A woman’s been found dead in Dr. A’s beach house, facedown in enough cocaine to put him away for life. It’s going to take more than trading a couple of favors to help the doctor, who’s always been there for Madison, no questions asked, no blood left behind. Hard as Madison and Fab have tried to keep their promise to stop playing sneak-around-chick, prying up the evidence that could set their friend free requires a skillset from their shady past. When they open up this set of Pandora’s boxes, it’s too late to mind their own business. Plus being on the radar of a big-time drug dealer, shoots up the street value on their lives a million-fold. They could be in a felonious hot mess. Nice things about living in Tarpon Cove? Favors are traded like cryptocurrency. If anybody asks, nobody saw anything. And even the worst day can end with a pitcher of margaritas—glass optional.
Deborah Brown is the author of the Paradise series, Crazy, Deception and Trouble Florida Keys mysteries, which makes the reader laugh, cry and cheer...
My personal ad would read:
There's nothing a new pair of shoes can't cure.
Redhead. Long legs. There's nothing like a strawberry-lemonade in summer. Favorite activity: Filling my pockets with seashells. An avid rule follower when eating Animal Cookies: Broken ones get eaten first, match up the rest, duplicates next, line them up favorite to not, least favorite go first. South Florida is my home, with my ungrateful rescue cats, and where Mother Nature takes out her bad attitude in the form of hurricanes.
I've read all of the 'Paradise' series and you can take it from me, THIS one is the BEST so far! Deborah Brown put in enough head fakes and twists to give us all whiplash! New and expanded characters, visits from 'oldies but goodies' and more mayhem in the Keys. So, quit reading this, download 'Overdose,' plop down in your favorite chair with a beverage and prepare to be entertained!
I chose to review this book after requesting a free e-copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
I’ve read most of the books in this series and I’ve fallen in love with the characters. They’ve become like good friends, and I’m always looking forward to their next story or adventure. Madison and Fab are best friends and although they’ve calmed down over the years, they’re still good private investigators. They are just trying to stay away from the more dangerous cases. Somehow, though, that doesn’t always work out.
Dr. A needs a good lawyer after his girlfriend is found dead of an overdose in his house. He’s accused of supplying her with the drugs that killed her. Madison promises to find him a lawyer but of course she and Fab can’t leave it there. Even though Creole and Didier (boyfriend and husband, respectively) keep reminding them that it’s not their case and they’ve done all that they promised, they continue to work the case, find leads that may exonerate the good Dr. A, and find themselves in danger once again.
As with all of the Paradise books, Overdose in Paradise was a quick and enjoyable read. Deborah Brown has a good sense of humor and you never know what’s going to happen, especially at Madison’s property The Cottages. I especially liked the ending, and I’m looking forward to Madison and Fab’s next adventure.
Although this series is best read in order, all of the books stand alone. I definitely recommend them if you like independent women who are loyal and passionate about family, life and love.
Dr. A, long-term doctor friend of Madison, is arrested for the overdose death of his girlfriend. We all know Dr. A didn't do it, and more importantly, Madison is sure he's innocent. Let's make it so.
Lots of good family interaction, all the usual characters. The author did a great job of raising the stakes of danger. She has really stepped up her game in the past few books.
No Good Deed Goes UnPunished This book is part of a series that I think is best when read in order. The series takes place in South Florida. Our main characters are a pair of Pis and their families and friends. Most of them are not mainstream or normal. There is always something going on. Usually, it is a straightforward job that isn't what it seems. I am really enjoying the series and have been binge-reading the books.
I am always so excited when a new Paradise book comes out because it feels like I am visiting old friends when I delve into the book. Deborah Brown continues to deliver all of the fun, action packed antics I have come to love. I was especially glad to see more of Spoon in this book. He has quickly become one of my favorite secondary characters.
Madison and Fab are involved in cases ranging from murder to cheating spouses. We meet new characters, get to know better the ones we've read about for a long time, and have a rousing good time all around. Some twists and turns will keep you captivated, and there are some really exciting surprises.
Best one yet. Love this series and hope it doesn't end anytime soon. Toady is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. Big surprise at the end courtesy of him. There was another surprise at the end they I had figured out, but still loved. This crazy group of huge hearted family, both related by Blood and or bonds, always leaves me happy.
Another delight!! What fun these "Paradise" books are. Always action, always murder, always crazy situations with the residents of "The Cottages". There has been growth of each character throughout this series but it's subtle enough not to hit you in the face. Well, I'll be reading the next in the series in a few days and I know I can look forward to a truly enjoyable experience.
Overdose in Paradise was just the kind of book I needed on a snowy day. It's filled with lots of laughs, action and adventure, and Florida fun. I've read all the Paradise books. Keep em coming, Deborah!
Book 16! Not many authors can have 16 books out in one series, with the same characters each time and still have it be fresh and interesting. Madison, Fab and the rest will never get old and the stories and antics will never be boring.
I liked this latest installment as I like the rest. Action, adventure, romance, and a never failing over the top meddling mother lol! These are always fun reads with well thought out characters
Another mystery set in south Florida. Can’t get enough of this series, but Madeline stop meddling! Surprise wedding for her daughter when the daughter wanted to elope? Please just stop! You are getting on my nerves!
I don’t know what to say except that I can’t get enough of these crazy, fun characters! You just never know what they’ll get up to., and how I would love to be a guest at one of the family dinners! So fun.
This book is full of suspense, adventure, fun and wonderful characters. The setting in the Keys adds flavor to the story. The romances are enjoyable. Very entertaining book!
.whole of Nicolette for from an overdose of drugs. Then a bunch of other things happenThen Creole and Madison are married . Go on a honeymoon in Caspians yacht.
Love this series , just wish Fab didn’t take over ALL , the time Madison is the best friend she ever had and Never tells her the the whole truth . Just wish that Madison just once let Fab have it .Other than that LOVE IT
Actually all 16 and need to get on to 17 now. 🤣 start with book 1 or you will miss so much background! True they are stand alone worthy, but starting with 1 will make it last longer! You are welcome!
Sometimes when reading a lengthy series it becomes repetitive, but this series does not. This book will hold your interest all the way through. New characters are introduced and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
Absolutely one of her best in the series yet. I didn’t expect the ending so it’s a surprise can’t wait for the next book if you enjoy humor suspense and surprises this is definitely the book for you
I’m done with this series. “Mother” should have been killed off in book 3. She’s so deceitful and selfish. So much worse than the drug dealers and mobsters.
