God wants to be in everything that has to do with our lives, yet we learn how to separate God from the rest of life early in our spiritual development. But no attitude, no activity, and no element of our lives should be without a faith-infused, God-led foundation. There is a godly basis for everything you do posting online, relating to your boss, submitting to your teacher, honoring your mom and dad, performing on your job, and appropriating your talent and money. Making room for God means giving Him unrestricted space to operate in and through your life. It s the time, energy, and identity you allow Him to use, challenge, and redeem in you so that you can make a difference in the world. Truly making room for God extends into every crack and fold of your life. In his first book, author Jonathan McReynolds draws on the testimony of Scripture and of personal experience to appeal to readers to make room for God in every area of life public or private, mental or spiritual to experience the fullness that can come only through an authentic relationship with God. In every chapter, he enlightens marginal and seasoned believers alike about the ways that we shut God out. More important, McReynolds offers honest, practical advice on how to make room for Him every day and in every way.
I originally purchased this book to support the author, yet gained a few nuggets. I enjoyed how he touched on every aspect our lives and was very transparent with his own. I tried reading this like a devotional...read one chapter, let it marinate & establish a habit. Yeah, that didn't work, as I got a little side tracked at times while other times I just wanted to read.
For many, this book may seem redundant because we know we must make room for God...but do we really? And intentionally? So though I knew much of what he stressed, the author opened my eyes to new ways and reminded me or others. I am glad I read this.
I knew Jonathan McReynolds had a way with words, the lyrics of his songs are so captivating, engaging and relatable. When I saw that he had written a book, I had to get it and I wasn’t disappointed.
In just about 140 pages, Jonathan shares from the Bible and his own personal experiences about allowing God influence every area of our lives.
He describes how the concept he calls “making room” for God everyday enables us excel in all our endeavours.
I particularly liked the chapter about making room for God in our dreams and desires, our goals. Not just on spiritual goals but career goals as well.
This is an excellent book for anyone really but it's especially suited for the 20s and 30s demographic! It's an easy read but it's not meant to be a quick one! I read it on my commute to work and I finished it but I've already started on my second read where I take notes and meditate on what's written! His music is full of transparency and so is this book! I absolutely loved it!!!
I enjoyed this book. It granted me conviction for myself. The author did an amazing job with explaining how we can make room for God. I appreciate the fact he was transparent about areas in his life he could improve on to make time for God.
I know I'm biased because I love his music, but this was a great morning devotional book to read and consider just a few pages at a time. It challenged me to make room for God in every aspect and at every time of my life.
I have had this book for a few years. I cracked it open as soon as I got it but for some reason I couldn’t get into it. J Mc as I like to call him has a special place in my heart and I felt so bad that I couldn’t get into this book. I now realize that it wasn’t time for me to dive into it then. Have completed this book in a time in which I purposed to make more time for me and God the revelation, nuggets, and gems dropped here were magnificent. If you’ve never experienced J Mc explain revelations he’s received you wouldn’t get the full scope of this book. It was an experience to read it. It felt as if we were chatting and revealing our deepest insecurities or drawbacks when it comes to taking the time to make room for Christ and your faith. I am so glad I opened it and completed it when I did because it confirmed so much for me in my current season of life. I wore this album out when it first came out but to read the book at this time was so much more rewarding. The last piece about secular music.. whew!!! I think about the heavy as I have dived back into reading (my TBR and books read def show). I’m def going to be re-reading.
This book blessed me completely. I picked this book for my virtual book club (Page Turners Book Club) because I’m familiar with the author and his music and wanted to read in debt how I can make room for God in my life. The analogies he made really brought home how I can make room. Whether it’s from him carrying his ACOUSTIC guitar on the plane or watching the hit tv show Hoarder, he really made it plain and showed how easy it is to make room. He also hit on making sure the desires of our heart, aligns with God, His people, and bringing glory to His name. I highlighted up a storm in this book. My favorite highlight is “to be without a private relationship with God is to be unplugged from your Power Source, operating on whatever power you have within and with no more coming.” That is a word right there! I recommend to all!
This book was powerful. I have been moved and inspired by Jonathan McReynolds music since his first album "Life Music"! I was motivated to read this book after watching "Sunday Best" on BET and Kirk Franklin introduced Jonathan as an author. I am glad I did and I listened to all of his albums while reading it. Jonathan is a very powerful man of God for millennials and all ages. The constant message in this book is to "MAKE ROOM" for Lord in every aspect of your life!
This is such a good book for younger audiences who are looking for ways to strengthen their walk with Christ. The writing style is down to earth, relatable, and yet, true. As a millennial Christian who is seeking to grow, have stronger faith, and make room in my life to both publicly and privately make room to developing my own spiritual relationship with God, this book has been really helpful in getting me to think about my current mindset and how to take steps to grow. So if you’re looking for ways to do this yourself, definitely start with this book!
This book laid out how to make room in your life to allow God to move according to His will. Jonathan dedicated each chapter to a different part of life and it all flowed perfectly. He gave examples of everything he talked about, cited every source he had in case you wanted to go back, had loads of Bible verses so you can double check and told interesting and transparent stories. The tone of the book get very “big brother-ish”. I loved it and would recommend it again and again.
I appreciate the Authors transparency glory to God. His way with words and the way he gets a point across is genius. This is a must read & may we all make room for Jesus.
This is a must read for young men and women of the Christian faith and even those who are searching to understand that they are not in this fight alone. The standard is still meant to be upheld and this fresh perspective gives that in a bold way. Love it!
The more you can be honest with yourself, the more you will want to get out of your way and make Room for GOD. Jonathan McReynolds' book Make Room makes it easy to understand this. Make Room is a quick, fun, and enlightening read.
This book has reignited my daily walk with Jesus Christ and reminded me of the divine significance of making room for HIM! Great, relatable nuggets of wisdom are peppered throughout the pages... Awesome read!
I’m a big fan of Jonathan McReynolds, so I was excited to read this book. This was an easy and inspiring read with practical tips to “Make Room” for God in our lives.
This book is a very strong reminder for believers to step up our game concerning our relationship with God. It’s very practical, real and practical. So grateful I read this one!
This was an excellent, practical book. I walk away ready to apply what was covered. I enjoy books that are an easy read and make me reconsider. Great job Jonathan McReynolds!
What can I say about this book right here. First I just love the cd by the same name, it just touches my soul. This young man is a gift from God. When I tell you his music will keep you going and lift you up on a daily, it simply does. Every time I listen to his music I learn something new about myself.
Now he has written a book that I know I will re-read it many times just like I listen to his CDS everyday all day. I am so sure I will learn something new everytime I read it. You can hear God speaking through this testimony.
Thank you Mr. McReynolds for writting this lovely book. I look forward to you writing another one. I am sure that one will be just as good as this one.
Reveiw of the book: This book will make you evaluate your relationship with God and make you make more room for God to be in totally control of your life.
I surely will make more room for God right now.
April 24th I re-read this book and I must say it is still a joy to listen to this book. He just released today (April 24th, 2020) a new LP (CD) (People) and this young man is a blessing straight from God.
Make Room for God to enter your life and make you complete.
Exceptional book. Easy to read. Very inspiring and relative.
The lyrics in Jonathan McReynold's songs are full of wisdom and rich in the Word of Life translated in a way which is relatable to the heater; so, I was almost certain that the book would contain information that would beneficial to my Christian walk. Fortunately, I was right.
