Through the Eyes of Love: Encouraging Others Through Prophetic Revelation

Rate this book
“But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love .” –1 Corinthians 13:13 Seeing the world through a lens of love is not easy, but when you commit to this practice you will begin to see God’s power move in surprising ways. Through the Eyes of Love shows us how operating from a place of love is the most effective way to walk in the Spirit. This book will help you grow in spiritual authority and learn how to speak powerful words. As someone who heard God’s voice at a young age, Shawn has been diligent to continue to seek the Lord’s voice for more than two decades as a sought-after international teacher. In this book, Shawn shares multiple first-person stories of people he has met and spoken to over the years. Whether sitting at a table eating dinner with billionaires or pulling over on the highway to give a construction worker a word of knowledge, Shawn is amazed at how often God wants to speak personally to people, from every area of life. If you pursue spiritual gifts—especially words of knowledge—you will begin to realize that knowing God’s thoughts shifts the lens through which you see people and culture. In fact, being on the receiving end of a direct message from God will open your spiritual eyes. It’s like seeing a color you never knew existed. As you sincerely pray and ask God what He wants to say to your coworkers, your neighbors, and your city, you will be surprised at how often He speaks.

Shawn takes us on a journey of learning to hear the voice of God more clearly by sharing powerful anecdotes of how God has moved through his ministry to turn hearts towards the Lord. Any gift has to be trained, and he describes this process in detail for his readers. Threaded throughout the text is the understanding that God is love.

It's all about love! Seeing people through God's eyes. Amazing things happen when you love yourself and others with God's love. Shawn gives excellent examples of amazing things that happen when we risk speaking for God and following what His Spirit is saying.

I received an advance copy of the book, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend it!
First of all, I wholeheartedly agree that we as Christians should do everything in love! That is not my problem with the book... My problem with this book begins on page 30, where the author says,"Our perspectives can be so black-and-white that we don't realize love with good boundaries can have a lot of gray areas, because love accepts all things." Really?? God is love, and He accepts all people, but He certainly does NOT accept all things!!! Then by page 37, the author is saying that it is OK to make mistakes when giving people a word from God. One example of this is,"People want to be loved by you more than they want you to be right about everything." All throughout the next chapter, he is talking about all the mistakes he has made in giving people a word from God. If it is NOT a word from God, you shouldn't be giving it to someone. The devil is the father of lies, and God is truth. Wow, just WOW! Read the Bible, pray, and listen to God.
Honestly, I hate to give books/authors bad reviews, but I believe people should know what a book is about.

This book was so good and really opened my heart to the love of God. Hearing testimony after testimony of how the Lord showed His love through the prophetic stirred me greatly. I feel like I have a deeper revelation of His love and grace for us, and it encourages me to move in greater intimacy with Him. I also appreciate Shawn's grace-filled revelation and his vulnerability about his own issues and stumbles.

I love all books by Shawn Bolz-his focus is always to now the heart of God and this book is no exception. This book will shift your focus from self and self-righteous attitudes to the love and heart of God is want all people to know Him. Too often Christians have misrepresented God's incredible love through His Son-this book will deliver you if you let it.

I was so excited to read Shawn Bolz’s “Through The Eyes of Love” However, I was highly disappointed and honestly quite disgruntled as I read this book. I have never given a book review on Let Love Be My Motive (my blog) lower than 3 stars, but I had a hard time even rating this book due to it being unbiblical. I am wondering if people will even catch where it is false which is quite concerning. While I believe that grace abounds where sin abounds. Prophetic words are not something that should be spoken lightly. You are being God’s mouthpiece. I believe that everyone has the ability to prophesy IF you have the Holy Spirit. As a true prophet of God, there should be no false words spoken. This is due to you being lead by the spirit rather than your flesh. He made it seems like eh, there is grace, do not worry about it too much. If you give a false word, you give a false word. As I said, I do believe there is grace for much but it is so important for Holy Spirit to be leading you rather than what you think you know or “context clues”. I put this book down at 34% (3rd chapter) after he talked about him not giving word’s about relationships very often. Why at this point? Because he talks about a girl who used to be into prostitution and had “daddy issues”, therefore there would be NO way he would ever be with someone like that unless she was working on her healing.
HOLY MOLY MOSTACHOLI!!!
I’m not sure who Shawn Bolz is or how is other books are, but please stay far away from this one. It doesn’t represent the prophetic or the Love of Jesus. There is a lot of deception concealed by bits of truth.
Do I recommend this book? Nope, sorry. I give it a 1 star out of 5, If I could give it a 0 I would. I hope to not seem harsh but I cannot co-sign this on Let Love Be My Motive.
Seek Holy Spirit for help with the prophetic and love. I will be looking out for new books on Loving Like Jesus and the Prophetic to share with you other than the bible (even though this is your best bet!). So sorry to disappoint!

This book is such a practical approach to living through the lense of God’s love and walking out the Christian faith the way that’s modelled by Jesus and his disciples. Every page is a breath of fresh air and filled with new insights which I found to be so encouraging. I love that this book is for everyone where-ever they are in their journey they will come away having learned something and feeling encouraged that love is possible.

This book is mindblowing. Practically displays how we are to place our hearts whilst pursuing the prophetic ministry. Beginning with love and Flowing through love is so essential in bringing true and pure God breathed words to people in deep need. All prophets or people desiring to prophesy need to read this book.

There was some good food for thought in this book, though I got the impression that the content was supplementary to an earlier book of his that I should have read first. Bolz's chapter on experiences with prophecy in the government was fascinating. Bolz does make some blanket statements that are just too simple and misleading, such as "God doesn't care about your sin." I understand that he is trying to correct a tendency to be judgmental, but in doing so he goes too far.

This book was so inspiring. Each time I read it, I would be excited to go out into the world and look at people through a different lens. This book helped me shift focus away from myself, and to start looking at others through eyes of love, the way God sees them.

A book that beautifully and powerfully reoriented my mindset towards love. God's love for me, God's love for others, God's love for creativity, invention, problem solving, solutions. Something desperately needed as we are getting sucked further and further into culture wars in our nation...

Some great quotes, but the stories were just things you’d hear in a sermon. Good, but nothing earth shattering if you’ve been a Christian all your life and grown up in a prophetic culture.

I've heard Shawn Bolz preaching when I did the School of Supernatural Heroes in The Netherlands. At that time I read his book Translating God: Hearing God's Voice For Yourself And The World Around You, which is a great introduction into the prophetic and learning to hear God's voice. In Through the Eyes of Love, Shawn goes a little deeper into the prophetic ministry and its primary revelatory gifts. It's all about sharing God's heart and His nature. Shawn shares stories about his own experiences with prophesying in a vulnerable way. Additionally, he has added stories of people he knows and their experiences. This shows how creative God is with the prophetic ministry and they all have one thing in common: they all come from love. His love.

Through the Eyes of Love is a call to open your spiritual eyes and see everyone around you through the love of God. Pray, ask, listen and speak His words. If you approach someone from divine love, you can't go wrong. Even if the prophecy is not correct, someone will sense your sincere love. As humans we are flawed when it comes to love, that's why we need to work with the Holy Spirit and depend on the One whose love never fails.

Reading Through the Eyes of Love has inspired me to keep pursuing the revelatory gifts. Especially in the places where I'm working or travelling. It feels 'safer' when prophesying in a place of prayer or when someone asks for prayer. But there are so many people out there who are waiting on a word of God without knowing it. They long to be loved and might not even know God. I can grow as I go, because I do believe that God will use all things for good.

I received an ARC from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley this review is my personal opinion

Swan Boltz, talks about how to see when we let God heal and help us to see others with love, how that will change completely our way to live. He goes in all the areas we may or not involved and how the love for God should always be the center for our actions. How our words are affected by our attitude and I remember that one of the What I like about this book is how is honest he is about his calling and even the mistakes he has made and how that has taken him to deepen his relationship with God to listen to Him better, you can see that he loves God and know that he is love and secure on that love. I think that is what also makes his message relatable. And all do at the beginning of the book I was not sure of this book, I’m grateful I decided to read more and finish it. This book was an unexpected blessing.
