For as long as Arell Rivers remembers, she has been lost in a book. During her senior year in college, she picked up a romance novel … and instantly was hooked.

She started writing her first novel, No One to Hold, because the characters were screaming at her to do so. The story started coming out in Arell’s dreams and attacking her in the shower, so she took to the computer to shut them up. But they kept talking.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Arell has what some may call a “checkered past.” Prior to discovering her passion for writing romance, she practiced law, was a wedding and event planner and even dabbled in marketing. She lives with a very supportive husband and two mischievous cats. When not in her writing cave, Arell can be found making dinner in the crock pot, working out with Shaun T or hitting the beach.

She hopes you enjoy her stories about flawed men, strong women and the passions that ignite!

Arell Rivers has me hooked! Hold Still is a must-read in my opinion! This was a great taste of the rock-star lifestyle. It was a steamy and yet lovely and sweet and all around just wonderful book!

Rock star Ozzy Martinez is struggling to write new music. McKenna needs him to write these songs in order to design for him so she can win a contest and provide for her ailing mother, and keep her promise to her dead father. They both are harboring secrets, but when she becomes his muse for writing, things start to look (and steam) up!

I really, really enjoyed this book! I loved the way the storyline went and the descriptions, events, and struggles the characters had. I loved the supporting characters, including Ozzy’s dog, Bans. I struggled with the fact that Ozzy used “Molly”. I know it happens, but I don’t condone the use, and I cringed when I read it. I also wanted to punch Ozzy in the face when he showed up at the awards show. Anyway…I loved it!!!

A Beautiful Love Story.

I am a newbie when it comes to Arell Rivers.
I have to say that I intend to go and purchase all the past books as I am now a big fan, after this book.
Ozzy, is a writer and performer.
He is doing a stint in Las Vegas and is expected to get back in the studio and create a new album.
McKenna, is a graphic designer who has been assigned to four artists to come up with some designs using their music for her project. Ozzy, is one of them and is to provide her with new music to work with.
This means a lot to her as her future hangs on these designs as they will be used for the care of her mother.
They have hooked up in the past, but Ozzy, is known as a player.
When she see's him at mutual friends wedding he is high, due to the fact that he just signed divorce papers that took three years in the making and cost him 10 Million dollars in alimony which has wiped him out. A wedding is emotionally taxing on him, but he made a promise.
When she finds herself in a tough spot, she must ask for his help to get back to her mom who has dementia.
When she realizes that he has no songs for her project, she decides she must help to get his creative side engaged, and also to do this without hooking up again.
Through many twists and turns they take each other on a journey in which they must trust each other to let the other into their sorted pasts.
This is a great story of healing, as well as a look into a disease that affects so many people and families in our society.
It moved a long at a nice pace and also picked up where another book ended so it helps previous readers to have a finality to the previous stories.
Consider me a new fan for life.

OMG

I have to admit I skipped over Will & Emilie to read Ozzy & McKenna first! I absolutely loved their story and after all McKenna is Roses bestfriend. But don't fret I'm heading to Will & Emilie's story now! What a wonderful series even with all the stalking. Thank you!

Series review

Last book of the series and so disappointed that I have finished. I could not find fault in any of the books and grew to love the individual characters. Emotional overload with quite a few tears. I am now going to select my next Arell Rivers book.

So amazing.

I loved Ozzy and McKenna’s story. So much heartache for both of them has jaded them. I love Ozzy. He just has my heart. This was such a well written story I feel like it lived it. Awesome. This is an amazing series.

ooooo where should i start????
Can i say how much i love that cover? How much i love when the cover really describe or is similar to the characters?
Being new to me author didn't know what to expect and probably my review won't do justice for how good was this book for me.
Put together a hot latin rockstar and a sassy sexy curvy amazing woman and you have the sexiest couple, the chemistry is over the top,the sex scenes are amazing described and very visual
Both have to overcome a lot of mistakes from their past and have insecurities and hard limits that don't want to cross but also without wanting fail when they get to admit that they want more from their relation ,not just friends(with benefits) who help each other.
He is the perfect rockstar, finding himself at the end of a contract and needing a new muse to write and compose a new album, along with the much waited divorce from his ex wife,he prefers to ignore everything and drowning himself in parties and alcohol and one night stands, until he reconnects with the woman that sometimes e still dreams about.
She is the perfect heroine, her past mistakes makes her stronger and wanting much more for herself and although she becomes the perfect daughter in taking care of her mother who is struggling with a terrible disease , her heart and body is not immune to Ozzy's charms, tatted and pierced body.
It's a story about real life difficulties, overcoming past mistakes and looking hopefully into the future, falling in love not only because of the great sex and the chemistry but because of the real person that only few people get to know and see,is about finding true love and not letting it go.
I will definitely read and review more from this author.

4 1/2 STARS!

Emotionally raw, steamy and just plain fun! The rock star magic of the Hold Series continues as we get Ozzy and McKenna's story! We had a glimpse of them during Cole and Rose's trilogy, and now we get to see what it's all about as Ozzy reconnects with McKenna at a time that he needs her the most. They each have a past that is holding them back from trusting in themselves but the connection between them just might be the saving grace to pull them through to the other side with each other!

Ozzy Martinez has been ruling the roost during his Vegas residency, but it's almost over and the powers that be are coming down on him hard for a new album. Only problem is, life has beaten him down and he's at a point where he can no longer create. He tries to drown the pain in booze and women, but when he runs across the one woman who has made him feel in recent times, he sees how empty it all has been.

McKenna James has a past she's trying to overcome as well, and to do so, she needs to be able to provide the care that her mother needs. This art project she's become a part of is her ticket to better things, but it's now hinged on the last person she really wants to see. He makes her feel at a time when she needs to turn off that side of her and simply produce. When she discovers Ozzy's creative block, she sets out to make him connect with something again instead of simply numbing life away. Can she help him find the muse he needs to make the music the world wants to hear? And as they spend time together, will it all become more than just a passing fancy between them?

Arell Rivers has outdone herself in this emotionally raw, steamy and just plain fun story! It was sexy, steamy and yet lovely and sweet, and all around just a wonderful book!

The rock star magic of the Hold Series continues as we get Ozzy and McKenna's long awaited story. We got teasers and glimpses of them during Cole and Rose's trilogy, and now we finally get to read about it as Ozzy reconnects with McKenna at a time that he needs her the most. Both of them each have a past that is holding them back from trusting themselves and each other but the sizzling connection and chemistry between them just might be the saving grace to pull them through to the other side with each other.

Ozzy; the great rock star, has many personal problems and issues and this has affected his inspiration and as such he has not written any new songs in a long time. McKenna also has her own problems, both economically and family. Certain and shocking events of her past has resulted in her to being extremely reserved and private. With both of them harbouring secrets, and when she becomes his muse for songwriting, their relationship begins to blossom and quickly heats up!

Loved, loved McKenna & Ozzy's story! Flawlessly written and will take you on an emotional journey in the best way possible. Their story is so heartfelt and will leave you breathless. I especially loved the well-developed storyline along with the descriptions, events, and struggles the characters had.

Highly recommended!!!

The Hold series continues with Ozzie & McKenna's story. The past they each have is what is holding them back. Ozzie has a Vegas residency which is coming to an end and has been drowning his pain in booze and women. His record label is coming down on him hard for a new album but life has beaten him down and he's at a point where he can no longer create. His divorce was finally finalized after 3 years and his ex-wife took him for ten million dollars.
McKenna James has a past she's trying to overcome as well. Her ex who killed her father in front of her, she testified against him and he went to prison. She also is trying provide the care that her mother needs. Her mother is suffering from Dementia. She is working on an Art Project that could be her ticket to better things like 24 hour care for her mother. Her project is hinged on Ozzie and he is the last person she wants to see. McKenna decides to go to Ozzie's house to talk to him about the Art Project. It turned out that she helps him with his creative block and she does everything she can to get him to reconnect with something instead of drowning his life away.
Then her ex is released form Prison and he goes to her house and threatens to kill Ozzie if she doesn't stay away from him. She does everything she can to avoid Ozzie and Ozzie knows something is wrong and he tries to talk to McKenna but, she won't talk or see him. Does Ozzie find out what is going on? Does McKenna help Ozzie to write new songs for another album? To find out you really need to read this book!! I truly loved this book!!

McKenna James is working hard to win a spot in a national competition that will give her the money that she desperately needs to care for her mother, since she promised her father that she would never put her in a home. However, her submission is dependent on one man's new songs, rock star Ozzy Martinez, who has lost his mojo in the song writing area. So she's determined to get him focused on getting these songs done, but Ozzy's creativity & trust are gone after a huge betrayal, and all he cares about are getting the sexy McKenna into bed again. And this is when the journey starts to get down & dirty, as McKenna really starts to get past those walls that Ozzy has up. He starts to confide in her what is going through his head, and the songs start to flow, however, she's not letting him past her walls, so some twists start to fly out of corners, which allowed my f-bombs to drop. I mean it's all fun & games until a betrayed man thinks he's been betrayed again. Before some of those twists, that chemistry that they had shooting off sparks, well they ignited, and well, it lit furniture on fire more than once, but don't let that fool you, there was tons of angst seeping off the pages as well. And there was a cast of secondaries that added quite a bit to the story with more depth. Anyway, I LOVED this story, as I LOVE Arell Rivers talented writing style, so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ozzy and McKenna have had to deal with hardships and betrayals. They had a brief encounter in the past and Ozzy is looking for a repeat performance at Rose and Cole’s wedding. Unfortunately, the wild and crazy McKenna is now trying to change her ways, which includes not falling back in bed with Ozzy. She now has the responsibility of taking care of her mother, and with nonstop bills she desperately needs to make money fast. Her chance at winning a contest depends on Ozzy’s writing, which turns to be a problem when he confesses that he has hit a brick wall and can’t think of any lyrics to write. McKenna tries to bring Ozzy out of his funk, and while doing so they spend time together and Ozzy begins to write again. He knows it’s because of McKenna. But she’s hiding something from Ozzy and everyone. And Ozzy has been lied to and betrayed by the two people he loved and trusted the most. What will happen when Ozzy catches on to McKenna’s lies? Will McKenna be able open her heart and learn to trust Ozzy?

This was a great read! McKenna tried her best to change for the better, but Ozzy made her realize she doesn’t need to change anything about herself, and that it’s okay to accept help and to let others in. Looking forward to the next book!

A fantastic introduction to a new to me author! Wow. I'm going to have to go back and read them all! I must catch up!

I really enjoyed Ozzy and McKenna. A quirky and dynamic pairing that complemented each other perfectly when they weren't arguing. Or in denial. Or just being plain stupid.
They both had a wealth of talent that they worked hard at crafting and perfecting.
But somewhere along the way they lost that spark, that thing that made them whole.
Through their time together they grew and flourished and shed the lies and the past like the trees in autumn.
It was beautiful and real and intense and I was deeply moved by all they endured. Especially McKenna and the sacrifices she mad selflessly for the ones she loved.
When I read novels like this, I truly wish they came with the music! I would have loved to have heard Ozzy play his tunes and felt the magic in it as the world around him felt it.
Well done, truly, five stars all around.

I am honored to have read an Arc of this story and have freely given my opinion.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

I’ll be honest and admit that I have had The Hold series on my TBR for awhile now, and even though I haven’t read Rose and Cole’s story, it didn’t stop me from wanting to read this beforehand. So in saying that, this was my first Arell Rivers book and I’ll definitely be picking up the rest of her books when I have the chance!

Ozzy and McKenna’s story is full of love and heart break. It is a story of determination for poor McKenna who needs Ozzy to overcome his writer’s block since his first and only album was released and his label is breathing down his neck, wanting new stuff as well. He decides to admit the truth to McKenna, who needs his new songs for her project to pay for her mother’s health care. They’re both keeping secrets, but one is more willing to dish their secrets and be honest, while the other continues to save face and hide behind their lies. After all, protecting ones heart is safer and easier than allowing it to possibly be broken 💔

Ozzy is a rock god with the body to match. He's been hurt and deceived in the past and lives his days one at a time and women the same way. He hasn't been able to write any songs until he finds his muse. Under that rocker exterior though is a sweet and loving man that just needs the right woman. He needs to make changes though, will he be able to?

McKenna has had to change her whole life for a promise that she made her dad. She has so much responsibility now and doesn't have time for love, especially the way that her last relationship ended. When she sees Ozzy again after their night together he wants her still but she's changed. Will she be able to give him what he needs. What if they're just using each other?

She needs him though so she can win a contest to make her life easier. Little does she know she becomes his muse. Will they be able to work out their differences so they both get they want? Will he reveal his secrets and will she reveal hers before it's too late?

I absolutely loved the songs!!!

Loved!

Ozzy and McKenna are the perfect match. Both with secrets of their own and having their own way of dealing, they are like gasoline and fire when they are together. McKenna tries to do everything on her own and takes responsibility for things she has no control over- sounds to me like many people I know. We try to do everything ourselves and put everyone else above us. We go and go and go until there is nothing let for us to give. And then we wonder where our lives are going. What's next for me? Well McKenna is doing that but also trying to make a name for herself. Despite everything she's been through she hasn't given up. She's a fighter and I fell in love with her and her colorful attitude. Ozzy is your typical bad boy rocker. Tattoos and piercings, he is every woman's wet dream. But he has secrets of his own. And why would that be surprising? Being in the public eye, secrets are not so secret. But Ozzy is a little different in that regard. While he keeps himself guarded, he's not afraid to have some fun. These two together are both hilarious and hot!

Bravo Arell Rivers what a Beautiful book you have created.
Ozzy and Mckenna are perfect together, they are two talented souls, broken by the past who need eachother in more ways than one. Ozzy has writers block and needs inspiration to write new songs, Mckenna needs Ozzy's songs to make money to take care of her family. So coming together and helping eachother seems to make perfect sense. But the sexual tension crackles like static electricity between them and spending time together starts to feel much more than just business. Feelings grow and take root revealing secrets and lies that could change everything.
I Loved reading Ozzy and Mckenna's journey through good and bad times, they were there for one another. They are like two halves that make a whole. This is a fantastic story that kept me intrigued all the way through until the end, it was funny, emotional and compelling a perfectly great read that I highly recommend.

What I can say is that I really enjoyed this book. It was my first read from this author and I do love me a good rocker romance/rekindled book.

I was led to this author from another authors recommendations and I was not disappointed. The love/almost hate relationship with Mckenna and Ozzy had me laughing or wanting to throw my kindle at times. Ozzy is what we all see bad boy rokers as party hard live hard. What we don't see is the person off stage. I loved how he just wanted a normal life and since his divorce didn't think it was possible. Mckenna was trying to honor a promis she made to always take care of her mother in good time and bad. Little did she know a blast from the past would help her in keeping the promise. This also shows to us that communication is key in any new and lasting relationship as if you do not have it things will go south in a heartbeat when you jump to conclusions.
I was give an ARC for my honest opinion and I was not disappointed!

I did not like Ozzy. I don't care about his piercings or him being a Rock star. He took Mollies when he was upset and drug use of that type and worse is a hard limit for me. He knows McKenna does not abide drug use and he can't quite promise he'd never. I'm reading he's 38 and yet McKenna seems way more mature. I totally see why she was vague about things as his residency was almost over and he'd be leaving. I'm not sure if readers understand "residency" in LasVegas and it's not really explained here. For what I understand it beats a lot of touring town to town if LasVegas can fill seats at your concerts and you have to live there??

I loved McKenna. She set goals and worked hard. She was loyal to friends and family. She figured a way to help Ozzy that benefited her project and she also helped him figure out his past a bit more. She's strong and Ozzy not that great.....bummer.
It's my first time with this author but I did like her writing just not "team Ozzy".

Hold Still
Book 2 in A Hold Series Spin-off
Arell Rivers
Ozzy is finally divorced, the day before his best mat Cole’s wedding. With his muse frozen over and the record company on his back he is really not feeling festive. Cole and Rose found their own love. But can their best friends have a story too?
McKenna has her heart crushed by Matt, the only bright spot there is him being in prison. She puts on a brave face as a doting bridesmaid for Rose.
Ozzy lives the rockstar life on the surface but doesn’t know what he is missing until he can’t get McKenna out of his head. She needs Ozzy to get his head back into creating new music and thinks a little fun might be what he needs. She just has to resist his advances.
When both their pasts raise their ugly heads everything good falls apart.
A hot read with wonderfully deep characters. This novel has familiar characters but can be read as a stand-alone novel. I received an arc of this book.

Ozzy is a hot rocker from Puerto Rico who is friends with Cole Manchester and Rose. His life is a mess and he is broke due to his ex-wife who took him for ten million. At this moment in his life all women pretty much suck and they are only good for one thing. That is until McKenna walks back into his life. However McKenna has some problems of her own. She sold her condo to take of her mother as she promised her dying father. She is barely making ends meet but she will figure out a way to take care of her mother and everything else.
When McKenna finally tracks Ozzy down as he is the key to her success she needs to figure out a way to help get his life back in order so he can start writing music again.

Ozzy and McKenna's stories are explosive there is never a dull moment in this book. It makes it really hard to put this book down. We finally find out what McKenna has been hiding and why she has been trying to keep it a secret.

Hold Still is a romance that will take hold and show you that sometimes honesty is the best policy. Two people that are broken and haunted by their pasts but are drawn to each other. Ozzy and McKenna start to realize that not only is their attraction a physical one but one that feeds their creativity. These two characters are complex, at times frustrating and have chemistry so strong that you will feel the intensity of it through the pages. A story that will take you on a ride full of twists and turns leaving you on the edge of your seat as pasts come crashing to the forefront. Their story was passionate, sexy, flirty, angsty, witty and packed full of heart. If you like your rockers hot, tattooed and pierced and their women strong, independent and faithful then hold still grab your kindle and one click this book.

Ozzy oozes in sexiness. He has piercings in all the important places. Ahem…sorry got distracted there. Ozzy Martinez is a rock god and is known for his towel throwing abilities. He’s hooked up with McKenna James in the past so when they attend their friends’ wedding, he knows he’ll have a great time and forget all the drama going on in his life. McKenna wouldn’t miss her best friend’s wedding but life at home is always pulling her back. Just one night to forget her responsibilities and who better than Ozzy to drown herself in. Too bad the bad boy is being too bad for her.

Hold Still shows the struggles musicians face in writing, collaborating and trust. This story will show you the truth of dementia, but it will also give you hope when you find the right person to walk your journey with you. Wonderfully written story.

Arell Rivers has outdone herself with this story. I am not going to give to much away because this is a must read for everyone. Once you start reading it you will not be able to put it down. I was so taken from page one that I couldn't put it down because I needed to know what was going to happen next.

Ozzy is a rockstar at the end of his tours. He is getting ready to have a break and start making music for his next album but there is one thing missing his muse his inspiration for writing. McKenna is his muse but she has lots of things going on in her life and she has no time for him. Plus she is over him after they have spent time together.

But you know what they say life's a biatch and when she deals out shizz you better watch out because she is coming for you.

This is the first book I have read from this author and from this series and I loved it. This is a spin off from another series and can be read as a standalone. McKenna and Ozzy are two characters who have had their spirits broken from past relationships come together. The chemistry between these two are explosive. McKenna is a feisty character dealing with a lot and Ozzy is a hot Latin rockstar with piercings everywhere who has writer's block. This book was a page turner and sucked me in right from the beginning. This also hits some tough topics. Now I need to go back and read Cole and Rose's story.
I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.

Ozzy Martinez is a sexy, tattooed, and pierced singer who lost his muse.
McKenna James is a curvy, Las Vegas native, with an ever changing shock of died hair who is determined to help Ozzy find his new muse in order for her to complete her contest submission.

For McKenna, she won't let Ozzy be anything other than her key to success. For Ozzy, she's an straight shooting hottie with a body he can't seem to forget. This is the second book in this series, and is Ozzy and McKenna’s story. Ozzy is the typical rock-star who loves his life. McKenna is a reformed character, and the last thing she wants is to be sucked into that lifestyle again. Neither of these characters can deny the chemistry between them, and they certainly make life very difficult for each other, as they are both as stubborn as each other. No spoilers though; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written flawless story, which had me totally enthralled throughout this addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author, who I highly recommend for all readers.

A must read

If you have read the previous 4 books in this series then your in for a treat with Izzy an McKenna story. It's got as hell but like all of Arell's books in this series have drama too. They both have a tormented past that stops them wanting a HEA but when they can't help them selves no matter how hard they fight against there hearts they try to work it out until Morgan's past comes to bite her on the bum and puts a stop to it. Will they ever find a happy ending? You have to read it to find out.

Please read the previous books first to find out more about these pair.

Emotionally raw, steamy and just plain fun. This is the second book in this series, and is Ozzy and McKenna’s story. Ozzy is the typical rock-star who loves his life. McKenna is a reformed character, and the last thing she wants is to be sucked into that lifestyle again. Hold Still has all the steamy scenes you expect from romance coupled with all the emotions you want from a good read. An very intense contemporary romance, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but very romantic. No cliffhanger, HEA, many graphic sex scenes. I would definitely recommend this book!
