From the cover, I expected something...different.

I'm going to need to look up just what happened to Flash. I'm sure there's a miniseries somewhere that covers it.

You probably shouldn't give a rat's ass about my review. Whatever I write it will not do the issue justice because this is the only issue of Venom I've read.

And the reason I've read it is mostly that I had the issue in front of me and still need three books for my reading challenge, and then also that I thought it would give me some understanding as to why I've had to blacklist the words venom, monsterloving and monsterfucking on all of my social media accounts to stop the influx of explicit art (doesn't work btw, it goes untagged a lot). The issue gave me some insight on that indeed because I can definitely say that Eddie behaves like a jealous lover towards the (currently voiceless) symbiote, so I see where they're coming from. Still squicked, though.

I gave the issue four stars because even though I came in with no idea about the story arc, the issue itself has a relatively concise story line that I could follow and that to 85% made sense to me. Writing and art are well-executed.

It's hard to fault this book for what it is doing, which is building up to the new story arc, but to say it is on the same level as issues 1-6 would be disingenuous. It is still great. But the bar is so high now -- and that's a good thing!

4.5 stars. We get some more info on the symbiotes, some good action/fights with some nice art and somewhat of a cameo. Add that to that reveal at the last page and we have ourselves another great issue!

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Walks up to concepts with a lot of potential... then keeps walking right past 'em. Cover art is even less sensical given the actual story within.
