Brenna and Dalena are sisters in their hearts, but now they are legends in their own right…When Dalena sees that no matter how much money she raises, she won’t really make these people care, she comes up with a plan of her own. Figuring sometimes—just this once—the ends justify the means, Dalena heads for the US. She has an illegal substance, a plan, and a power she didn’t know she had…Brenna’s sister is missing, and hell has broken loose in the form of the Landa Landa. Always the savior, always the fighter, Brenna is determined to bring in the creature haunting the east coast. She’s also one of the few people who knows how to deal with an outbreak like this. But she’s stronger than she ever knew, and the Aellai is real…Legends is a duet of novelettas – the stories are intertwined and Brenna and Dalena will steal your hearts.
I found the Landa Landa and the Aellai to be quite entertaining. It was a quick read with very intriguing characters. However, I would have enjoyed learning more about the legends behind the story. Perhaps it is a result of it being a short story and not having the space for more details, or perhaps that will be revealed in future Legends books, but I felt the Aellai specifically was not detailed enough. I would still recommend the story and look forward to reading many more of Scudiere's books.
I enjoyed this short story. the author always has an 'other' feel to her books. Two scientists trying to help with an outbreak in Africa are close as sisters. One, Darlena goes back to the states to get help any way she can. Her sister of the heart Brenna comes to help stop her. The legends they heard are real and Brenna uses them. The writing as always is excellent. I did feel that the story needed more 'fleshing out’ which is hard in a short story. I do like the duel perspective. Ms. Scudiere has written another book 'RED" and "GRAY" which has the same treatment.
I loved the modern day crisis meets legends of old combination. AJ Scudiere has a special knack for that kind of twist. I also love the two heroines--both compassionate, smart, dedicated and motivated. They fight the same battle, yet still find themselves in opposition despite their sister-like relationship. Fascinating stuff and I'm very interested to read the next books in this series as there was a bit of a preview of future characters/legends. These novelettes seemed to be bite-sized fast reads--yet there's plenty here to still make you think and feel!
Love her novels. Knew this would be short but wanted more. Nice telling of some African legends in modern times. As usual, her characters are different and believable with a nice supernatural slant.
What a great short story! I love the characters in this book! Very interesting yet exciting throughout!! Whew!!! I’m exhausted from all the excitement!
