A Tiny Seedling

Rate this book
Couples who have unsuccessfully been trying to conceive a child know of the oftentimes disappointing results and the strain that can be put on a marriage from the constant waiting and wondering. But when they receive the good news, their joy is boundless as they eagerly anticipate the arrival of their own little miracle of life. In "A Tiny Seedling," Lisa Webb unites both tongue-in-cheek humor and touching, guileless honesty as she relates the sequence of events, from what started as a lighthearted suggestion by her husband to forgo any form of contraception to the crushing disappointment month after month as the pregnancy tests were persistently negative, to joy at the eventual birth. While poking fun at herself and her inflated ideas of the orderly fashion of how these events should have transpired (but didn't) along the way she sprinkles tender passages of how her life has been profoundly and philosophically changed by motherhood, although she has maintained her sense of the absurd; a way of life she wouldn't trade for anything – not even oatmeal-free hair and adult conversation!
