It's your twenty-first birthday, what's the worst thing that could happen? That you'd get drunk and text your super sexy best friend that you've secretly been in love with him for twelve years? Will she regret her confession? Or was her and Garrett's romance destined to be? And after years of running from her emotions and hiding her feelings, she's faced with the most terrifying question of all, does he love her back? One thing's for sure, the truth always has a way of revealing itself. See what One Drunk Text can do.
My life is colorful, crazy and beautiful. I'm married, I have three daughters and seven pets. I'm extremely good at multi-tasking and have undying energy, so I'm told. I don't sleep much or even stay still for long. I have an out of control imagination, which led me into writing. I love food and music. I travel at any and every opportunity I have. One of my goals in life is to see more of the world. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm probably riding my bike, cooking, or hanging out with my family and pets.
Another dive into a genre I wouldn't normally read but one that's slowly becoming more regular for me.
I really really enjoyed my time with this story. The characters felt real, the scene setting made me feel like I was there, and the framing between past and present felt organic and fluid.
Every flashback provided more depth the present day narrative and offered a glimpse into why Corinne was the person she had become. Perhaps the greatest achievement here is how Roberta could have been such a cookie cutter best friend, but absolutely wasn't. It felt like her story was carrying on off the page.
I have mixed feelings on Garrett, but I think that was the point. This book shows what love is, both the beautiful and the ugly, driven by characters I cared about. Can't wait to read more from this author.
I love the way this story was told. The author switches between past and present, so you get to know the history the characters share. It was done in a way that made sense and added to the story.
This is exactly the kind of warm, light hearted, sensual romance that you can read under the snuggling comfort of your duvet.
I loved the pacing of this book, how it immediately pulled me into Corrine's past where she meets Garrett for the first time. That mortifying moment of realising you've drunk texted him confessing your true feelings. I just simply ADORE friends to lovers/second chance romances! So the flashback chapters really helped build my investment in these amazingly fun characters. My heart swooned so many times, the flashback chapters were so sweet, so awkward (in that typical adolescent way) and really real.
Roberta is a top class side character, her energy gives me life! She's also the best friend any girl could ask for! She truly had me laughing my head off at times with her sly intervention, more often than not taking on the role or angel and devil on sweet Corrine's shoulder. And Garrett? Ooooh that Garrett. I was sold at "Viking blood". His and Corinne's chemistry? 😍♥️🔥 I loved it.
This is actually my first Kathey Gray book and I am sold on her style, fun, quirky heroines, GORGEOUS irresistible heroes and what they get up to behind closed doors!
This contemporary romance was a fun, fast read. The pacing and the flashbacks had me devouring the pages, even if, at times I wanted to shake Corinne (the main character of the story).
Cute story, but shorter than I would have preferred. There were a lot of great lines in this book, however I almost felt like their story was rushed. As if they'd just been sort of "thrown" together instead of "falling" into love, if that makes sense? Over all, I enjoyed the book and Kathey's writing.
Very fun book with extremely likable characters! I wish it was longer because the was so much more I agreed to see from this couple, but I felt satisfied with the ending. Would recommend as an easy rom com read.
