My…what gorgeous eyes you have. That is so I can look into your soul my dear. And what strong arms you have. It is so I can protect you, my darling. Oh, and what mesmerizing lips you have. It is so I can devour you, my sweet.
Red is a modern day retelling of the popular classic, Little Red Riding Hood. In this story you meet Scarlett, a young woman who's chance meeting with a stranger completely changed the course of her life, turning it from a fairytale into a dark disaster.
I listened to this on audiobook, and the narrator Merphy did an amazing job bringing this story to life and keeping you invested.
However the writing and pacing in this were awful.
The story is dark and twisted and keeps you in the edge of your seat, but the ending was disappointing for me.
I’m giving it a 3 because I was so trapped in the story the entire way through. However this could have been a great novel if the author would have taken their time and really made a complete story.
Unfortunately I don’t think this book was edited at all. I reported a dozen or more simple typos on my Kindle and saw many more word choices that didn’t make sense. The book was also a prime example of telling not showing. I think it could have been really good but I didn’t feel anything due to the way it was written. The characters’ choices didn’t make sense and the book was just painful to read. I’m really sad I didn’t like this book as it came recommend and had so much potential, but it needed editing.
