‘Eden? My name’s Lenore. I’m a detective. I’ll be conducting the interview today.’
‘I’m glad they sent a woman. I specifically asked for a woman. It’ll make it easier to confess.’
‘Confess what?’
‘I killed my dad. And my step-dad.’
‘When did this happen, Eden?’
‘I killed my dad when I was thirteen. Well, my step-dad’s not dead yet, but he’s dying. He’ll be dead before I’m eighteen.
‘So, why do you say you killed him?’
‘I can make people sick by cursing them. Or kill them.’
‘And is that how you killed your dad?’
‘I gave him a heart attack.’
‘When you were thirteen?’
‘I started cursing him when I was eleven, but it didn’t work until I was thirteen. I got the curse then he got the curse. My dad died the night of my first period.’
