"Caramel Kisses" by Cecelia Dowdy
My Thoughts....
This was a delightful read and what I particularly what I liked about the read was that it was of a 'hero [Michael] and heroine [Mimi]who were in their seventies.' When the heroine died she left something for her husband to take care of. What Michael learned of this situation about blow his mind and that was finding out that his now dead wife [Mimi] had a daughter in her early teenage years that he knew nothing about that had been adopted. Would he be able to find Mimi's daughter and give her what had been left from his wife. Well, all I can say is that Michael, [Mimi's husband] did a wonderful job at finally locating this daughter where he will go to various characters...Lyle, Darla, Cassie, Amy, Belinda to get to the root of this person. I will say you will have to pick up this good read "Caramel Kisses" to see how this author will bring out this good read to the reader. In the end Michael Gray will come out of this with not only a new wife, a little one named after him and some great new friends. Now, how did the name "Caramel Kisses" come out of all of this? Well, it seems like Michael's new wife [Darla] was the owner of a bakery and prepared some good sweet candies as his former wife had done! I will say it was nice to have a novel who had a sweet romance in it especially with the main characters being in the 'seventies.' Would I recommend "Caramel Kisses?"...Yes!
Michael and Dara are two widowed seniors that blend well after a dramatic meet up. It was so refreshing to read about a couple getting a new lease on life n their middle years. The small town, small business owners theme was beautifully written by Ms. Dowdy. I loved the fact that a former small town baker met a fell in love with a candy maker in his new small town. If you love a sweet mature happily ever after then Caramel Kisses is for you.
Carmel Kisses is about an older couple who found love later in life. They each had lost their spouses and were fairly set in their ways. Though there were challenges, they still managed to give love a chance. The beach setting was described realistically and was a nice breath of fresh air. I sympathized with the characters, Michael and Dara, and cheered at the happy ending. Well worth the read.
I loved this book as well as all the books in this series. This was the first book in the series but I read it last. It is a very heartwarming story about love lost and new love found. It is a mature sweet love story. True love has no age limit.
Nice, clean romance story with senior citizens as the main characters. I liked the fact that the story moved along nicely and wasn't drawn out as some romances can be. The thing that irritated me was the constant mentioning of the color of the characters' skin. I got it the first 10 times it was mentioned, it didn't need to be repeated 100 more times!
This is a refreshingly sweet and different story with a more mature romance that will definitely endear you to this beautiful journey towards true love. With heartwarming characters and a delicious recipe too.
Not often that a book is written about 70 years old people falling in love. Great story. Dara was able to overcome her fears and Michael accomplished what he started to do
This book was a nice change of pace as it focused on a romance between two seniors in their 70's. As usual, Dowdy included lots of talk of cakes and candy so the book was full of sweetness. Quick enjoyable read that kicks off the Candy Beach series.
I really enjoyed this clean Christian book!! It was a nice change from other series I read. I love my other series I follow but I am now a follower of this author and can't wait to read the next one.
I enjoyed this novella. It's a decent, quick read that makes me long for one of my favorite candies - caramel! There's a recipe included which, if I get brave enough, I'd like to try!
Michael a widower made a promise to his wife before she died that he is working hard to keep. Really enjoyed this story about family. It made we cry it was so moving.
