Kenneth Stark. Billionaire CEO. Sexy Single Dad. At least, that’s what they want to see. I don’t tell anyone it’s all falling apart. My little girl needs more than my divided attention – we both do. Someone to make us a family again. But with my billion dollar fortune, I can't trust anyone I date.
Except maybe the one girl who wants nothing to do with me at all. Jessica Reynolds. Ten years ago, I broke her heart… Now she’s back. My new secretary. The same sexy curves, sparkling humor and gorgeous smile...with a new distrust in her eyes. I guess she’s not over what happened all those years ago. The more I see of her…the more I think I’m not either.
It’s a bad idea. She’s hurt and scared, with her own problems. I’ve got my daughter to think of - and a damn harassment lawsuit to deal with. This isn’t the time to be fantasizing about my new secretary. But then I see her with my little girl. Laughing and playing together. Everything I’ve always wanted. And none of that matters anymore.
I want her back. I want a family. And I always get what I want. I made a mistake all those years ago. Now, I’ll do whatever it takes to win her back. And this time, I won’t let anything get in our way.
Single Dad CEO is a full length standalone romance with no cheating or cliffhangers - and a guaranteed HEA!
Lara Swann writes hot, sexy romance with a touch of humor and a lot of passion. She has a thing for wounded alpha heroes and the fiery women who steal their hearts.
Her relationships are funny, sexy and spicy, and she gets as many thrills in pitting her characters against each other as she does when they eventually come together in an explosion of heat.
When she isn’t living in one of her many fantasy worlds, she attempts to focus on her respectable day job in a large, too-expensive city and dreams of a lake house in the country.

My first book by Lara Swann and it was sweet to read; lovely h, genuinely nice H, sweet little kid and great grandpa. I genuinely thought I was done with billionaire books; but this one is a nice take and it was good to see a H who didn't flaunt his money and was not a man whore; in fact he often despaired that even having money, he found life was not easy; he needed good people around him. It also touched on the topic of sexual harassment in workplace; what happens when an innocent guy is accused of it and I am happy to say that's not the main part of the book but neither is it a minor part. Loved h when she tells another character that it's very bad to talk about something one hasn't seen or experienced first thing; very graciously done and Ms. Swann handles this part well. All around great book and worth a read.
This is a story that is really slow burn. I found it so slow through the first 120 pages that I almost put it down in the pile of DNFs. Same thoughts all the time. Same issues. No communication that helped the issues. It was a struggle to get through it. I skipped pages and still did not miss anything of the story so much repeating was there. But it became a bit better. It has a lot of potential to be a winner. Characters are likeable and almost too sweet but they are well described. I liked Abbie. She is adorable. I like their chemistry.
I rated this book a 3 star only because it was a little boring for me.
It was a well written book but I feel it didn't give me that sense of excitement. I nearly DNF but I hate leaving books unfinished, so I kinda skim through just to get to the end. Oops.
I think I read this book whilst going through some mid life crisis, thats probably why I ddn't love it so much. So don't take my negative review ok read it cos it might be for you.
This started off with a huge thumbs up for me and I was loving the story, the characters, pretty much everything, but sadly at about 40% I kinda lost me... leaving me unsure! But alas I’m not a quitter so pushed on after a little break to discover the story got its mojo back and it was really good again.
I loved Kenneth Stark and his billionaire ways, showing his vulnerability through his gorgeous 4 yr old daughter Abbie, but his willingness to win over his first love.
I think Jessica was my favourite character though, her tough exterior bought a fierceness I enjoyed reading. But the love she shares for her grandfather had me loving her more. Discovering her new boss is none other than her boyfriend from high school who broke her heart. Now he’ll win her back filled with many setbacks and drama which we all secretly love...
Single Dad CEO by Lara Swann Kenneth is getting a new secretary this morning. The name sounds like he should know this woman and when he realizes who it is he is shocked. They broke up when they were both eighteen years old, ten years ago. I loved this story. This story has so much going on, not just will Kenneth and Jessica get together. It is what is going on with their lives and what are their deep thoughts, and private thoughts. This is one book I will remember reading and the details. I highly recommend this book. I received an ARC and have voluntarily left a review. This is my honest opinion.
Seems to be a nice story of a cute kid, a busy boss, and his competent, helpful secretary. Ten years ago, he left her, and their relationship, to go and make a life. Now, he is a billionaire, running his own company, and she now works directly for him. They may develop a romance at some point. But, at the 40% point, we are still dealing with the cute kid, and her needs. The billionaire dad’s insecurities about how much time he spends with her. The secretary babysitting the cute kid, in, and out of business hours. So far, it’s a nice story about the cute kid. But, it’s a lousy romance. I became bored with the cute kid, almost immediately. At the 40 % point, I gave up, and moved on.
This one really had potential and could have been a great read, but the author just wouldn't shut up. There was so much "filler" carp that I skimmed half the book. The characters would be having a conversation and before he/she could respond there would be paragraph after paragraph of the character list in their own head. Boring to say the least.
3 stars. This was a good book but so much filler the first half that I really lost interest. I did keep reading and it got better but there just wasn’t any chemistry between Kenneth and Jessica. It was if it was a forced relationship or one that was just there with nothing more. Abbie was the saving grace, she was really cute. I was disappointed in this book
Entertaining, EMOTIVE, and Exemplarily written, a total MUST-BUY! OMG, OMW, OH my “SINGLE DAD C.E.O.” is soooo good! “SINGLE DAD C.E.O.” is a phenomenal character-centered novel that will light up a reader’s emotions as well as entertain for hours. This complex but compelling contemporary, second chance romance is a page-turner and more than difficult to put down when real life issues call. In fact, the story was so impressive, my “try out the first chapter” turned into a marathon read. I fell in love with Swann’s heroine, Jessica, first. Her compassion for others and her willingness to put her personal stress behind the compulsion to earn the kind of money needed to provide her Grandfather with the best care possible was so admirable. Add to that her strength and courage to face what would make most people turn tail and run was both inspirational and extraordinary. Needless to say, this reader was rooting for her happily ever from the moment she first appeared in the story. I also fell in love with Kenneth and the integrity he fought to maintain despite some pretty harrowing circumstances! That, plus the relationship he had with his daughter Abbie, a relationship that he had to fight to strengthen on a daily basis, made him worthy of someone as admirable as Jessica. However, one HUGE error in judgement as a teen my keep them apart despite what they feel for each other. Is it possible for Jessica to forgive Kenneth for his youthful indiscretions? Will Kenneth be allowed to show Jessica the depth of his feelings toward her? Will Abbie like Jessica or will Abbie stop any chance for Kenneth and Jessica to have a future? What becomes of Grandad, and finally, who sent the un-mailed letter? If you are looking for hours of GREAT entertainment, the answers to these questions, and/or like books written with smooth yet descriptive prose while including some STEAM in its complex yet compelling plot, then you MUST BUY “SINGLE DAD C.E.O.” today! I voluntarily read an ARC copy of “SINGLE DAD C.E.O.” and this is my honest 5++STAR review. Happy pages! 😉
‘Single Dad CEO’ is a standalone book about second chances, but also about the feeling of finally coming home after just going through the motions of life.
This book follows Jessica Reynolds who recently relocated to her home town after a family emergency. Wanting to get herself re-settled into her home town, Jessica applied for a new job which just so happens to be a secretarial position at the company ExVenture where she’ll be working very closely with her high school sweetheart who broke her heart all those years ago - Kenneth Stark.
This book also follows Kenneth who is the CEO of ExVenture. Kenneth is a great guy and an even greater dad. Speaking of which, he’s a single dad to an adorable girl Abbie. Kenneth constantly struggles with finding a healthy balance between spending quality time with his daughter and running a billion-dollar enterprise. It warmed my heart to see how much he cares for his daughter, yet pained me to see how heavy it has been weighing on his heart to find that healthy balance.
I enjoyed reading this book immensely. I especially enjoyed the plot, which was very realistic. That also includes the development of Kenneth and Jessica’s relationship, which was very genuine and heartfelt. It seemed as if both of them were just going through the motions of life before they reconnected with each other and that they brought each other back to life after rekindling their old flame. Their chemistry was also off the charts! Another thing that I enjoyed tremendously was reading about Kenneth’s daughter Abbie. She is absolutely adorable and basically stole the show for me.
All in all, this was a very light-hearted, feel-good and adorable read.
Let me think how I would start to describe this amazing almost true life fiction story. Let’s start with Jessica Reynolds... a twenty eight year old that was left to her grand parents to raise at the tender age of 4yrs old... her grandfather Thomas and his wife took care of her.... she grew up with them as her only parents and in high school she has a boyfriend name Kenneth Stark that left her after they graduated from high school.. he told her he would never leave her like her mother did... she was heart broken and a little angry with him...
Ok now let’s tell you a little about Kenneth Stark.. a 28 year old that made it big and is now a billionaire and a father.... yeah him and Jessica was girlfriend and boyfriends when they were in high school... but hey had been friends long before that, ever since elementary school.. they grew up together and was thick as thieves... but Kenneth was selfish and left her to go on to collage to make something of himself and never looked back..
I have to say it was amazing that they found each other again 10 years later when Jessica Applied for a job as his executive secretary at a company called ExVenture.... and that’s when the story took on a new meaning.... it’s a must read... it’s betrayal, Sexual-harassment, misleading, and most of all a love that ever died.. I was so caught up in this story I really wanted to finish it in one setting but a girl gotta work... and I was soooo blown away by the time I finish it... AMAZING!! 🥰🥰🥰
I'm new with this author's writing and despite being a bit scared I thought... Why not! I liked the blurb so I gave it a chance. Lara Swann is the author that I'm talking about and I really liked her writing. Single Dad CEO is the book in question and explores the lives of Kenneth and Jessica. Kenneth is a billionaire. He's a single dad that needs a woman by his side. His little girl needs a mom but he can't trust anyone. There is one girl, a girl from his past that broke her heart. Now she's back and... Jessica saw her heart being broken by life had moved on and greater things await the ones that deserve it. Her past was supposed to be just that, the past but sometimes... It was a beautiful ride, that's for sure, and I loved it. Great plot, well written, engaging, and intense. It was a beautiful story will a bunch of ups and downs. Each chapter was even more addictive than the latest and I couldn't stop reading it. I was hooked. Abbie is a wonderful character and I loved her dearly. How could I stop reading when this book pulled me into it? The characters worked perfectly with each other and you could feel the love. You could testify their struggles, their fears. It was an amazing book and I can't wait to read more.
This was a pretty sweet story about second chances. Kenneth broke Jessica’s heart when he broke up with her and left for college. Ten years later he has built a company and is a single dad to his daughter, Abbie. Jessica came home to see her gramps after he had a stroke. She also started working for Kenneth’s company unbeknownst to Kenneth. When he needs a new assistant, Jessica gets promoted to the position. When Kenneth realizes it’s Jessica from his past he is confused and also realizes his feelings for her never really left. He is going to have to work hard to get her to trust him again. Jessica thinks she will be able to put her anger for Kenneth aside and just do her job. When Kenneth has to bring his daughter to work, Jessica sees a different side to him. She starts thinking maybe he has changed and isn’t the jerk he was back then. There is a lot that starts to happen for them. Kenneth has to deal with a bogus harassment charge and Jessica has to deal with ghosts from her past. There were times it was a little slow, but it was a good storyline and good characters. You see their attraction to each other never left and neither did the connection.
Kenneth, single dad and Billionaire and Ceo of ExVenture has many predicaments he is trying to handle all at once. When his ex-high school love, Jessica walks into his office presenting herself as his secretary, awkwardness prevails, they did not end on great terms, but she makes it clear that ten years later she is all about professionalism now, and not there for a social visit. Life just got messier for them both, will it be for better or worse? A Heart of hearts storyline, with a stand up for yourself message, mixed with sexiness and some great characters It was hard not to enjoy the angsty, witty read! If you like Billionaire CEO's with wit, strength, determination, a little bit clueless, are swoon-worthy with their kids, and fall head over heels for the women they left behind then Lara Swann's latest bookSingle Dad CEO is for you!
Jessica has gotten a promotion at work which she is both excited and terrified about. Mostly because her boss was going to be her ex. Kenneth is in the middle of a sexual harassment suit when Jessica walks back into his life. Things between them are a little awkward at first but seem to move smoothly. When his nanny bails on him Kenneth has to bring his daughter into work with him and she bonds pretty quick with Jessica. Its not long before things are changing between Jessica and Kenneth however will it cause issues with his law suit? Can they make it work this time?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.
This story follows Kenneth and Jessica who were high school sweethearts until he decided to leave town without her to pursue his dreams which broke her heart. Ten years later she ends up working for his company as his personal secretary. She still has abandonment issues stemming from her mother and then Kenneth leaving her. Kenneth has his own issues he is dealing with that would scare most people away but Jessica is willing to stand by him when even his own team is doubting him. Even with her world falling apart she is still willing to help him when he needs it most. This is not your typical billionaire boss second chance romance it's really so much more. These characters have a story that was well developed and will draw you in until the very end. Oh and just wait till you meet Abbie she will steal your heart! This is a must read one click today!
I decided to read this book because it was free to read and when I read the blurb, it caught my interest. Unfortunately I can only give it a 2.5 stars and I’m really sorry if I am not giving it more because the story had a lot of potential. A single dad, his encounter with his high school sweetheart and a law suit that can ruin his reputation. I read the entire book because I really wanted to give it a chance but I have unfortunately noticed that it lacked of emotional involvement. I can suppose that it is due to its length that is the chapters were too long and the plot never seemed to evolve. The female character was too boring while the male character lacked of personality. I would like to point out that this is, as usual, my personal opinion and I always say that books need to be read beyond book reviews.
Boring asf. And the title? EWW There was no plot at all it felt like I'm reading a diary, one that isn't very exciting. I wanted a book with a single dad trope and one who's a billionaire. This "billionaire" doesn't have his own private jet and travels in normal planes. He TAXIs cause he didn't feel like driving. Hello!? Where is your driver? He has nanny issues and couldn't hire one, bro like there should've already been a crew of nannies lined up for your kid, YOU'RE a BILLIONARE. It was a nice attempt to write a single dad ceo trope romance novel (and then name it just that) but it felt more like an autobiography of two people and no I do not like reading biographies or autos.
And I have BETTER title suggestions The Case (cause the book revolved around that lame ass case) Love Requited or wait, this one is great, LAME.
Ok, Lara Swann’ Single Dad CEO: A Billionaire Boss Romance definitely hot a sweet spot for me as I love both billionaire romances and single dad romances - and this one was done especially well. Then you add in the second chance romance element and it’s a trifecta of romance reading pleasure. Kenneth Stark is the perfect CEO alpha male dad character, and Jessica Reynolds is perfect for him and perfect for readers too. Total yumminess. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
Jessica and Kenneth were sweethearts when they were 16 yrs old then when he was 18 Kenneth left with no explanation. Since she was brought up by her grandparents as her mother just left her Jessica took it bad. Ten years later Jessica comes back home as her grandfather had a stroke. She got a job working for a company then is promoted to secretary to the CEO who turns out to be Kenneth. One day he has to take his four year old daughter into the office as his nanny let him down. Jessica and Abbie hit it off and she spends the day looking after her. Over time Kenneth realises that he still loves Jessica but they don’t have an easy time of it. I’m not going to spoil the rest only to say that you will not be disappointed when you read it.
I Gave This Book an Overall Rating Of 5 ✩’S Title: Single Dad CEO Series: Standalone Genre: A Billionaire Boss Romance Author: Lara Swann Format: Kindle Edition Published on: Nov 12, 2018 >-< >-< >-< >-< >-<>-< >-< >-< >-< >-< >-< >-< >-< I voluntarily received a Courtesy Copy of this book from the author and am choosing to leave a review. >-< >-< >-< >-< >-<>-< >-< >-< >-< >-< >-< >-< >-< Character’s Descriptions: Kenneth Stark is a Billionaire CEO and a Single Dad. It was a fun read. The characters played off of each other well which made it a joy to read.
I saw this on booktok, and I thought I give it a try. However this story is base on two characters alone. The MC leave the FMC when he was 17 to pursue his business, 14 yrs layer the MC need a new secretary and the fmc shows up. Let me say this book is so boring that each characters are always in their head. I skip through most of the chapter for that reason. He kisses her 48% of the book and that is it.. so if your looking for enemies to lovers or some flirting forget it nothing happening. I am hoping something will happen but so far other than her dad getting a stroke and hes getting sued for sexual harassment nothing is happening. I really want to see what happens so I will stick it out..
Wow I absolutely loved this book. It was such a wonderful romantic way to give us as people hope that one day you can find love, even if it's from your childhood sweetheart. Jessica and Kenneth have been apart for about 10 years and in that time she is still angry about the break-up but finds it in her heart to give it another try. Things also happen that make it hard for them but in the end family is what comes first and love with always be the center of their lives. I think that this is a perfect holiday read even though it's not a holiday story. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy
I loved this story!! It was written really well and I loved how the story developed. The relationship and the rekindling of it, was done extremely well. It pulled me in from beginning to end and the way it was done made it feel real. Nothing felt rushed and it was very believable. They had issues and things were not exactly ended on the best of terms as Jessica's heart was broken. While it's been 10 years, it still bothers her and she doesn't just get over that. I loved little Abbie! She is just adorable and I loved the part that she played in the story and the relationship. Overall, this was just a fantastic story and I loved reading it!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is an extremely well written book where the emotional depth of the storyline and characters is what draws you in and keeps you enthralled until the very last page.
Kenneth Stark single dad and billionaire is about to employ a new secretary and he feels as though there is something he should remember her about the name. How about they were a couple at high school until he walked away to go to MIT and start his business. Jessica Reynolds has her own problems but she is determined to keep things business like what is in the past is in the past. When emotions start to form between them will they take up where it ended or will they walk away you need to read to see
Kenneth and Jessica were sweethearts from the past, but a very bad decision was made by Kenneth to end that relationship. Fast forward 10 years and they are back in each other’s presence again, with Kenneth being a self-made Billionaire with a crazy ex-employee, a daughter with a mother that literally abandoned her child, and a nanny that is heading out to another gig.
How does Kenneth handle this? In steps in Jessica to try and help with this ciaos along with trying to manage her drama, her granddad, her feelings, and the adorable daughter of her long-lost love Kenneth, Abbie!!
It’s a decent read. The thing I didn’t like with this book is that there were so many things that is happening with the characters they were confusing and overwhelming to read at some point. And I did feel like that it took so long for them to realise that they still have feelings to each other just because there were so many things/problems in their own lives.
The thing I liked tho is the relationship that the male lead character with his daughter (it’s adorable) and the relationship that the female lead character has with his grandfather (this was so precious and with someone who also grew up with grandparents I can totally relate on the feelings)
