You . . . Them . . . Him. That’s this book in a nutshell. It may sound simplistic, but it’s not. The genius of this book is how Rob Ketterling targets the problems all leaders face, deconstructs them, and wrote a book that will be a lifesaver for all who read it. This book is not just for leaders of churches, corporations, or organizations. The truths and concepts apply to all walks of life—including our homes.
When your church faces a problem, who is responsible to fix it? Pastors often say, “I am,” but taking responsibility for every problem results in burned-out pastors and underutilized church members. Rob Ketterling suggests a better way forward in Fix It!, one that revolves around three simple words: you, them, and God. “Define what you’re responsible to do, delegate to others who will share the load, and expect God to do what only He can do, including a change in direction from time to time.” This book is filled with biblical insight, practical suggestions, and real-life examples.
While the primary audience for this book is pastors, I got a lot out of it. Rob's premise is that whether you are leading a church or an organization problems fit into one of three columns. Some problems you need to fix, some problems you need to delegate for others to fix, and some problems only God can fix. In part three of the book, Rob shares encouraging examples of how God miraculously fixed certain problems both within his church and personally. The power of his testimony encouraged me in my own life.
I appreciate Rob’s heart and insights into the leadership issues a pastor faces. Rob speaks to ministry leaders in every season and of every size of ministry. Encouragement and truth are two gifts you will find in this book.
This book was both inspiring and instructional. It was well laid out. The points flowed with good examples in each. It was a quick read because of the flow but I will read again because of the importance of the message.
