sure, he’s refined his act some, but he still eats over the kitchen sink and doesn’t put the toilet seat down. He’s not big on prissy ladies, either. He knows women like Charlotte are too much work. But with Branson working another case and the guys all tied up, worrying about Mercer, when Charlie’s stalker gets too close for comfort and her manager decides to play it up, Tucker has no choice but to become her full-time guard.
VINCE Vince Hart is no stranger to killing men. There’s something dark in him that feeds on it. He’s bored with civilian life and lives life a little like an adventure junkie. Hook-ups, taking chances, adventure trips, anything to quiet the ghosts. He doesn’t think he could ever settle down, but watching all of his brothers do it makes him feel a little envious. He figures he’ll just live until he dies and be better for it. He’ll never have to lose anyone like Luke again. He’s broken from it.
MERCER Mercer Dunn has spent time in prison before. One much worse than whatever they could offer in their sleepy little town. He still won’t go back, though. On the run and away from all the family he’s ever known, he ends up at the little hunting spot that Luke kept hidden away while he was alive. With his skills, he could easily hide and live out the rest of his life there. He’d have everything he needed but the one thing he seemed weak to. Lauren. She was all wrong for him. She was his brother’s baby sister. They’d rescued her from bad places more than once.
The price alone is with this set. Some books are better than others, but I encourage you to buy this set. Part 1 Wow, Sonnie sure had a creeper for a husband. It is hard to understand how someone can be so nice and then turn out to be the opposite. Sonnie is so nice and gentle. She writes children books and keeps to herself. When her soon to be ex starts scaring her, BlackbDog Security starts protecting her. Sonnie and Cooper are attracted to each other. Cooper has an ex and a daughter. His daughter is a sweetheart and his ex is a witch. Then we have Sonnie’s soon to be ex trying to do horrible things to her. It was a book that definitely kept me on my feet. I encourage you to read it.
Part 2 This book wasn’t as good as the first book for me. Elizabeth is a red head with a temper. Tempers can be good and bad. She also says what she thinks which gets her in trouble a few times. She sees something bad one of the owners is doing and after working herself up, she decides to do something about it. Lauren introduces her to Branson from the security company for advice. He thinks she is a little crazy, but he is attracted to her. I felt bad that he had scars on his face and part of his body and didn’t think a woman would get past the scars to ever love him. The two have a funny relationship. He is always trying to keep Elizabeth out of trouble.
Part 3 In the last book, Branson was the person watching Charlotte (Charlie) and told everyone what a with she is. Since he went to help Elizabeth, Tucker was assigned as her bodyguard. Tucker liked to mess with her and get her riled. He didn’t like John who was her husband nor Gerald who was her manager. I don’t blame him as they were both cruel to her. I couldn’t imagine how much they made her work and how she was able to do it all. I didn’t understand at first why she let them bully her like they did. I was glad to see that Tucker thought there was something funny between the two. With someone threatening to kill Charlie, I was glad Tucker is there for her. I liked how the two started liking each other and became friends. I liked the book and encourage you to read it.
Part 4 This has been my favorite book so far. It is exciting and I couldn’t figure out what was going to happen next. Vince is messed up like the other guys and swears he will never settle down. He sees Cookie at a strip club and can’t stay away from her. She is saving to get her own place and to stop stripping. Something awful happens and someone is out to kill her. Vince decides he is going to protect her, but it doesn’t always go as planned. I encourage you to read the book.
Part 5 This was my favorite book out of all of them. We got bits and pieces about Lauren and Mercer throughout the other books. Mercer is the leader of all of the guys, but the most messed up by what happened to them all and losing Luke. Lauren has been in love with Mercer since his accident and she nursed him back. I hated how mean he is to her. I understand he doesn’t think he is good enough for her, but I still hated how he treated her. Someone has been trying to frame him for the murder of his ex girlfriend from when he was overseas. I loved how Lauren was determined to prove his innocence. There were some exciting things happening throughout the book. I loved how all the wives/girlfriends stood behind Lauren. I strongly encourage you to read this book.
This is a great boxed set of ex deals who FrancIsco Dog to protect others in need. Each of these guys are not and there women are strong and needs protection and these guys served and protect.
Book 1 2.5 Stars Cooper a veteran with PTSD starts a security firm with guys he served with.
Sonnie is going through a divorce and her ex refuses to let her go.
This is the start to a book with a storyline I love; but it fell a little short. One psycho ex and the other ex is manipulative so we have a little too much ex drama; could have done with just one ex. She spends most of the last three chapters crying and does the too dumb to live move at the end. Then it just ends without enough resolution.
Book 2 2 Stars
Timeline is within days of book one’s ending.
At chapter six and the main characters haven’t met yet.
Elizabeth has gotten to be one of the most immature heroines out there. NDA aside how about an anonymous tip to the police. At what point does a person with no skills quit trying to be a PI.
Branson is a freakin saint to put up with her hijinks; I would have run fast if I was him.
Book 3 2.5 Stars
Southern Martha Stewart needs a bodyguard and Tucker is the only one available. You can’t find two people more opposite than these guys. Tucker is a pretty happy guy enjoys his job and the women he picks up. Charlotte is miserable plain and simple. #1 Fire the manager? #2 Get a DIVORCE? # 3 consult a lawyer? #4 Are all the cops totally incompetent?
And the issue with Mercer is getting old; enough already I almost dread his book already.
Book 4 2.5 Stars Lord where to even start, stripper saving so she won’t have to strip anymore; ex soldier with issues. A lap dance that changes everything?
A mob boss wanting vengeance and more of the keystone cops; the H insisting he’s no good yada yada.
Book 5 3 Stars
Since Mercer’s problems started in book one I was a little tired of it before I even started. This one has a little more meat to it although H is still an ass.
Quick resolution that was OK but since we have so little interaction with the bad guys there was really very little depth to the ending.
Finding new authors is great fun. Reading foul language is not. This set is full of foul language. I keep a list of authors who cannot write cleanly and know enough words to not use foul language. This author is on that list. Do not read these books unless you like foul language.
DNF. Got through the first 3 books and I just can’t any more. I mean 20 days I’ve been working on reading this book and I’m not even 1/2 way through.
1st book: Really that’s how your going to end this book. Not very romantic/sexy/HEA. Just throwing up in a toilet.
2nd book: happening only a few days after book 1 ends but no real transition into the book just bam your there. The characters actually don’t meet each other till chapter 6. And Elizabeth is a bitch/idiot/stupid/most unlikeable character.
3rd book: I’m sorry but Charlotte there is always a way out of your contract your (gay) husband and manager are abusive. Now part of the book I beloved here manager was just himself but it’s actually an agency he worked for, why not go to the agency and ask for a new agent, explain what’s going on. Not only that buts she’s only a “local celebrity”. No one gives a crap that much about “local celebrities” that you need to lie like you have.
As much as I would like to find out who and why Mercer is being set up I think I’m going to pass.
Wow this box set was truly an amazing read. I haven't heard of this author before and i was stalking amazon looking for my next read when i came across this box set and read the blurb it sounded alright so thought I'd give it a go. I'm so glad i did i read the five books one after the other and loved everyone of them . Each book was a story about the black dog security men . All navy seals and all brothers in arms . Each of the men have a verying degree of PTSD from their time over seas and are all scard in one way shape or form. Each book was about the men and the women they come to guard and the trouble that they seemed to get them selves into. Each story was different but encorporated the men into saving the day. The stories themselves were concise and kept you wanting to know what happend next . I will definitely be reading more from this author Camilla Blake .
** I will adjust my rating and I finish each story in this series. **
The first story was Jake, Sonnie, Connor and Lilah's story along with the rest of the gang from Black Dog Security; Lauren, Mercer, Tucker, Vince and Branson. This story was good. It had it's funny, sweet, steamy and suspense filled moments but it was also slow at times. Sonnie wants a divorce from her ex Jake but he isn't having it at all. She has something he wants and he's determined to get it even if it kills her. Connor and Lilah have no love between them but they do love their daughter Macey. Macey is his world and Lilah knows what buttons to push. Connor does what he needs to but Lilah attitude is hateful and spiteful all the time. I enjoy Connor and Sonnie together, it's just too bad that the ending of their story was rushed.
This is my first read of Camilla Blake. Hot guys, yes. Hot strong independent women, yes. Hot sex, yes. Tick, tick, tick. But what a bumbling fumbling bunch of security people. I'm amazed they even made a living. As each man meets his equal there is Mercer and Lauren in the background, him dealing with being suspected of murder as well as trying not to break the brother code of not touching his dead friends sister. Lauren having had to deal with the loss of her brother, dealing with being an ex-addict, and loving a man who thinks he is less than. The stories aren't heart thumping, or blood pumping but they do have their dark moments. I also love that not everyone has money or fantastic jobs.
No plot spoilers No potential triggers There is some swearing and there are some sex scenes. There are some errors but not enough to detract from the story. I paid less than a pound for the series, and I am happy to find I more than got my moneys worth! The characterisation is good, enough to draw you in and keep you turning the pages. The plotline is engaging and runs through the series to its culmination in the last book. Although there are some sex scenes it's worth noting that it's usually one per book and lightly written. Likewise with the swearing, it isn't even in every chapter. If you are a fan of the genre I have no problem recommending the series.
I chose this rating because this was a really great book. I really enjoyed most of the characters. These were a extra special guys special forces black ops. They met and protected some special women as well. Each guy had their own story. Each book was very interesting. I really enjoyed this series about Black Dog Security. If you wanted their protection they were there regardless as to how serious or dangerous the consequences were. But in this series each guy have their own set of problems. They also had women that had their backs they met during their jobs. Great reading. Great series. I recommend these books, this series to all romance readers.
Good read. Five stories bundled together, but could be stand alone books. The guys are former SEALs who band together to form security service named after an old black dog that just happened along. Extra bodies showing up. Their new ladies are as different as night and day. One writes children's books who got roughed up; one is the Martha Stewart type of Arkansas with a manager who's getting greedy; one is a stripper who shot the mob boss' son; one left her phone at work and went to retrieve and may have witnessed co-worker killed; and the other lady is the office manger of Black Dog Security who is trying to find out who framed their boss with a murder ten years before.
I truly enjoyed this series. I would read one book straight through saying that I would save the next book for another day, that never happened. I love the way Ms. Blake writes, the way she draws you into the different characters until you know them well. They were a family and when you're done reading you feel as if you are a part of them. This was very well done and I'm going straight to the store for another of her books
Love all the characters in the stories.. The guys were more real because most men really try and fight it when they meet that woman that is the one. They run and hide it try to push them away. That is real life. I love the women in the stories because each of them were strong and met their adversary head on. They stepped up and did what had to be done. These stories are real life.
The men in this box set are amazing. The women in the first three books are whiny and bitchy. I don't like weak females. But the men sell these stories. Also they end abruptly with no epilogue. It sucks. These books need a follow up book for the happy ever after they get. Not sure if there is one a Ready or not. I wouldn't recommend this as a must read. I was disappointed.
I loved these women! When I read Sonnie's story I laughed out loud. Charlie,Elizabeth,Cookie, and Lauren were the strongest and most devoted women you could ever want. They all had a story and a wicked sense of humor. The men were beyond sexy. The were tough and they stood by their women with a fierceness that would melt most opponents. Bad guys, good guy, twists, turns, and just in time rescues. These stories had it all.
It's been a while since I've read some MF romance I enjoyed....and this ticked all the boxes😍
Camilla is a new author for me and I'm so happy I found her. I cried, laughed, got angry, got frustrated and felt happy for each couple and their journey.
A must read for someone looking for inner strength, compassion, fiery love and sassy banter
These guys will draw you in with their charm. Their women help change them from the inside out and give them a reason to believe in love. Courage is the foundation of each woman and her warrior. Nightmares look back-love looks forward... Enjoy the journey that cements these lives in a new and promising future.
The first book was very good, but I hated the ending! It was abrupt and left me wishing for more romantic and story development. It also had no transition to the next book. As such, I decided to move on to another book, and shelve this one for the time being.
THIS should be made into a television series. The script should progress EXACTLY as written. Each of the five parts could take a whole season, then after each personal story is told more of the outside duties could be emphasized, with the business branching out with private detective services.
Wow this series gives you everything! The characters were well developed and the story lines flowed effortlessly. Not sure if Vince or Merce was my favorite- yikes. My favorite leading lady hands down was Lauren!! It was worth the sleepless night to get thru all 5! So worth the read
I absolutely love each one of these stories! Each one moved me in a delightful way. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the abrupt endings of each story. Thank goodness the previous characters are included in each book. Still really enjoyed the set of books and recommend you read them!
A series of stories about men and women associated with Black Dog Security. Each story covers the live and love of one particular member; his adventures as private security, his personal demons, struggling relationships and finally how he attains personal happiness.
I smiled. I even cried at one point. I recently cheered. It isn't a perfect book because of some rushed parts but you can get past that. It is an adventure romance. You hate the bad guys even when you know who they are. Low on the mistakes, each story had a level 8/9 heat scene, and there were promised of babies and weddings.
WOW ! This Black Dog Security gets my vote for being the best "security" around. Each of the seals are unique in their own way, never looking, but each finding a woman who can stand up to each one of these hunky seals. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS 5 PART SERIES... ( BONUS: IT'S ALL IN ONE BOOK)!!!!!
Really really enjoyed this boxset although if I'm totally honest and know Author's say they want honest reviews I hate to hurt anyone's feelings but the last book took so long to get into the good and bad bits I was getting bored and ready to close it BUT I'd bear with it as its brilliant x
I absolutely enjoyed this boxset that introduced us to all the alpha heroes and the sassy women who showed them how to relax and find love after returning home from war. I would recommend this book to those fellow women readers who want men of action stories. I have read another of her shifter hero boxsets and also enjoyed it.
Heart pounding adventure. You have your Navy SEALs turn security company. They protect people from harm. Then you have the women who fall in love with them. They keep their guys on their toes. They also so their men that they can be as mush of a badass as them. Come on in and find out how each one falls.
I loved this book. I loved how each part included everyone’s story!! I’m wanting and epilogue though.. gotta know about the little Mercers and Bransons😉!! I would highly recommend this to anyone!!
Finally!!!!! A series of great books with super strong women!!! Yes, the guys are alpha and sexy but the women are smart, strong, independent and in control. Way to go Camilla!!!
